Aptio® Automation Aliquoter Module Maintenance Job Aid

This job aid provides instruction on how to perform weekly and monthly maintenance on the Aliquoter Module on Aptio® Automation.

Note: This job aid is designed for systems which include "AP2" or "APT" and the letter "C" in the serial number. If your system serial number includes "APT" but does not include the letter "C", please select the Aptio Automation (Siemens) training area. 

Aliquoter Module Maintenance Aptio® Automation Weekly Maintenance Refer to the Aptio Automation Operations Manual when performing the following procedures. Empty Secondary Sample Tubes Waste Supplies needed: none 1. Select Overview 2. Select Aliquoter Module 3. Select Status 4. Select Off-line in the Status screen and select Do Not Flush 5. Open the printer door located in the left side under the labeling area. Empty and replace the container ensuring that it is in the correct position 7. Reset the secondary sample tubes counter: a. Select Aliquoter from the Overview screen b. Select Diagnostics - Labelling & BCR in the list box c. Select Tube Waste and select Empty ejected tube waste d. Set the Aliquoter Module to Off-line a. Access the Overview screen and select Aliquoter b. Select Status c. Select Off-line in the Status screen and select Do Not Flush 2. If bubbles are present in the pipettor tubing, perform a wash cycle: Select Diagnostics - Pipettor then select Init Pipettor 3. Open the door under the Aliquoter Module to access the Liquid Waste Tank area 4. Remove the Waste Tank SO 6. Empty the Waste Tank, disposing of the liquid following your laboratory’s standard operating procedures and guidelines 7. Pour in bleach (5% sodium hypochlorite) and keep in contact with the container at least 10 seconds. Access the aspiration tank and unscrew the cap 9. Remove the aspiration tank and empty it of any remaining water 10. Pour in the bleach solution (5% sodium hypochlorite) and keep in contact with the container at least 10 seconds 11. Pour the bleach solution out and rinse thoroughly with deionized water 12. Replace the Aspiration Tank to its proper position and tighten the cap (A). Replace the Waste Tank in its proper position and reconnect the tubing to the cap of the Waste Tank (B) B A B 14. Access the Waste Cup to pour in the bleach solution (5% sodium hypochlorite): a. Unscrew the knob and remove the Pipettor safety shield AA b. Replace the Pipettor shield. Tighten the knob to secure the cover 17. Reset the counter of Waste and Aspiration Tanks: a. Select Aliquoter button in the Overview screen b. Select Diagnostics - Pipettor in the pop-up c. Select Tanks and select Reset Waste and Aspiration Tanks d. Select Reset e. Select Overview 2. Select Aliquoter Module 3. Select Status 4. Select Off-line in the Status screen and select Do Not Flush 5. Open the printer door located on the left side under the labeling area 6. Clean the secondary tube presence sensor with a lint-free cloth 8. Bring the Aliquoter Module Off-line: a. Select Overview b. Select Aliquoter c. Select Status d. Select Off-line e. Select Do not Flush and confirm 2. Remove the Pipettor safety shield a. Access the Aliquoter Module and unscrew the knob b. Using the hex tool, remove the two screws securing the tip waste tube. Note the alignment of the top of the tip waste tube 4. Remove the tip waste tube. Replace the tip waste tube aligning it as noted in step 3 above. Replace and tighten the screws 6. Replace the safely shield.
