ADVIA Centaur® XPT System Sample Processing Online Training

Sample processing includes processing patient samples and monitoring sample status and results. This clinical laboratory training qualifies for continuing education units (CEU).

Welcome to the ADVIA Centaur® XPT System Sample Processing Online Training course. In this course, you will learn how to: Process patient samples using the LIS Order patients if the LIS is not operational Monitor sample status and results Transmit results to the LIS Print or export reports to keep for your records Select Next to review the course objectives.   Describe how to monitor sample status and results Describe how to print patient reports Describe how to process patient samples List the steps to export results List the steps to transmit results to the LIS Upon successful completion of this course you will be able to: Select Next to continue. Congratulations.  You have completed the ADVIA Centaur® XPT System Sample Processing Online Training course.  Listed below are the key points that have been presented.  Take time to review the material before you proceed to the final quiz. Describe how to process patient samples    Patient tests can be ordered by: The LIS - the system requests orders from the LIS when samples are loaded into the Inprocess Queue Manual Entry - used by the operator when the LIS is not operational or for non-barcoded sample tubes The steps for processing patient samples:  Load racks onto the Sample Entry Queue Press the Start button on the system The system loads the racks into Inprocess Queue and processing begins When sampling is complete, the system loads the racks into the Exit Queue Options for processing STAT patient samples: LIS - STAT orders received are given priority over routine samples STAT Entry - Samples are given priority over samples loaded onto the Sample Entry Queue STAT button in Create Patient Orders screen - Enter the SID and select the STAT button Sample Dilutions Automatic Dilutions – Dilutions that are setup in the software to automatically order a dilution if the original result is greater than the concentration limit System-Performed Dilutions – Dilutions performed by the system using an onboard diluent and ordered in the Create Patient Orders screen Manual Dilutions – Dilutions prepared on the bench and ordered in the Create Patient Orders screen Dilution Profile – Multiple dilutions ordered for a test Note: You must dilute all samples with the correct ADVIA Centaur® XPT system diluent specified for each test. Refer to the assay Instructions for Use (IFU) for more information. Test Profiles  Tests may be grouped into profiles Profiles can be used to schedule patients when the LIS is not available Ordering tests by batch mode: Order multiple tests on a group of barcoded samples Use when the LIS is not available or for a group of samples not being processed through the LIS Order a batch in the Create Batch Orders screen Describe how to monitor sample status and results View Pending Orders Screen: Displays pending test orders that have not yet started processing Test Results Overview Screen: Displays in progress orders and results Option to monitor tests using the Watchlist feature Dashboard Screen: Posts a quick view of samples and tests by their current state Describe how to print patient reports Reports can be printed for: Today's Results Results displayed on the Test Results Overview screen Custom result reports To print a result report, use the Print button on the Test Results Overview screen. List the steps to transmit results to the LIS Transmitting results to the LIS: Patient and control results can be manually retransmitted to the LIS Use the Transmit button in the Test Results Overview screen List the steps to export results Exporting results: Control and patient results can be exported to a CD or USB drive Use the Export button in the Test Results Overview screen Select Next to continue.   The Patient tab displays the following calculated risks: Age risk Biochemical risk for Trisomy 21 A combined risk of biochemical risk and nuchal translucency measurement for Trisomy 21 Biochemical risk for Trisomy 13/18 in the first trimester and Neural tube defects and biochemical risk for Trisomy 18 in the second trimester For example, in order to calculate the neural tube defect risk, you must enter an AFP test result. However, you cannot calculate the neural tube defect risk during screening in the first trimester, because AFP can be measured only in the second trimester. In order to calculate combined risk, you must enter a nuchal translucency value measured by a qualified sonographer, as well as a CRL measurement. When a risk is below the cut-off value, it is considered a low risk. The PRISCA software highlights this value in green. When a risk is above the cut-off value, it is considered a high risk. The PRISCA software highlights this value in red.  These values are configurable and can be modified in Settings > Configuration > Cut Off Level.
