ADVIA® 1800 Chemistry System Results Management Online Training

Locate patient results from different software screens. Review, and assess patient results. Print the completed patient results. List additional flag Information to aid in the management of patient results. This clinical laboratory training qualifies for continuing education units (CEU).

Now that we have our initial mean, we need to make sure it is accurate by validating it against a reference value.  What reference value can we use to validate this mean is correct? Welcome to the ADVIA® 1800 Chemistry System Results Management Online Training course.  This Course provides an overview of how results are managed on the ADVIA® 1800 Chemistry System and can be used as a tool to identify and assess common flags associated with sample analysis.  Select Next to continue.   List additional flag information that could be associated with patient results Locate patient results from different software screens Print the completed patient results Review and assess patient results Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to: Select Next to continue. Now it’s your turn again. Back to our exercise, we have an initial mean.  Now we need an initial SD. One option is to use data from the prior lot.     How do you calculate the initial SD?   Congratulations.  You have completed the ADVIA® 1800 Chemistry System Results Management Online Training course.  Listed below are the key points that have been presented.  Take time to review the material before you proceed to the final quiz. In this course you have learned how to : Locate patient results from different software screens To locate patient results, there are two windows where results data can be viewed after an analysis has been requested: The Realtime Monitor and the Review/Edit  windows. This includes patient results for electrolyte assays from the ISE module. The location of these results depends on whether a new start or restart was performed on the system. Review, and Assess patient results Most results will not require extra investigating. However, occasionally, patient results may be flagged. Therefore, patient results should be reviewed in order to identify possible marks or flags associated with the results. They should be assessed  to judge the types of flags in question, that could require a corrective action. Print the completed patient results data Patient Results can be printed from the Realtime Monitor window or the Review/Edit screen. The Realtime Monitor window  shows different system information including patient results over a certain number of samples tested. Printing from that window will not produce  a chartable report. This print format can be used for internal purposes, for record keeping, or as an audit trail. Patient Results can also be printed from the Review/Edit screen as a chartable report. This means printing results from one patient sample at a time. Modifications to these settings may be performed with the help of a technical support representative. List additional flag Information that could be associated with patient results Additional flags associated with patient results may be observed based on the following software settings: Critical Ranges, Indices, Ratios, Automatic Dilutions and Reruns. These settings are programmed in the system by a Siemens support personnel according to customer specifications. Modifications to these parameters require a higher level password and the involvement of a Siemens technical support representative. Note: It is important to note that If multiple "New Starts" are performed within a 24 hour period, previously resulted data may be lost. A New Start will also delete any pending work orders.  Daily QC results will also be deleted after a New Start if they were not saved to the Cumulative QC file. Select Next to continue. Patient results data can be viewed in:Realtime Monitor window Review/Edit  window The system monitors results in real time and posts them in the Realtime Monitor Window as each sample completes analysis.  Select the Date to display a test with a different date to review. In the Review/Edit window, results are viewed and assessed after analysis is complete. Use this window to request a manual rerun or to print a chartable report. If the instrument is attached to an LIS or middleware, sample results can be transmitted to a host computer from the Review/Edit window.   View Patient Results Select this link to learn how to view patient results. Select a numbered slide or use the Previous and Next arrows to navigate at your own pace. Audio plays automatically. Select an audio level to adjust the volume. Select Pause to stop and Play to resume the slideshow. Tip:  Select and drag the border of the Q & A box if it is in your way. You can also minimize or maximize the box.Select the Request button to access results from the Realtime Monitor window.2Realtime Monitor window Once the date and folder have been identified, select a Sample Number from the list to display the specific data from a test. In order to display results details from more than one sample at the same time, first select a sample, then, while holding down the shift key, highlight the other samples that you want to view.3Other features from the Realtime Monitor window Patient Results data can be printed and saved onto a disc or other devices as csv files. Data is stored onboard the instrument for 7 days into folders that are created at each "New Start". This data is deleted after 7 days starting with the oldest information. Select Next to continue. The following functions can also be performed from the Realtime Monitor window. In order to manually repeat a sample analysis: Select a sample from the list Locate the R in the second column of the window  Place a check mark in the box next to the test to be repeated for that sample Save the request Execute the rerun Select Next to continue. Another very useful function that is available from the Review/Edit window is a Manual Rerun of a patient sample. A manual rerun is initiated from that window using the following steps: First, Select a sample from the list on the left side of the window, Locate the R in the second column of the screen, and Place a check mark next to the test to be repeated. Save the Request, go to Start, and Execute the rerun.6Initial and Rerun value from the Review/Edit window Results from Initial and repeated tests are posted on the Review/Edit window, along with any flags associated with the sample. The system will allow multiple manual reruns of the same sample, replacing the rerun value each time a new result is generated. Select Next to continue. The system will allow multiple manual reruns of the same sample, replacing the rerun value each time a new result is generated. Results from Initial and repeated testings are posted on the Review/Edit window, along with any flags associated with the sample. Because this is a manual request, you have to assess the results in order to determine which ones should be reported. You may elect to report the initial or the rerun value based on your laboratory Standard Operating Procedure. The system can be programmed accordingly. 7Other features from the Review/Edit window In addition to the standard color test status posted on the Test Results monitor, other colors are used to indicate specific status of tested samples from the Review/Edit window: Yellow indicates a pending rerun, when the reanalysis has not yet begun Dark Blue means a rerun is complete, and results have been generated Light / Aqua blue indicates that results are missing for at least one of the tests requested in the workorder In addition to the standard color test status posted on the Test Results monitor, other colors are used to indicate specific status of tested samples from the Review/Edit window: Yellow indicates a pending rerun, when the reanalysis has not yet begun.
