Needle V improves the display of linear structures in the imaging field, such as biopsy needles or vessel walls, by brightening these structures when they are placed perpendicular to the direction of the steered beam. Needle V is available on all three ACUSON Freestyle probes and can be used with in-plane and out-of-plane ultrasound-guided procedures. Step 1 • Select and activate the desired transducer Step 2 Needle V • Activate the Enhanced Needle Visualization feature by selecting Needle V TIP Needle V can be activated remotely from the probe controls during the exam. Step 3 • Select the biopsy plane (in-plane or out-of-plane) by rotating the inner portion of the rotary dial clockwise or counterclockwise • If using the in-plane option, select the desired In-plane, left In-plane, left biopsy angle (shallow or steep) and direction of approach, steep approach, shallow the needle approach TIP The biopsy plane can also be selected remotely using the + /- probe controls.
