Welcome to the Cios Select Software Overview Online Training. This training module will introduce you to the software features of the Cios Select system. In addition, you will learn about: Registering a patient Setting the examination parameters Post processing images Storing and archiving images  Congratulations. Download and print a copy of the Course Review Software Overview: The software of the Cios Select is accessed via the touchscreen control panel on the C-arm main unit and on the monitor trolley You make a selection in one of the following ways:  Press on the button to select a function or setting Press a button repeatedly to toggle through the selections Press on the button to select an option from a drop down menu Press on the button to open a window on the left Control panel: There are two modes on the control panel: Basic Mode Advanced Mode Basic Mode: Basic Mode provides a simpler user interface with fewer functions so that you can easily make your selection to start the examination quickly In Basic Mode there are two operating modes available: Fluoroscopy and Single image In Basic Mode default standard applications are available: Standard, Adipose, Extremity and Pediatrics Advanced Mode:  In Advanced Mode more examination and post processing settings are available In Advanced Mode the following operating modes are available: Fluoroscopy, Single image, Subtraction and Roadmap In Advanced Mode, you can select examination settings tailored to the specific body region and examination type Post processing functions are available in Advanced Mode, such as; collimation, image quality settings, image rotation, image zoom and adjusting image brightness and contrast Keyboard mode:  When text is required, the control panel automatically switches to keyboard mode The keyboard can be used to: Select the required patient from the patient list Input data Edit and correct patient information Delete patient information Filter patient information Protect patient data You can manually switch to keyboard mode by pressing the keyboard icon in the Overview menu in the Postprocessing task card in Advanced Mode Patient Registration: You can register the patient in one of the following ways: Emergency registration Manual registration for the current examination Preregistration for an examination at a later time HIS/RIS query if your system is connected to a Hospital or Radiology Information System (HIS/RIS) Select the Operating Mode and the application: The parameters for the examination are determined by the selected operating mode and the application The Operating mode sets the type of images acquired; fluoroscopy Single image, subtraction and Roadmap The selected Application sets the parameters for the examination; the dose, kV, mA and post processing parameters Basic Mode provides a simpler user interface with the most commonly used operating modes and default applications Advanced Mode offers the basic operating modes and additionally, subtraction and roadmap. In Advanced Mode, there are more applications tailored to specific body regions and examination types Basic Mode is selected by default at the beginning of the examination. At any time during the examination you can switch to Advanced Mode by selecting the Advanced Mode button on the control panel Adjust parameters: The following parameters can be adjusted during the examination on the control panel: Change the selected application or operating mode Adjust the fluoroscopy pulse rate Change the dose setting Change the image zoom Manually adjust the values for kV and mA Set the image quality setting for metal correction and to improve motion artifact Collimate the image:   Collimation can be used in the examination to reduce patient dose and improve image quality The Cios Select uses two types of collimators: Iris collimator: Provides radiation protection for the patient and personnel Semi-transparent slot collimator: is used primarily for collimation of the extremities You access the collimator functions in Advanced Mode in the Acquisition task card and the Collimator adjustment menu  Image Display and Orientation:  The left monitor displays the current live image and the right monitor displays the reference image The current live image is also displayed on the control panel on the monitor trolley and the C-arm main unit The buttons for image orientation are located on the control panel in Advanced Mode. Select the Postprocessing Task card and the Processing menu Rotate the image in 1 degree increments Rotate the image by 90 degrees Flip the image vertically or horizontally The angle of image rotation is displayed in the bottom left corner on the control panel Post processing:  You access the post processing functions on the control panel in Advanced Mode Select the Postprocessing task card Select the Processing menu In the Processing menu you adjust the following post processing parameters: Image brightness Image contrast Change the image LUT (look up table) Edge enhancement Image zoom Invert the image Image rotation and image flip Store images and Reference images:  To store images, press the button on the hand switch or press the Store button on the control panel Press the button for less than two seconds: to store a last image hold (LIH) Press the button for more than two seconds: to store a last scene hold (LSH) The LIH or the LSH is displayed on the right, reference monitor, unless the Hold Reference image button is activated When the Hold reference image button is activated, the reference image that is displayed on the right monitor will not be overwritten by new images that are saved Selecting images:  Before exporting images or starting a print job, you must select the images Change to Advanced Mode if necessary Select the Postprocessing task card Select the Overview menu Single and multiple image selections are possible. Select the suitable display mode When images are selected for export or printing, a white dot appears on the image or series Exporting images: Images can be exported