The 9VE4 supports General, Early OB, and Gynecology applications. Select each tab arrow , to learn more about the 9VE4, 3D/4D imaging. 3D and 4D Clinical Application MPR Overview VOI Adjustments 9VE4 Clinical Images 9VE4 | New Transducer 9VE4 | Clinical Images Click each image to zoom. A comparison is made of the same image and volume. Changes to the VOI depth is the only adjustment made to the volume. Note: a deeper VOI allows greater contrast resolution to be displayed within the VR image. VOI Adjustments Continued Turning the volume on its side, helps to compare the depth of the VOI. The width of each VR is demonstrated with the blue double arrows. The Cut Line divides the entire volume across the elevation width and is identified as the green box when turned on its side. Back < VOI Adjustments The VOI determines the depth of the volume in the VR plane, (from the Cut Line to the bottom of the VOI). Adding depth to the VOI adds contrast resolution within the VR image. An example is viewed to the right. Hover over the image to see: Cut Line in Plane A and VR demonstrated with yellow arrows Depth of VOI demonstrated with blue double headed arrows Plane C or gray box indicates the surface of the Cut Line across the elevation or the coronal view Cut Line Cut Line Press continue to see more examples. > Continue B Plane Uterus mid-transverse Volume Rendering Uterus mid-coronal Plane C Plane Uterus mid-coronal A Plane Uterus mid-sagittal A B VR C Once a 3D volume is acquired, the MPR images can be viewed. Each of the MPR planes are labeled as A, B, and C. These planes are represented as: the A plane is the acquisition plane. The B plane is 90 degrees to the A plane, and the C plane is 90 degrees to both the A and B planes. Each MPR and the VR have images stacked like pages in a book in front of and behind the displayed MPR images. These images can be paged through using each of the associated 3D control knobs on the control panel. MPR Overview Acquisition Direction Right Ovary Left Ovary 3D volume image of a phantom. Example of Image label icon for clear anatomy identification. To obtain a 3D or 4D volume image, position the 9VE4 transducer in the center of anatomy. Images are procured starting from the right of center ending to the left of center, (angle determines the width of volume). This is an automated process and provides Quantitative 3D volume data. Detailed anatomy icons are available for image labeling. Explore the Job Aids located in Resources for further instructions, or consult the User Manual for more detailed information. 9VE4 Transducer ? 9EC4 | New Transducer 1 1 1 2 2 2 3 3 3 4 4 4 5 5 5 6 6 6 7 7 7 The new 9EC4 transducer delivers excellent endo-cavity performance for the ACUSON Redwood system. Another feature of this transducer is the ability to produce a Freehand or a manually acquired 3D GYN volume data set. These volumes are rendered by manually rocking or pivoting the 9EC4 transducer across the anatomy of interest. Explore each of the numbers below for more information. This volume example was produced with a GYN phantom. 9EC4 / New Transducer Clinical Images 7 Rocked Timeline 5 As noted in the previous slide, the Rocked timeline is controlled by the Angle and Quality adjustments. Choosing a High setting under Quality control, adds time to the timeline. If a superior resolution is desired, but the timeline is more than needed, follow these instructions to adjust the acquisition time: Press the Start or Update key above the trackball to begin 3D acquisition Start a smooth, continual pivot or rocking motion of the transducer across anatomy If the sweep is completed before the timeline ends, press the Freeze control 3D volume data set will be available and ready to manipulate Press the Image button on the control panel to save the 3D data If reviewing a 3D volume at the end of exam or revisiting a study Activate Review > Press the 3D tab on the Touchscreen > use 3D Tools to manipulate volume > Image button is now available to acquire a single image of the volume and/or MPRs Freehand Sweep After pressing the Start key, pivot the transducer right-to-left for a sagittal acquisition. 6 Right-to-Left Click the image to play video. Image Icons After completing the 3D Setup and defining the anatomy of interest with the ROI, there are several icons on the image that assist with the acquisition. The Trackball icon identifies the Trackball action keys. As these keys are configurable and change during and after a 3D acquisition, it is a helpful reminder to refer to each key function. During acquisition the Rocked timeline shows the Angle of volume in degrees (or elevation) as well as the allotted time to acquire volume. 4 Continue to the number five slide to learn more on the Rocked timeline. Image Overlays Activation of the 3D/4D control displays an overlay on the image. Adjustments to these overlays define the 3D volume. Refer to the each label as they are identified on the image: Cut Line – defines the face of the volume. The volume of interest VOI, is indicated by the four green corner markers. Defining the depth of the VOI (anatomy between the Cut Line and bottom of VOI. The region of interest ROI (turquoise lines) identifies anatomy included within the volume, (top-to-bottom and side-to-side). 4 2 - VOI Cut Line ROI These image overlays are activated after 3D/4D control is triggered. 1- 3 - Press or tap the ROI to learn more. Touch Screen Setup Continued The volume size and resolution settings are displayed at the bottom right of the touchscreen, indicated by the yellow box. These controls are: Quality - changes the resolution of the volume and sweep duration Angle - determines the Angle or the width of the sweep. The sweep angle indicates the elevation of the 3D volume and corresponds to the MPR B plane. Reference the Job Aids in RESOURCES or the User Manual for more information on these controls. 3 Continue to number the four slide when finished with this slide. Touchscreen Setup Page Activation of the 3D/4D control allows the 3D/4D Setup page to be displayed on the touchscreen. Optimize the 3D acquisition before performing, let’s explore these options. Within the yellow box are these settings: Surface – displays varying opacities within the volume (this is the default setting) Min IP - minimum intensity projection, is best for viewing vascular structures Max IP - maximum intensity projection is optimal for viewing skeletal structures 2 Continue to the number three slide when review is finished. Getting Started The 3D option is only available in the GYN preset. When ready to acquire a 3D data set, press the 3D/4D control located on the control panel. (This control is viewed with the orange circle.) Press or tap the control panel image to continue. 1 VA2.0 improvements include upgraded report export, OB, and Early OB reporting.
