CAUTION Do not touch parts inside the printer before letting the printer cool to room temperature. Internal areas of the printer can be hot and cause physical injury. Supplies needed: Label roll ordered through Siemens. Refer to the Aptio Inventory Manager Operator’s Guide for the part number. 1. On the printer, press the LINE button to take the printer offline. Retract the used label roll lead and remove the empty label roll 5. Place the new label roll on the roll paper feeder. Thread the labels between the media guide and printer wall, under the media damper and the lavender media sensor and then through the label slot on the front of the printer. Confirm that the labels are wound tightly 7. Align the left edge of the labels (viewing the printer from the front) to about 4mm (1/8 in.) from the left side of the print head assembly, and align the black separator mark between the labels on the tear bar. Straighten the first label at the label slot to ensure the label is properly aligned Be careful of the cutter edge. 000896001 9. Move the lavender print head latch all the way to the left to lock the print head assembly. Check that the labels are properly aligned after the print head is closed 11. Select FEED and ensure that the feeding mechanism is feeding the labels correctly so that the label stops with the black mark aligned with the tear bar 15. Perform a print test • Unlock the Enter switch by simultaneously pressing the down arrow and ENTER. OFFLINE displays • Press FUNCTION. Use the down arrow to scroll to DIAGNOSTICS and press ENTER • Select Printer Tests and press ENTER • Choose a print test: o Checkerboard o Grey o Grid • Press ENTER. The printer prints 5 test labels 16. Refer to the Aptio Inventory Manager Operator’s Guide for the part number. Note: You may find it easier to remove the label roll before replacing the ribbon. Printer cleaning may also be performed when both the label roll and ribbon have been removed. After replacing the ribbon, reinstall the label roll before closing the print head. 1. On the printer, press the LINE button to take the printer offline. Open the printer cover. Move the lavender print head latch all the way to the right to open the print head assembly 4. Remove the used ribbon from the take‐up spindle (A) and the empty ribbon core from the ribbon supply spindle (B) 5. Install the empty ribbon core on the take‐up spindle (A) and push it all the way in on the spindle until it can go no further 6. Thread the end of the ribbon under the print head (A) and then up to the right and over the take‐up core (B). Ensure the ribbon is not passing under the lavender media sensor (C) D B A C A 8. Ensure the ribbon is shiny side up at the top of the take‐up spindle. Attach the ribbon to the take‐up core. Manually rotate the take‐up spindle counter‐ clockwise until the ribbon leader has passed the print head and the ribbon is taut.