to the following destinations: Removable device: CD/DVD or USB Archive node: Export to a configured archive node (PACS) via the Ethernet cable or the optional wireless network connection WLAN Another workstation: Send the images to another configured workstation within the hospital network The following types of image export are available: Standard Export: Export to configured default nodes using the press of one button Change the Export settings: Change the destination or the data type prior to transfer Automatic export: Images are exported automatically to a configured network node Printing images: For documentation purposes, images can be printed on film or on paper The target printer and image layout can be configured to default settings To print images to the default printer in the standard layout, select the Print button on the control panel The Print button is located in Advanced Mode. Select the button in the Overview Menu in the Postprocessing task card If required, you can change the layout of the images or, if configured, you can change the printer to another printer in the hospital network User settings:  Certain settings can be customized to your site, for example: Autosend and print settings Image display and filming layouts Site information Autodelete You access the User Settings by pressing the Settings button on the control panel. The Manage Tool window opens on the left monitor display. Select the User Settings icon to access the settings menu     Export destinations: Types of image export: Removable device: CD/DVD or USB Archive node: Export to a configured archive node (PACS) via the Ethernet cable or the optional wireless network connection WLAN. Another workstation: Send the images to another configured workstation within the hospital network.   Standard Export: Export images with default setting to a configured default destination using the press of one button. Change the Export settings: Check or change the destination or the data format to be exported prior to transfer. Automatic export: Images are exported automatically to a configured destination. Export using an Ethernet cable Export using an Ethernet cable Tab TitleTextConnect the Ethernet cable Prior to exporting the images, connect the Ethernet cable to the monitor trolley. You find the connection socket on the right side of the monitor trolley.   Open the export dialog To check the export settings or to change the destination or the data format to be transferred, press on the icon on the left monitor display to open the export dialog. Target type: Defines the export destination: a network node, USB or a CD/DVD. Target: Defines the configured device or network node. Format: Defines the format of the images. Private: A format which can only be read by systems with FLC software. DICOM: The standard file format for medical imaging. TIFF: PC graphics format or AVI: PC video format Export using default settings If a network node is configured as the default export destination, once the Ethernet cable is inserted, press the Export button to export images to the network node. The Export button is located in Basic Mode in the bottom right corner. In Advanced Mode the Export button is location in the Postprocessing task card > Overview Menu. Please note: Your system may be configured to display the export dialog when you select the Export button. You should check the export dialog prior to export. If the export dialog is not configured to appear, it is recommended to manually open the dialog and check the settings. Flags You can check if the images have been saved in the patient list, in the Flag column.  When some of the images in the study have been saved the flag appears with a lower case letter. When all of the images have been saved, the Flag appears with an upper case. The table below shows the flags that appear in the flag column and their meaning. A/a All/some of the images of the study were sent to the archive and the receipt was confirmed (with DICOM storage commitment). C The study was closed. No further acquisitions are possible. D/d All/some of the images were transferred to or from the CD/DVD. P/p All/some of the images were printed. S/s All/some of the images of the images were sent and the receipt was confirmed (with DICOM storage commitment). # The study was protected from deletion. * The study was received from the HIS/RIS. Export using a wireless LAN connection Export using a wireless LAN connection Tab TitleTextActivate WLAN The WLAN option enables wireless connection between the Cios Select and the Hospital network. The ON/OFF switch is located on the side of the monitor trolley. To activate WLAN, press on the button. The button will illuminate when activated. Open the export dialog To check the export settings or to change the destination or the data format to be transferred, press on the icon on the left monitor display to open the export dialog. Target type: Defines the export destination: a network node, USB or a CD/DVD. Target: Defines the configured device or network node. Format: Defines the format of the images. Private: A format which can only be read by systems with FLC software. DICOM: The standard file format for medical imaging. TIFF: PC graphics format or AVI: PC video format Export using default settings If a network node is configured as the default export destination, once the WLAN is activated, press the Export button to export the images to the configured network node. The Export button is located in Basic Mode in the bottom right corner. In Advanced Mode the Export button is location in the Postprocessing task card > Overview Menu. Please note: Your system may be configured to display the export dialog when you select the Export button. You should check the export dialog prior to export. If the export dialog is not configured to appear, it is recommended to manually open the dialog and check the settings. Export to CD/DVD or USB Export to CD/DVD or USB Tab TitleTextInsert the CD/DVD or USB USB: Place the USB into the jack at the front of the monitor trolley. CD/DVD: Press the button at the front of the monitor trolley to open the CD/DVD drawer. Place the CD/DVD into the drawer with the label facing upwards.  