ADVIA® 560/560AL Hematology System Overview Online Training

Identify key hardware and software components and describe their function. This clinical laboratory training qualifies for continuing education units (CEU).

Welcome to the ADVIA® 560/560AL Hematology System: System Overview Online Training course. The ADVIA 560/560AL Hematology System is a fully-automated hematology system for the in vitro diagnostic testing in clinical laboratories. The system provides leukocyte (WBC), erythrocyte (RBC), platelet (PLT), and hemoglobin (HGB) concentrations, along with a 5-part WBC differential measurement (LYM%, MON%, NEU%, EOS%, BAS%). In this course you will learn about the internal and external components necessary for daily operation. Select Next to continue. Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to: Identify the front panel components and describe the function of the front internal components Identify the back panel connectors and reagent connectors Describe the function of the left side internal components Explain the function of the right side external and internal components Describe the components of the Graphical User Interface Select Next to continue. It has the ability to hold and process 100 blood samples; 10 racks each holding 10 sample tubes. The racks are specially designed to allow samples to be mixed one by one when fed into the system. Racks are seated on the sample tray that moves back and forth by the Autoloader. Although it has its own power On/Off switch, the power is fed through the ADVIA 560 system. The Autoloader contains a built-in sample mixer and barcode reader allowing walk-away operation. A transparent plastic cover sits on top and contains a safety switch. If the cover is opened, Autoloader operation is automatically halted. The key ships with each ADVIA 560 Lyse 5P reagent and contains 900 measurement credits. The system counts the number of measurements performed and warns the operator when the number of measurement credits that remain is 50. Blank, Calibration, and QC measurements are included in the overall meausrement count. To navigate the system software or Graphical User Interface, which is divided into three sections, use the touchscreen with the on-screen keyboard or an external mouse and keyboard. Top Navigation Section or Header Main Display Area or Interactive Display Area Status Display Area You can turn off the on-screen keyboard if using an external mouse and keyboard by navigating to: Menu > Settings > Customize > Select the checkbox to deselect the on-screen keyboard The Top Navigation Section, which is the header, contains 5 menu icons that are visible during all operations: Measure AS - Autoloader Database Print Menu - Home screen Depending on which icon is selected determines what displays in the Main Display Area or Interactive Display Area. The selected icon is highlighted to indicate which menu you are in. The Main Display Area contains these Menu icons: Patient Exit Settings Maintenance Calibration QC Diagnostics The Status Display Area is at the bottom of the screen and contains: AS state Reagent and Waste container status Error and Warning icons Printer status Pneumatic system status Language and Keyboard Current time If your facility does not have an Auto-loader, your AS state icon will be greyed out. Select Next to proceed to the Course Review page. If your facility is either not using the Autoloader or it is disconnected, the AS menu icon will be greyed out.
