Labeled Measurements Labeled Measurements https://pep.siemens-info.com/stream/775d5e62-2d70-4c92-abaf-23a8db219d8f When the measurement function is activated, the touch screen displays the label groups and subgroups that are available within the chosen exam package. Each group or subgroup contains labels that are organized by mode type. The measurements and calculations for all exam types are available and may be changed on frozen or live images, as well as on image in review by selecting the desired package. To use a labeled measurement from the touch screen, select the label you wish to use from the touch screen. The system then activates the measurement tool associated with the chosen label position and anchor, the beginning and ending measurement markers using the trackball and set key. Labels can also be added to a measurement that has already been anchored on the screen by selecting the label from the touch screen. Once the generic measurement has been completed, the measurement will then be labeled as long as the selected measurement label supports the chosen generic measurement tool, a checkmark will appear on the measurement label once the measurement is completed. Modifiers allow the user to select options such as laterality for a measurement, some modifiers such as proximal and distal are embedded in the touch screen labels. Labels with a single triangle in the corner contain a folder of continuous measurements which will result in a calculated value such as volume. Subsequent pages are accessed by swiping the touch screen to the left or right or using the arrows on the bottom right corner of the screen. There are two exam packages available for cardiac studies, adult cardiac and fetal cardiac. Measurements are grouped into folders based on anatomy. Heart Rate Edit allows manual entry of a heart rate. This is useful in cases where an ECG may not be available, but a heart rate is needed for a calculated measurement. Select, HR edit and enter the heart rate using the touch screen number keys, then select save. Measurement series are indicated by the arrow on the touch screen. Select the arrow to perform a measurement series or select the individual measurement labels to perform single non-contiguous measurements. In this LV series example, once a measurement within a series is completed, the next measurement is automatically activated. The series continues until the last measurement is performed. A checkmark will appear on the measurement label once the measurement is completed. The soft key menu at the bottom of the touch screen contains the workflow enhancement options. Enhance measurement workflow by automatically finding an end-diastolic or end-systolic frame within the frozen Doppler trace. Note that the end-diastolic and end-systolic locations may be adjusted by the user and are not locked when using this feature. Select Next to continue. ? Performing a Measurement Performing a Measurement https://pep.siemens-info.com/stream/ff2b540d-1475-484c-8321-442efd2fbb54 The imaging screen will display an active point in the center of the imaging screen, active calipers are green in color, and their associated measurement is blue. Use the trackball to move the active caliper around the imaging screen and the Update key to toggle between the two points once the desired position is reached. Use either one of the Set keys to anchor a point. Once a caliper is anchored, the caliper point and measurement display will turn yellow to edit a measurement, select the Last Caliper key. This key may also be used to cycle through the previous caliper sets for editing of any displayed measurement and the Update key to toggle between the two points to delete a measurement. Press the Delete key on the control panel or select the Clear Screen soft key to delete all measurements and annotations. The location of the measurement display area or MDA can be changed on the imaging screen. To move the MDA position, the active caliper into the MDA press, the Set key to pick up the MDA then use the trackball to move it to the new location, reselect the Set key to place the MDA at the new location. Select Next to continue. ? Generic Measurements Generic Measurements https://pep.siemens-info.com/stream/4a33fe99-e078-4b68-8d75-798d8306a127 A generic toolbar sits at the bottom of the touch screen. It is important to understand that generic, unlabeled measurements appear on the imaging screen and captured images only and do not appear on the measurement report. Additional generic measurements are available under the More key, located on the right side of the touch screen. One of the available More key options is for the semi-automated measurement feature, eSieCalcs. eSieCalcs helps uses pattern recognition software to trace and measure the circumference, diameter, and area of a structure of interest. To perform an eSieCalcs measurement position and anchor the marker outside of the structure of interest, once the caliper marker is anchored, roll the trackball to expand the ROI box. Be sure to encompass the entire structure of interest within the ROI and press Set. You may now edit the trace, if desired. Position the arrow further from the structure to edit a larger portion or closer to reposition a smaller portion of the trace. Once the trace is acceptable, press the Update key to complete the measurement. The system will trace the structure and display the associated measurements. The three point method of disc's may be used to perform labeled measurements for the left ventricle and left atrium volumes. Select the volume measurement label, then press set key to place medial and lateral points. Once the second point is placed, the volume discs appear on the image. Use the trackball to position it over the desired anatomy, then press Set key. To edit the trace, move the pointer close to the trace to select a small section or farther from the trace to adjust a bigger section, then click and drag to reposition. Press the Update key to complete the measurement. Labeled measurements are added to the report once the points are set and all measurement points are completed. Note for LV measurements, it is recommended to place the points in order from medial to lateral, then apex. For LA measurements, place the points in the order of lateral to medial, then distal. To edit a set trace, select Last Caliper from the soft key menu to activate trace editing. The traditional trace method in which contours are drawn continuously with the trackball is available as a generic caliper measurement, a generic measurement will not populate into the patient report. Select Next to continue. ? Measurements Tools Measurement Tools https://pep.siemens-info.com/stream/cac00e8a-55e5-4473-9b25-25e7f08c152b An Auto Trace feature for the Doppler trace is available to the user when the Pulse Wave PW application is active on the ACUSON Sequoia ultrasound system. To activate the Auto Trace feature, press the Auto Trace key on the touch screen during an active PW sweep. There are three choices for the Auto Trace line; location above baseline, below baseline, or above and below. A specialized hip measurement package is available on the ACUSON Sequoia system. To measure the hip angle, select the label place the reference line appropriately and press Set. Rotate and place the beta angle reference line press set again to activate the alpha angle reference line and complete the measurement in the same way. The user has the option to configure the measurement to include both beta and alpha or only the alpha angle in the measurement sequence. To measure the percentage of the femoral head coverage, select the desired label once again, place the reference line appropriately