Initial setup of your laboratory QC is done by your Technical Application Specialist when the ADVIA® 1800 Chemistry System is installed. The TAS uses three windows to define the laboratory QC materials: QC Sample Definition Ctrl/Cal Setup Ctrl Data Setup Note: Login at the Supervisor level is needed to access these windows. QC Setup Windows Learn about QC Setup windows. Tab TitleTextCtrl/Cal Setup The following information is entered in the Ctrl/Cal Setup window: Container type Lot Name Lot # Exp. date    QC Sample Definition The following information is selected in the QC Sample Definition window: CTT position A letter from A to Z is selected for each control The tests to be performed on the individual QC definition are selected in the Test Table Serum or urine as a sample type is selected  Control Data Setup The following information for each QC material is entered on the Control Data Setup window for daily and cumulative QC: Mean 1 SD (standard deviation) When complete, select the X in the upper- right corner to close the window and continue.   The card grippers on the right side of the card platform should be cleaned when debris is present in this area.  The grippers are cleaned with 70% isopropyl alcohol. Select the link below to learn more about cleaning the card grippers. Follow your laboratory specific guidelines for the frequency to process QC material. Siemens recommends: 2 levels of QC material be run at least every 24 hours to verify system performance QC be done following every calibration Following a lamp change, all analytes be calibrated and QC be performed Following the changing of the RRV cuvettes, all analytes be calibrated and QC be performed Following FSE preventive maintenance or troubleshooting, all analytes must be calibrated and/ or QC be performed Select Next to continue. To sustain the market success of the ADVIA Centaur Immunoassay systems, the new ADVIA Centaur® XPT Immunoassay system product line extension is designed to enhance the customer's experience with the addition of new features.  It is also important to discuss the sustainable benefits associated with these features with the customer.   Processing Quality Control: Initiated by selecting the Start button on the Operation Panel Samples are always processed along with calibrations Samples can be processed alone or along with ordinary samples   Note: Not all laboratories use the same QC materials.  Follow manufacturer directions for QC preparation, storage and handling. Daily QC must be saved to the cumulative file only once a day. The Save should be done on the same shift every day so it is routinely captures the same time frame of statistics. Saving Daily QC to the Cumulative file Learn how to save daily QC. Slide NumberText BlocksCalloutsAudio ScriptImage File1Select QC from the Menu Panel.Note: If audio does not automatically start, select the play arrow in the top left to begin. Now, let's learn how to save the Daily QC results to the Cumulative files. From the Menu panel, select QC.2Select Daily Precision Control.   Select Daily Precision Control. 3Select the X in the upper right-hand corner to close the QC window. When the Daily Precision Control window opens, review your QC. If all values are within your laboratory guidelines close the window. Select the X in the right corner of the QC window. 4Read the prompt, then select Yes. Note:  For accurate statistics Save QC once daily and on the same shift.A popup window opens asking you to confirm that you want to save the Daily QC to Cumulative QC files. Answer yes only if it is your responsibility to perform the daily save. If it is not your responsibility, answer no. When Yes is selected, all the QC data from the last save would be calculated and registered in the cumulative QC files. For example. Glucose Chem QC1 has been run 3 times since the last save. The values were 72, 74 and 76. The average mean for the day is 74. This mean point is filed in the cumulative data for Glucose Chem QC1for the given day. If the save had been done on the previous shift by mistake, when you perform the save, only the last point of 76 will be filed in cumulative and the data would not be accurate. If this is done multiple times, your cumulative QC data will not be a true representation of how Glucose is actually running in your lab and your statistics will be skewed. Now, select Yes.5Select Yes.Another popup appears to give you the option to Exit the Daily Precision Control window. Select Yes.6Congratulations.  You have filed your daily QC results to the cumulative files. When complete, select the X in the upper-right corner to close the window and continue.Congratulations. You have filed your daily QC to the Cumulative files. When complete, select the X in the upper-right corner to close the window and continue. The ADVIA® Chemistry System provides options to manage QC statistical data in both the Daily Precision Control and QC Cumulative windows. Managing QC Statistics Learn how to manage statistical data. Tab TitleTextDaily QC: Control QC Summary In the control list, select a control to review. The daily statistics for the selected control display.   Optional: You can use the daily statistics to establish the Daily QC average and 1 SD values for a control on the Control Data Setup window.  Refer to the Online Operator Guide for directions on this procedure. QC Cumulative: X-Chart X-Chart display from the QC Cumulative Menu It is similar to the X-Chart display for Daily QC Each control product is identified by a letter (A to Z) that is assigned at the QC Sample Definition window There are two charts for each test. The daily means are plotted on the top chart, and the daily ranges are plotted on the bottom chart The heading identifies the test and provides the mean and SD for the daily means QC Cumulative: Control Data At the View (V) menu, select Control Data (D). In the Control list, select the control you want to review. A letter (A to Z) defines each control product that is assigned at the QC Sample Definition window. In the Test list in the lower panel, select the test you want to review. Note: You cannot edit or erase a questionable daily data point, but it can be omitted at the supervisory level.  Refer to the Online Operator Guide for complete information.   QC Cumulative: QC Summary QC Summary You can use the cumulative statistics to establish the QC Cumulative mean and 1 SD values for a control at the Control Data Registration window. Since this task is usually not performed at the User level, refer to the Online Operator Guide for information on how to perform this task. Note:  The selected cumulative control information is sent to the Control Data Registration window. This data can also be printed. When complete, select the X in the upper-right hand corner to close the window and continue.
