Sequence steps to process QC samples Control materials should be assayed as follows: At the beginning of each shift or at some other interval chosen by the laboratory After a reagent lot number change, After replacement of any part or component of the analytical module that may affect analytical performance Run well mixed controls at room temperature on the autosampler, in the manual closed mode or manual open mode When aspirating in the MCTS or MOTS wait for the green light to stop flashing before removing the control When running on the autosampler make sure the barcode is facing forward Barcoded tubes direct results to the appropriate QC file After running controls return the commercial control samples to the refrigerator Locate and view QC results The Data Manager stores the control results for review, validation and printing. Sample Control lists the control samples that were run and gives a quick visual of the status of QC results using the green, yellow and red color coding Validate results in Review/Edit Print results in the QC tab Color coding is used to quickly determine the status of quality results in the Sample Control Panel, Review/Edit and the QC tab. Load rack onto the input queue with the labels facing toward the front of the analyzer. The lot number will be read from the barcode label and the results will be automatically placed in the appropriate QC file. Insert and push down the tube containing the well-mixed sample into the manual closed-tube sampler. Hold the tube parallel to the sampler well wall. Sample is automatically aspirated-the sampling light flashes. When the sampling light stops flashing, remove the tube. When running the control on the analyzer the barcode of the control is scanned and then the results for that control are entered into the associated file. Commercial controls such as 3-in-1 TESTpoint® or whole blood patient controls, usually a normal patient sample, are defined in the Control Dictionary under Tools Modify. Sufficient data, based on the laboratory's guideline, must be collected for the whole blood control before completing the file setup.   Set up commercial control files Learn how to set up commercial control files. Insert the disk into the system computer or scan the control assay sheet with the hand-held barcode reader.  Select ImportHTML Select Import on the Control Dictionary window.  Select controlHTML Select a control to import from the list and then select OK to open the record. If there are no controls to import, a "no data available" message appears. Select Cancel to close the message.  Enter code nameHTML The Import Dialog box opens displaying the control record selected. Type the control code (up to six characters) you want to assign to the new control. When you select a control with a name that corresponds to an existing control, the system automatically uses the lot number to define the SID# for the control. After entering the code select OK to close the Import Data window.  Select Test PanelHTML Select the Test Panel box to include background colors in the Test Table Grid of the Sample Control Panel tab.  The green, yellow and red colors indicate the status of the QC results and are a quick visual aid indicating the quality of the QC results.  Select OK to finishHTML Select OK to complete file setup. After running the control the number of replicates required by the laboratory to collect adequate data, navigate to the Control Dictionary in Tools Modify and open the WBCONT file. Here the statistcal date collected by the system is imported into the Whole Blood Control file. The whole blood control is then run throughout the day and will be evaluated like a commercial control in Review/Edit. Select each checkbox to learn how to set up a Whole Blood Control file. Tab down to TestsHTML In the Control Dictionary, tab down to the Tests Area. You must tab down to the TESTS area first before Assay and S.D. ranges can be imported.  Import Assay and SD valuesHTML Select  “Assay and SD”  on the top of the screen. The assay values and SD ranges are imported into the TESTS area of the Control Dictionary. The results for this day's Whole Blood Control replace the previous day's results. Select OK to save the changes. When complete, select the X in the upper-right corner to close the window and continue. There are multiple options for printing QC reports. The most commonly used report is the Daily All Tests as it provides a spreadsheet view of the control results with statistics. Print Selection Learm more about Print Selection.
