Aptio® Automation Clean Centrifuge

This video provides instructions on how to clean the centrifuge on Aptio® Automation.

It is a requirement to clean the centrifuge module weekly. The first step is to clean the centrifuge. Bucket inserts to access the inserts and perform maintenance. The centrifuge safety cover must be opened to open the safety cover. Unlock the cover by turning the Red nob on the centrifuge side panel clockwise to the unlock position. Next, gently lift the cover until the latch on the cover locks in place. Remove the center Safety access panel and place aside. Carefully grasp the front of the centrifuge robot and manually move the robot to the left side of the centrifuge module until it stops. Push the centrifuge gripper fingers to the rear of the module. This will ensure the centrifuge lid can be opened without obstructions. Remove all the centrifuge bucket inserts from the loading and unloading areas and set aside. Using a cloth moistened with detergent, clean the surface of the centrifuge. Loading and unloading areas and then rinse the areas using a cloth dampened with water. Inspect each bucket, insert for cracks and corrosion. Using a cloth moistened with detergent, clean the outside and top of the bucket insert. Next, rinse using a cloth dampened with water. Perform this for each bucket, insert and place aside. Place the bucket inserts into each location of the loading and unloading areas except the zero an A locations. Place all bucket inserts with the positioning indicator oriented tored the right side of the module. After cleaning the loading and unloading areas you have to clean and lubricate inside the centrifuge prior to cleaning. The first step is to unlock the centrifuge lid by pressing the stop open button on the centrifuge control panel. Next, press the centrifuge power switch located to the right under the control panel to the off position. Using the handle on the front of the centrifuge lid, raise it completely. Remove each of the centrifuge bucket inserts from the rotor buckets and place aside for inspection. Inspect each bucket for cracks and corrosion. Using a cloth moistened with detergent, clean the outside and top of the bucket insert. Next, using a cloth dampened with water, rinse the detergent off of the insert. Perform this for each insert and place aside. After cleaning, the bucket inserts remove the rotor buckets from the centrifuge. Using a cloth dampened with at least 70% isopropal alcohol cleaned the suspension grooves on both sides and each rotor bucket to remove excess grease. Inspect the inner and outer edges of the suspension grooves to see if there are any cracks or corrosion. If, during inspection cracks or corrosion or found contact service immediately and discontinue use, verified the centrifuge buckets are within the usable until date stamped on the bucket. Using a cloth moistened with detergent, clean the rotor pegs and then wipe the pegs using a cloth dampened with water. Perform those steps on all of the rotor pegs. Clean and inspect the large circular seal for any signs of cracks, brittleness, or wear. If during inspection, cracks or corrosion are found, contact service immediately and discontinue use. Using a cloth moistened with detergent, clean the inside of the centrifuge and then rinse using a cloth dampened with water. After cleaning, apply a small amount of headage centrifuge grease to the contact surfaces of the rotor bucket. Next, apply a small amount of centrifuge grease to the front and top half of the rotor pegs. Each rotor bucket and rotor position is numbered. Return the rotor buckets to the centrifuge, ensuring they are seated correctly on the rotor pegs. Verified the rotor bucket is in the correct location and orientation. Next, manually rotate the centrifuge rotor so the bucket insert position one is located at the front of the centrifuge. Grasp a centrifuge bucket. Insert and oriented so the positioning indicator is on the left side. Return the centrifuge bucket insert to the centrifuge bucket. Rotate the centrifuge rotor to rotor bucket. Position two. Repeat the process for all remaining centrifuge bucket inserts. Next, press the centrifuge power switch to the on position. Wait 30 seconds before proceeding to allow time for the centrafuse to boot up. After the centrifuge boots up, lock the lid by gently pressing down on it, which engages the automatic lock. Replace the center Safety access panel. Next, gently close the centrifuge safety cover by lifting the locking mechanism and lowering the cover. Make sure the cover is completely seated before proceeding. Lock the safety cover by turning the red nob on the centrifuge side panel counter clockwise to the lock position. Ensure the module is not in an error condition. Then select on line to resume operation.