Do not remove the CD/DVD or USB until data transfer is complete. Please note: The option to export to CD/DVD or USB will not be available unless the removable device is correctly inserted. Open the export dialog To check the export settings or to change the destination or the data format to be transferred, press on the icon on the left monitor display to open the export dialog. Target type: Defines the export destination: a network node, USB or a CD/DVD. Target: Defines the configured device or network node. Format: Defines the format of the images. The software of the Cios Select is accessed via the touchscreen control panel on the C-arm main unit and on the monitor trolley.   You make a selection in one of the following ways:  Press on the button to select a function or setting Press a button repeatedly to toggle through the selections Keep a button pressed to select a function or setting Press on the button to select an option from a drop down menu Press on the button to open a window on the left monitor display Selection is then made with the mouse or keypad   Learn about the buttons on the control panel Learn about the buttons on the control panel Base ImageHotspotsText BlocksImage FileSome buttons, for example the Settings button, open a window on the left monitor display. You select the option from the window on the monitor display using the mouse and the touch keyboard. The system switches to keyboard mode automatically for functions that require data input. Hint: the keyboard can be opened manually from the Overview menu in the Postprocessing task card.Buttons with an arrow on the right open a drop down menu. Further options are displayed when you select this button.Most of the buttons on the control panel are operated via a single press. When you press on the button the function is selected.Some buttons require you to toggle through the selections. Press the button again until you reach the selection that you would like. In Basic Mode there are two operating modes available: Fluoroscopy and Single Image. Four default applications are available: Standard Adipose Extremity Pediatrics As default, the applications in Basic Mode are set for Orthopedic examinations. It is possible, for a Siemens Healthineers Service Representative to configure the applications to another setting, for example Vascular. Please note: If the application setting is changed, the icons on the control panel do not change. In this case, the icons on the control panel may not represent the setting behind the icon.   Learn about Basic Mode Learn about Basic Mode Base ImageHotspotsText BlocksImage FileDefault standard applications: Standard: select this setting for examinations of the body for average patients Adipose: select this setting for thicker body regions and patients Extremity: select this setting for imaging bones in the extremities Pediatrics: select this setting for pediatric patients. Please note: You should observe all workflow requirements for pediatric examinations. Refer to your Operator Manual for further information. Press the button for the required application. When pressed, the button appears lighter and the selected application appears on the left monitor display.When you select Prepare Patient the drop down menu opens with options for patient registration. Hint: The options for patient registration open a window on the left monitor display and the control panel switches to keyboard mode.Selection for Basic mode or Advanced mode. As default, Basic mode is selected. Press the button for Advanced mode to access further imaging and post processing settings. The currently selected mode is highlighted white.Radiation Block: To avoid accidental radiation release, select the button for radiation block when X-ray is not required.Press on this button to access the user settings. When selected, the task cards for the user settings opens on the left monitor display.Help: When you press on this button the online help opens on the left monitor display.The current image is displayed in the center of the control panel.Operation modes: fluoroscopy or single shot. When fluoroscopy is selected the button on the hand switch will release fluoroscopy. When single shot is selected the button on the hand switch will release a single shot X-ray.Laser light localizer (option) Press the button to activate the laser light localizer. When activated, the target crosshairs are displayed on the left monitor. If the option for the laser light localizer is not available, the button will appear dull (unavailable).  Fluoroscopy reset timer After five minutes of fluoroscopy time, a warning signal sounds. Press the alarm button to reset the fluoroscopy timer. Please note: The settings for the fluoroscopy timer are specific to each country and region.Scroll through images.Rotate the image.Hold Reference: The Hold Reference function allows you to select an image to permanently display on the right reference monitor.Store Image: Select store image to save the current fluoroscopy image. Press for less than two seconds to store a single image (Last Image Hold). Press for greater than two seconds to store a scene (Last Scene Hold).Export: Export the image using the default settings. Close Patient: Close the current examination.Current fluoroscopy pulse rate To change the pulse rate press the button. The pulse rate toggles to the next available pulse rate from 0.5 p/s to 30 p/s (continuous fluoroscopy).Dose level Press the button to toggle to one of three possible dose levels: Low Medium High When selecting different dose levels additional factors for example, pulse rate and k factor, change automatically. Detector zoom/magnification Press the button to toggle between three different zoom levels Zoom level 0 (full format) Zoom level 1 Zoom level 2 The input display is updated accordingly.  