Cable free probes – quick charge capabilities and a probe battery life that supports 90 minutes of continuous use help ensure uninterrupted scanning. Freely move around the workspace with improved line of sight to the probe using the adjustable External Antenna. This is especially useful in crowded Interventional Radiology suites. The External Antenna provides signal connectivity between the system and the probe with range of up to 3 meters / 10 feet. Eliminate on floor system cabling with the system mounted onto the Siemens Artis Large Display. Promote clear visualization of the needle and target anatomy, reducing accidental punctures to improve patient safety and satisfaction. Power must be plugged into Artis Large Display. 2. Wired Ethernet Networking Connector must be connected. 3. 15‐pin VGA connector output must be connected. 4. External Antenna must be connected to the left side of the system. Service will mount the External Antenna to the Large Display. The External Antenna is then cabled to the ACUSON Freestyle system. Go to SETUP > SYSTEM > Display page to see the Video Out options. • DICOM GSDF (Default Setting): Video output calibrated to the luminance characteristics specified in DICOM Part 14: Grayscale Standard Display Function. Video quality depends on connected monitor. • LD DICOM: Provides a grayscale correction for the Siemens Large Display connected to a compatible Artis system utilizing LUT selection DICOM 14 Gamma Model with a 0.45 cd / sqm Luminance Minimum. NOTE: This setting was optimized for the Siemens Large Display monitor based on the Siemens‐authorized installation kit and may not be suitable for other monitors or configurations. • LD DICOM natural: Provides a grayscale correction for the Siemens Large Display connected to a compatible Artis system utilizing the DICOM 14 Gamma Model with a 0.28 cd / sqm (natural) Luminance Minimum. NOTE: This setting was optimized for the Siemens Large Display monitor based on the Siemens‐authorized installation kit and may not be suitable for other monitors or configurations. The LD DICOM natural setting is recommended when connected to Siemens Large Display. On the Artis system, select Display LUT: DICOM 14 Gamma Model with a 0.28 cd / sqm (natural) Luminance Minimum, or equivalent. ‐To test the calibration between the ACUSON Freestyle Series and the monitor, a Show test pattern feature is available under the Video Out option. Select the Show test pattern button to display a full screen test pattern. Touch any control (system or probe) to deactivate the test pattern and display the most recent screen. 5 Preforming an Exam SIEMENS . Five dashes signify a completely charged battery. Each probe has a 1.5 hour battery life with continuous use. This ensures uninterrupted scanning. The probe batteries quickly charge, empty to full, in 2 hours. Five dashed lines represent the charge status, with the bright dashes representing the battery charge level. For example, four bright dashes and one dim dash mean the battery is at least 80% charged. Note ‐ charge status is also displayed in the SETUP > SYSTEM page. 7 Preforming an Exam SIEMENS . Probe, External Antenna, and Artis Display L13-5 3 Meters / 10 Feet - + 8 Unrestricted © Siemens Healthineers, 2020 • Simultaneously press and hold the + / ‐ probe soft keys to power on the probe. • Release probe soft keys when audio signal is heard. • Stay within 3 meters / 10 feet of the system. • Maintain an unblocked line of sight between the probe and the external antenna. Improved performance may be achieved with shorter distances and/or a more direct line‐of‐sight between the probe and external antenna. The probe has six internal antennas (2 back and 2 on each side.) Avoid holding the back end of the probe, as this may block antennas. Note: If the image is frozen, the Wireless Signal Quality Meter is also frozen. The wireless signal quality meter is only active in live imaging mode. 9 Saving an Image SIEMENS . Select Close > Study Complete to close the exam. Close will appear when the image is frozen and a study is active. 2. Select Close Exam icon on Artis, icon is illustrated on the slide. 3. Begin a new patient on Artis. • Images will automatically transfer to the default PACs once study is closed (assumes a PACs device has been configured and set as default on Setup > DICOM page.) 11 Artis Workflow SIEMENS . Artis Patient Synchronization eliminates lead time to procedure by automatically populating patient registration data between systems. Efficiency is improved with Auto Send which instantly sends studies, upon exam completion, from the system to PACS. To enable Artis Patient Synchronization: SETUP > SYSTEM > Admin > Enable Artis Patient Synchronization. The ACUSON Freestyle Series will query the Artis system every 60 seconds or immediately upon probe power‐on. If a new patient / exam is detected, the system will automatically load patient data. If the exam is ended on the Artis, the ACUSON Freestyle Series will automatically end the exam and transfer any images to PACS. To enable the Auto Send feature, a default PACS must first be selected on the DICOM setup page by placing a check mark in the last column of the DICOM device list. The default device may also be selected by highlighting the device and selecting EDIT, and then placing a check mark in the Set as default checkbox. 