Using the Quick Reference Guide Autoslide General Tips Job Aid

This job aid provides general tips when operating the ADVIA® Autoslide System.

Quick Reference Guide SIEMENS ADVIA® Autoslide System General Tips 1. Be patient. Do not keep clicking on the same command; as it may cause system lockups. 2. No barcode – No slide 3. Slides will be made from samples run on the Autosampler only. 4. If a sample has a clog at the first centering collar, a slide will not be made. 5. ADVIA 2120/2120i system must be in the Ready to Run mode. 6. View the Message Log. Select the first status message that occurred, and select Details to obtain further information regarding what caused the error. If details are not available for the first message, proceed to the Details tab of the next message. 7. View the Autoslide Status to determine which reset to do: (Autoslide Exerciser → Autoslide Status) GPE02002.005 1 of 3 Effective Date: 07/18/2011 Quick Reference Guide ADVIA®Autoslide SIEMENS Quick Reference Guide Slide Eject Rack Works If: Autosampler is not running And No slides are in wells in positions 28-32 (Autoslide Exerciser → Staining Wells) And No slides in the verticalizer in the last 2 vertical positions Reset Smearer (Operations Autoslide Control) 1. Selecting Reset Smearer only resets the Smearer side. This can be performed even if slides are staining. 2. ”Smearing Module Not Ready” message is generated. Ignore it. NOTE: This message also appears whenever the Autoslide is powered up. 3. An Autoslide Control slide is generated. 4. Allow the Reset Smearer activity to finish before clicking on another function. The Autoslide Status icon should be green before proceeding with operation. Reset Autoslide (Operations Autoslide Control) 1. This function is intelligent and will reset only those Autoslide mechanisms that require resetting on both the smearer and stainer side. 2. This function removes all slides and liquid from the cassettes. 3. An Autoslide Control slide is generated. 4. Depending on the state of the system, this may take up to 16 minutes. Stainer Evacuation (Utilities - _ Autoslide Hydraulic Functions) Evacuates and drains all wells. The Autoslide will lose its memory. All cassettes containing slides and/or liquid must be removed from the carousel and have their contents disposed of.