Display kV and mAs The kV and mA values are displayed in this window.Tech lock Use Tech lock to lock the current parameters when moving to different regions of interest with varying density. You can then manually increase or decrease kV and mA using the plus and minus buttons.  Change the X-ray parameters manually After activation of Tech lock, you can manually increase or decrease the kV/mA using the plus and minus buttons.  Total time of radiation for the current examination.Current angle of rotation of the image on the display.Radiation display and tube temperature Non-selectable items for display purposes only. During radiation release the Radiation display icon is illuminated. The tube temperature icon illuminates when the temperature has exceeded a limit. Further information regarding tube temperature can be located on the left monitor display. In Advanced Mode more examination and post processing settings are available. The following operating modes are available in Advanced Mode: Fluoroscopy Single image Subtraction Roadmap In addition, under the drop down menu Select Application, you can select examination settings tailored to the specific body region and examination type. Prepare Patient displays options for patient registration Application Group: Applications are organized into groups. You select the group before selecting the individual application Select Application: Select an Application tailored to the specific examination type of body region. Please note the Applications available, depend on the selected Application Group The Acquisition task card displays menus for adjustment of settings in the current work step. Select Collimator adjustment to move the collimator leaves in/out, to rotate the collimation and to change to iris collimation Select Image Quality Setting to change the parameters for image adjustment for motion and for metal correction Select Sub Road Map to adjust setting when working with Subtraction and Roadmap The Postprocessing task card displays menus for adjusting the image post processing. Select Processing to adjust the image brightness and contrast, edge enhancement, image zoom, to invert an image and the rotate and flip images. Select Overview to display options for displaying images, to export images, to print images and to activate the keyboard. In Advanced Mode some of the buttons in the 'frequently used functions' area change. In Advanced Mode the image rotation buttons are moved to the Collimator adjustment menu and are replaced by the buttons to scroll through scenes frame by frame The Export  button is moved to the Overview menu and is replaced by the button to Transfer A to B button The following parameters can be adjusted during the examination on the control panel: Change the selected Application or Operating mode Adjust the fluoroscopy pulse rate Change the dose setting Change the image zoom Manually adjust the values for kV and mA Set the image quality setting for metal correction and to improve motion artifact   Learn how to adjust parameters Learn how to adjust parameters ; The buttons for image orientation are located on the control panel in Advanced Mode. Select the Postprocessing Task card and the Processing menu. Rotate the image in 1 degree increments. Rotate the image by 90 degrees. Flip the image vertically or horizontally. Reset the rotation to the original state. The angle of image rotation is displayed in the bottom left corner on the control panel. With each press of the button the image rotates 1 degree to the right Pressing the button for an extended period, continually increases the rotation to the right Hint: You can also rotate the image using the mouse pointer on the image on the left monitor display. Click on the image and rotate as required. Rotate the image by 90 degrees.Flip the image vertically. Please note: Flipping the image causes an inverted image orientation. Take care to ensure the correct labeling of images.Flip the image horizontally. Please note: Flipping the image causes an inverted image orientation. Take care to ensure the correct labeling of images.Select Reset All to reset all image manipulations and return the image to the original state. Please note: Selecting Reset All will reset ALL image manipulations including any changes to image collimation and any post processing applied to the image.Display of the angle of image rotation.Reset the image rotation to the original state.The buttons for image orientation are located in the Postprocessing task card in the Processing menu. Alternatively, to reset all settings to the original state with one press, select the Reset All button in the Postprocessing task card, in the Processing menu. Please note: Selecting Reset All will reset all image manipulations performed and return the image to the original state. This includes collimation and any image post processing.   To store images, press the button on the hand switch or press the Store button on the control panel. When you press the button the image on the left monitor is transferred to the right monitor. Please note: Pressing the Transfer A to B button does not save the image. Images can be printed on film or on paper from a connected DICOM printer or an optional paper printer. If you are using the optional paper printer, before starting the printing procedure, make sure that the printer is turned on. Prior to printing images, you should check the settings in the printer dialog. If configured, it may also be possible to print images with a press of a button.     Print using default settings Print using default settings Tab TitleTextConfigured settings Your Cios Select may be configured to print images to a default DICOM or optional paper printer on a configured layout. The default printer and layout is set in the User Settings in the DICOM Properties menu, Printing tab.  