12 Objectives SIEMENS . A major differentiator is the integrated probe controls which allow remote control of all imaging parameters and reduced interaction with the system. This is especially useful in crowded Interventional Radiology suites. Because they are cable‐free probes, cable management is no longer a consideration. For example, cables may cause: decreased range of motion due to the torque of the probe, unsafe IR environments due to a cable tripping hazard, or inadvertent contamination of the sterile field. Capturing, reviewing and closing studies can also be accomplished by the probe controls. The LED lights solid during live scanning and flashes while in freeze mode. The LED light is normally green, but turns amber when the probe battery reaches < 20% power. The Plus soft key corresponds to clockwise rotation of the rotary control. The Minus soft key corresponds to counterclockwise rotation of the rotary control. The probe index marker is the side of the probe where the probe On / Off symbol is located it corresponds to the ACUSON “a” symbol next to the image display. The probe model numbers such as “L13‐5” also serves as an index marker. Two additional keys in the middle of the probe can be used as shortcuts for Freeze, Print, Color, Clip, Save, Wide, or Needle V. It requires three taps, on either side, to execute. Each probe has integrated system controls to access all imaging parameters. There are two linear probes: the L8‐3 with larger footprint and deeper penetration and the L13‐5 for higher resolution and restricted access. There is also the C5‐2 curved probe for abdominal scanning or when greater penetration or field‐of‐view is required. The ACUSON Freestyle system and probes are designed to operate in the same room as X‐ray equipment. However, THE ACUSON Freestyle probes contain sensitive electronic components not found in conventional cabled probes. This feature protects the investment and strengthens equipment security via configurable localization alerts for console and probes. This feature uses the Bluetooth® radios in the probe and console, as well as other system functions, to monitor the connection and proximity of the wireless probe to the console. One such function is the Bluetooth signal strength, which decreases with separation distance. When an alert condition occurs, a visual notification will be displayed on the console and the probe will eventually emit a continuous audible tone. There are three programmable alert levels, as follows: • High: Visual and/or audible notifications will occur with these conditions: probe inactivity, a study is closed, the probe is turned off, the console is turned off. • Low: Visual and/or audible notifications will occur with these conditions: a study is closed, the probe is turned off, the console is turned off. The on‐screen flashing message will appear after approximately 3 minutes of inactivity. Audible system tones will be heard after an additional 2 minutes. Audible probe tones will be heard after an additional 1 minute at 15 second intervals. This will continue until OK is selected via system controls or probe +/‐ controls. The probe and battery pack separately can be fully immersed in water; the specification for water immersion is a depth of 1 meter for one hour. Because of the automation capabilities, 3 out of 5 parameters no longer require manual adjustment: Focus, Frequency and TGCs are automatically optimized. This helps to shorten the learning curve, system operation and exam time. The operator now only has to press Depth. Auto Focus – Achieved through Pixelformer™ imaging processing architecture provides both transmit and receive focusing at every pixel. Auto TGC and Overall Gain ‐ Automatically adjusts time gain compensation and gain based on signal strength, image content and depth settings. These technologies are included in the image preset. It is vital to choose the correct preset so all the technologies can collectively give an optimal image. The last exam preset will be chosen by default, V Gen will have the best image quality for IR procedures. Compound ‐ SC (1‐4) ‐ Spatial Compounding combines steering angles for improved contrast resolution and border detection. Higher levels increase number of angles. Speckle ‐ SF (1‐9) ‐ Available on live or frozen image. Speckle Filter applies image filters to remove speckle and enhance edges. Enhanced Needle Visualization intensifies the brightness of the needle for enhanced needle visibility leading to faster procedural completion. Clear visualization of the needle and target anatomy can reduce accidental punctures and improve patient safety and satisfaction. There are two techniques for utilizing Enhanced Needle Visualization: in‐plane and out‐of‐plane. For In‐Plane, shallow and steep angles up to 40°may be visualized. For optimal needle visualization, select the graphic display that is most perpendicular to the needle path via the Inner Rotary Control. In‐plane technique: turn right or left for two angle positions on either side. Enhanced Needle Visualization is located in the B‐mode and Color Tools menu and can be selected for display in the list of Imaging Parameters on the Control Bar soft keys as Needle V under: SETUP > SYSTEM > Display > User Selected Keys. Note: The graphic display guide position can be saved in a User‐Defined Preset. The dotted line through the image approximates the steered angles active for that setting for brightening the display of a needle. For optimal display, the needle would be on a path that is perpendicular to this dotted line. When the Study List reaches 80% of capacity, studies eligible for deletion will be removed from the Study List, starting with the oldest to newest, until the patient study database reaches 70% of capacity or no more eligible studies exist. For a study to be eligible for automatic deletion, it must be more than 5 days old and must either contain no image data or have been successfully archived. If the system’s hard drive is 100% full a dialog box will appear. 1. Selecting OK will automatically delete the oldest studies. 2. Save / Clip will not function until studies are deleted. User cannot store images when storage capacity is at 100%.