and press Set. Use the Size soft key to adjust the femoral head ROI and use the trackball to position, select the set key to finish the measurement. Select Last Caliper to edit and the Update key to toggle between the caliper sets. Shadow calipers are a useful tool that allows you to visualize the area of the caliper on both images when in live dual modes and the active caliper will be mirrored on the opposite image. This allows correlation of measured areas when using color Doppler, contrast. and Virtual Touch™ elastography as shown here. The eSie OB feature is an option that enables automated measurements of fetal anatomy. When the eSie OB key is highlighted in blue, the feature is active and may be deactivated by selecting the key. The measurement labels on the touch screen reflect the eSie OB active status by displaying auto on each label that is available with the automated feature. The available labels are listed here. Select Next to continue. ? OB Measurements OB Measurements https://pep.siemens-info.com/stream/a30444cb-a386-44be-8acc-f46a4bf4ff75 An obstetric history section is available in the report. If the user has access to previous ultrasound exam data for their patient. The data can be manually entered in the OB history section. To input the data the user will need to enter the date the exam was performed and then all subsequent values associated with the previous exam. Select OK when all necessary fields are populated to save the data. These values will be compared to the new exam data in the fetal growth charts section. If the previous exam was performed on the same system and is still on the hard drive of the system, the data will be automatically populated into the OB history section. Note that the system does not check growth data manually entered in the patient history for accuracy or internal consistency. Fetal growth charts for applicable growth parameters can be displayed in the report, the user can change the displayed parameter as well as chart author by using the drop down menu located in the title of each chart. Options for chart layout are found in the upper right corner. To collapse or hide the charge from display, click on the minus icon next to the section heading. Note that the chart will not print as part of the patient report if the section is hidden or collapsed, even if it is defaulted to show in the system configuration. Select Next to continue. ? Measurement Report Configurations Measurement Report Configurations https://pep.siemens-info.com/stream/59d527ec-a8cf-4990-8d47-6aab7ede7607 Labeled measurements are entered into the report once the measurement is anchored, completed on the imaging screen, select the Report key on the left side of the control panel to access and display the report. The navigation pane allows the user to easily jump between different sections of the report. Sections are organized by anatomy and open or active section headings will be highlighted in blue. All areas of the report that contain measured data will be listed, however, if any sections have been hidden in the system configuration, the section will not be listed or displayed, even if a measurement was taken. The report sections can be individually collapsed by selecting the plus or minus sign by the section heading. For labels with laterality such as kidney or carotid, a side-by-side section is available that displays each result with the contralateral result in side-by-side columns. The report touch screen contains several keys which allow the user to store the report automatically as images to the patient exam, print the report to a configured USB or printer server, transfer the structured report while the exam is in progress, export the report in PDF format to an offline storage device such as a USB, add OB history to an in progress registered patient, or edit the report information. Preloaded assessment packages are available for the packages listed here. Custom assessments may also be added for any package, assessments may be configured in a dropdown format with predetermined content or free form comments. A section for adding summary comments to a patient report is available to the user. Comments can be added manually using the keyboard or selected from a predefined list that has been created in the measurement configuration. To view the list of predefined comments, select the Load Comments key at the bottom of the section Use the pointer to highlight the desired comment and select OK, the comment will now appear on the report. Multiple comments may be added. Images may be added to the patient report from the thumbnail panel. To add an image to the report, placed the pointer over the image you wish to add and press the Set key to add the image from the thumbnails to the report, use the dropdown to select the desired display layout. To remove an image from the report, select the X in the upper left corner of the image. To edit a report, select, Edit report from either the touch screen or the imaging screen. Use the pointer and set key to select and highlight the value to be edited. Begin typing on the keyboard to replace the value or use the touch screen, delete key to remove the entry entirely. Move to another cell using the tab key on the keyboard or the trackball to complete the change or deletion. Any value that has been edited will be indicated by an asterisk in the data cell. A maximum of five labeled measurements will be displayed at one time. If more than five measurements are taken, only the last five will be displayed. The display method will differ between labels as some options are not available for all labels. To choose a different display method, use the pointer to open the drop down menu and select the alternate display type. Note that shear wave values may be deleted but cannot be edited in the report. Once the sheer wave value has been deleted, it cannot be retrieved. Any associated values, mean IQR, et cetera, will be recalculated. If the report has already been stored, it will need to be stored again with the new values. OB dating data can also be added or altered on the report page. Use the pointer to select the calendar icon next to the field, you wish to alter or highlight the field and manually enter the new date data. To store the entire report as images in the patient file select Store Report on the touch screen or on the imaging screen using the pointer. All report pages of data will be stored as a single report, sections that were hidden or deselected in the system configuration will not be stored with the report, even if there were measurements taken for that section. If the Store Report key is used to save the report after multiple exams have been performed on the same patient, the report will be saved over several pages as one single report. If the user requires a separate report for each exam type, the report must be saved, and the exam ended for each exam type before the user moves to the next exam. Ending each exam after the report has been saved is the only way individual reports can be generated. The report can also be stored as individual screenshots using the Print Store key on the control panel. The report can also be exported to a USB in PDF format. The structured report data can be sent to a configured external location during an exam or at the end of an exam to send the SR report without closing the exam, select the Transfer Report key on the touch screen or the imaging screen. A Print Report option is also available on the touch screen and imaging screen if there is an external printer configured to the ultrasound system. The key will only be active if the printer is configured. Select Next to continue. ? Course Review Congratulations.
