Broad Quantification Calibration Procedures Step by Step Description: This Step by Step procedure will guide the user in performing the Sensitivity Calibration and Volume Sensitivity Calibration which is necessary for the accurate quantification of Broad Quantification studies. The Sensitivity Calibration measures the difference between the system's ability to detect the radioactivity and the true amount of radioactivity using a point source and collimator. The Volume Sensitivity Calibration generates a volume sensitivity factor (VSF) using a phantom with isotope and collimator. What You Will Need: Sensitivity Source (respective clinical isotope to be calibrated) Yielding a count rate of 5-30 kcts/sec per detector Amount of activity needed to achieve this depends on the respective isotope. Here are some examples: Tc99m – 1-5 mCi o In111 – 1-5 mCi o 123 o I 1-5 mCi – *Lu177 – 10-30 mCi o o I 131 1-5 mCi – Peaking and Calibration Source (respective clinical isotope to be calibrated) Filled Uniform Cylinder Phantom (prepared with a known activity concentration reported from a dose calibrator) Yielding a count rate of 5-30 kcts/sec per detector SIEMENS Healthineers www.usa.siemens.com/healthcare HRT# HOOD5162002575206 1 of 6 Performing the Sensitivity Calibration 1. Before starting these procedures, make sure the following are complete: a. The system is homed b. The system is tuned and peaked with appropriate sources. c. Appropriate collimators are installed. 2. Mount the calibration source a. Insert calibration source into the end of the integrated source holder b. Position activity in the vial over the center of the detectors c. Make sure the count rate is between 5 and 30 kcts/sec per detector. 3. On the syngo MI Acquisition Workplace, register or select the patient and launch the Sensitivity Calibration workflow that is located in the Calibration category. 4. Select the Camera Preset a. Camera Parameters Tab b. Select the appropriate camera preset from the pulldown menu. Select the isotope being used for the calibration 5. Enter the Dose Information. a.
