Aptio® Automation (Inpeco) Sample Processing Online Training

Load samples into the IOM. Describe the sample processing sequence. Perform a sample search. Request a sample. Unload racks from the IOM. This clinical laboratory training qualifies for continuing education units (CEU).

Note: This training is designed for systems which include "AP2" or "APT" and the letter "C" in the serial number. If your system serial number includes "APT" but does not include the letter "C", please select the Aptio Automation (Siemens) training area.

Welcome to the Aptio® Automation Sample Processing Online Training course. Aptio Automation manages sample processing from receipt to storage and improves workflow efficiency in the laboratory.  In this course, you will learn how to process samples on Aptio Automation.   Aptio is a registered trademark of Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics Inc., or its affiliates. List the steps to unload a sample tube Describe how to load and unload sample racks in the IOM Describe how to perform a sample search Describe the sample processing sequence Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to: Congratulations.  You have completed the Aptio Automation Sample Processing Online Training course.  Listed below are the key points that have been presented.  Take time to review the material before you proceed to the final quiz. Describe how to load and unload sample racks in the I/O Module When loading samples: Load samples into rack avoiding empty spaces Tubes should be straight and not tilted Identify an appropriate input lane and load the rack The IOM Robot begins loading samples into carriers on the track To remove samples: Review rack contents by selecting the IOM lane icon Unlock the rack by pushing the corresponding lane button on the LED bar Grasp the handle and pull the rack towards the operator Pull the rack completely out from the lane using two hands Describe the sample processing sequence Sample tube is loaded on to the track into a carrier. Barcode is read Routing is determined by the IOM input lane and work order If required, the sample tube is sent to the Centrifuge and /or Decapper modules Sample tube is sent to appropriate analyzers for testing After all processing is complete, the tube may be sealed or sent to a sorted output lane for further testing Sealed samples are sent to the Refrigerated Storage Module, IOM or other designated output module Describe how to perform a sample search Rapid Search bar - enter SID, PID or Name to perform a Quick search. Select SID to view Patient Details screen. Extended search feature - Select Routine>Search. Enter filter criteria. Select Search to view Patient Details screen or Snapshot to view a list of patients that met the search criteria List the steps to unload a sample tube Select Routine > Search Enter the SID. Select Search In the Patient Details screen, select Command Select Delivery Sample tube is delivered to a Priority Output lane or Sorted Output lane in the IOM Remove the rack and unload the sample tube To complete processing, reintroduce the sample to the appropriate IOM lane     When loading sample racks in the Input/Output Module: Load the sample tubes into racks leaving no spaces Place the rack in the appropriate lane IOM Robot begins loading sample tubes onto the track When unloading sample racks in the Input/Output Module: Review rack contents by selecting the IOM lane icon Push the corresponding lane button on the LED bar Grasp the rack handle, pull the rack completely out from the lane Use two hands to remove the rack completely from the IOM worktable Note: Never reach under the LED bar to load or unload sample tubes. Remove the racks from the IOM before loading or unloading tubes. Loading Samples Learn about loading and unloading sample racks in the IOM. Slide NumberText BlocksCalloutsAudio ScriptImage File1Unload Sample Tubes in Process Do not remove tubes manually from the system Use the Delivery command If the sample tube is processing when the request is made, it will complete that process before delivery   If a sample tube needs to be unloaded for processing away from the system, do not remove it manually as this will cause an error. Use the "Delivery" command in the system software. If the sample tube is processing at a module or analyzer when the request is made, the process will be completed before the sample is delivered to the IOM.2Perform a Sample Search In the system software, select Routine > Search  The first step is to search for the sample to be unloaded. In the system software, select "Routine", then "Search". 3Enter the Sample ID Enter Sample ID or other search criteria Select Search button  The search screen opens. While there are many filter options available, in this example we will search by the sample ID. Enter the sample ID in the appropriate field. Select the "Search" button at the bottom of the screen. 4Use the Delivery command In Patient Details screen, select all tests for the relevant sample ID Select Command button Select Delivery The Patient Details screen is displayed. Select all tests for the relevant sample ID. Select the "Command" button at the bottom of the screen. Select "Delivery".5Sample Tube is Delivered to the IOM Tube is marked SCOO1 - User Sample Delivery Request Tube is routed to IOM and placed in Priority or Sorted Output lane Unload the rack and remove the tube To resume processing the sample, load the tube in an appropriate input lane   The sample tube is marked with the message "SC001, User Sample Delivery Request", routed to the IOM and placed in the Priority Output lane. If configured, the sample tube may be placed in a Sorted Output lane. Unload the rack and remove the sample tube. The sample tube may be returned to the system at a later time to resume processing. Reintroduce the sample to the system by loading it in an appropriate input lane of the IOM.