Please note: You will learn more about the User Settings in the slide titled, User Settings. Press the print button To print images based on the default settings, press the Print button on the control panel. The print button is located in Advanced Mode. Select the Overview Menu in the Postprocessing task card. Please note:  It is recommended to open the printing settings dialog to check the printer settings, prior to printing your images. Printing to default settings should only be done if the printer and layout is known and established. Open the printer dialog Open the printer dialog Tab TitleTextOpen the print settings dialog To check the settings or to change the printer settings, select the icon on the left monitor display using your mouse. Check and update the settings Check and update the settings as required: Printer: The printer selection list contains the DICOM and Paper printers configured on the system Name: Select an entry to select a pre-configured layout Size: Available page sizes for the selected printer Layout: Available page partitions for the selected printer Other printer settings Scale: Change the scale to Auto (fit to segment), 100% or select a defined scale for the images. Print as subtracted: Subtracted images are usually printed in native display. To print the images subtracted check this box. Anonymous: Check this box to remove the patient name from the printed images. All other examination data will remain on the film sheet. Hide Text: Remove all image information from the printed image. Print icons Start the print job with the selected settings Display the print preview Check the print status Please note: When the images are printed, the letter P will be displayed in the patient list in the Flag column. After printing, the images are released for automatic deletion. Important information about the paper printer Important information about the paper printer If you have the optional paper printer installed, it is important to note that turning the printer off will not cancel the print job. Print jobs must be cancelled by a Siemens Healthineers service representative. If a print job is not cancelled correctly, it will remain in the print queue and print before the current print job. To check the print jobs in the queue, click on the printer icon on the bottom left corner of the left monitor display. Please call Siemens Healthineers Service to delete any unwanted print jobs.   Before exporting images or starting a print job, you may need to select the images.  Change to Advanced Mode if necessary Select the Postprocessing task card Select the Overview menu Select the suitable display mode. Single and multiple image selections are possible. When images are selected for export or printing, a white dot appears on the image or series. Please note: Your Cios Select may be configured to print and/or send all images.   Learn about image selection Learn about image selection Base ImageHotspotsText BlocksImage FileOverview: Display of the examination images as an Overview.Stripe: Select image stripe display if you want to select multiple images in the current series.Blow Up: Select Blow Up to display the image selected in the Overview as a full size image on the right monitor display. If the Hold Reference function is active, the Blow Up function will display the image in full size on the left monitor. To deactivate, press the Blow Up button again.Replay: If the automatic play of a scene is switched off, you can select Replay to play a scene. Normally the scene will play on the right monitor. If the Hold Reference function is activated, the scene will replay on the left monitor.Multi Selection: Allows you to select one or more images or more series individually. Select this button and click on the required images or series with the mouse.Mark: Select mark to select images or series for export or printing. When selected, the image or series will be marked with a white dot. To deselect an image or series, select the image with a white dot and deselect Mark. To select a single image select the image with the left mouse button and press Mark on the control panel. A white dot appears on the image with a number. Mark multiple images Open the image Overview. To highlight multiple images, open the Keyboard in the Overview menu. Press control on the keyboard and select multiple images with the left mouse button. White dots with numbers appear on all selected images. The number relates to the order that the images were selected. When text is required, the control panel automatically switches to keyboard mode. DICOM Properties Settings for Worklist update, setting protocol codes, Autosend of images to the network node and setting the default printer.  Examination Properties Activate special performance tests to check your X-ray system.  Site Info Institution name: Name of your Hospital or Practice Institutional Department name: Name of your department or ward Hospital Address: Address of your Hospital or Practice Patient Demographic Data: Select the patient data to appear on the monitor in addition to the patient name: the Accession number, the Request ID, the Patient ID or the patient's date of birth Daylight saving time: Set the automatic activation of daylight saving time Application selection: Activate the selection of the default application at patient close Image delete Enable auto delete: Activate autodelete Hard disc level: Autodelete will activate when the hard disc reaches this level Deletion size: The amount of hard disc space to be deleted Activation time: Set the time the auto delete will occur Activation date: Set the day when the auto delete will occur Conditions: Image pre-conditions for deletion. Hint: At least one condition must be set for auto-deletion to occur. Patient Registration Configure the information requiring input during patient registration and configure mandatory patient information. Mandatory fields will appear bold in the patient registration window and the registration cannot be completed until mandatory fields are filled Name-display format: Configure the format of the patient name on the images, e.g. last name, middle name, first name Radiation Release Passcode Set the passcode required for radiation release.
