This training module will introduce you to the hardware components of the Cios Spin system. 

Welcome to the Cios Spin Hardware Overview Online Training.  This training module will introduce you to the following components:  C-arm system  Monitor trolley  Control panel  Hand switch and footswitch  Please note: The information in this online training relates to the software version VA30B or higher.  Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:  Identify the system components  Understand the brake system and position the C-arm for examination Release X-ray using the hand switch and standard footswitch Operate the control units Congratulations. On the upper left side of the control unit, you can find the following indicator lights and buttons: - Radiation indicator - Power supply indicator, - and the buttons for lifting and lowering the C-arm 2The EMERGENCY STOP button can be found on the left side of the control unit.  Press the EMERGENCY STOP button in case of a hazardous situation to  disable motorized C-arm movements lock the electromagnetic brakes  stop radiation release  When the EMERGENCY STOP button is activated, a red lock symbol flashes on the active button. The lock symbol lights constantly on the other emergency stop components as long as the emergency stop button is active in at least one location.  To unlock the EMERGENCY STOP button, turn it clockwise when the hazardous situation has been eliminated.   Please note: When the EMERGENCY STOP button is activated, it is still possible to release radiation if you press the respective pedal of the footswitch. The EMERGENCY STOP button can be found on the left side of the control unit. Press the EMERGENCY STOP button in case of a hazardous situation to - disable motorized C-arm movements, - lock the electromagnetic brakes, - and stop radiation release. When the EMERGENCY STOP button is activated, a red lock symbol flashes on the active button. The lock symbol lights constantly on the other emergency stop components as long as the emergency stop button is active in at least one location. To unlock the EMERGENCY STOP button, turn it clockwise when the hazardous situation has been eliminated. Please note: When the EMERGENCY STOP button is activated, it is still possible to release radiation if you press the respective pedal of the footswitch. 3On the lower left side of the control unit, you can find buttons for releasing and locking the electromagnetic brakes of the C-arm.  Press the button for the brake for the desired direction of movement. The brake released indicator (open lock) lights up orange and the corresponding brake is released.  Engage the brake again by pressing the respective button. The brake released indicator goes out. The corresponding brake is locked and movements in this direction are not possible anymore.  The brakes are color-coded:  blue = orbital movement yellow = angulation of the C-arm green = horizontal movement orange = swivel the C-arm  On the lower left side of the control unit, you can find buttons for releasing and locking the electromagnetic brakes of the C-arm. Press the button for the brake for the desired direction of movement. The brake released indicator lights up orange and the corresponding brake is released. Engage the brake again by pressing the respective button. The brake released indicator goes out. The corresponding brake is locked and movements in this direction are not possible anymore. The brakes are color-coded: (1) blue for orbital movement (2) yellow for angulation of the C-arm (3) green for horizontal movement (4) orange for swivel the C-arm 4The motorization control module is attached to the right side of the C-arm control unit and to the optional remote control unit.  The motorization package allows efficient C-arm movements:  (1) Position memory: It is possible to save two specific positions of the C-arm. During a procedure, press the respective memory button to return to the pre-defined position with just one click.  To save the required position, press the lower button with the C-arm and the lock (2).  (3) You can change the angulation and the orbital position of the C-arm via motorized movements. Press the yellow buttons for angulation adjustment.  Press the blue buttons to change the orbital position.   The motorization control module is attached to the right side of the C-arm control unit and to the optional remote control unit. The motorization package allows efficient C-arm movements: The function Position memory allows to save two specific positions of the C-arm. In the standard setting, the pedals are assigned as follows:  Left pedal: radiation release in preselected operating mode Exception: Singe image when fluoroscopy operating mode is preselected Right pedal: activate Fluoroscopy In addition, the image saving function can be allocated to a pedal, if desired.  The current pedal allocation is displayed on the left screen of the monitor trolley.    Storage For secure transportation and storage, place the footswitch in the holder on the front of the C-arm main unit. Tab TitleTextHand switch You can use the hand switch to remotely control radiation release and store images.  Press the yellow radiation release button on the hand switch and keep it pressed during irradiation. The generated image is displayed on the left monitor.  Image storage Press the save key after radiation  for less than 2 seconds to save the last recorded image (LIH) for more than 2 seconds to save the last recorded scene (LSH) The images are stored in the local database. They are transferred from the left monitor to the right monitor unless the Hold reference button is active.    The C-arm system consists of C-arm with the flat detector (FD) and the single tank  Main unit with the control panel  The C-arm does not need to be connected to power supply, but is powered from the monitor trolley.  The detector housing consists of the following parts:  Flat detector  Removable anti-scatter grid  Keypad with buttons for releasing and activating brakes as well as the optional button for switching the laser light localizers on and off  Handles for manual movement/positioning of the C-arm  Learn more about the detector housing Learn more about the detector housing. Tab TitleTextFlat detector The flat detector has a high dynamic range. This enables an expansion of the application range, for example to soft tissue imaging.  Ensure that the detector is always covered by a disposable cover during the examination to protect it from fluid penetration and contamination. Anti-scatter grid The anti-scatter grid is located on the underside of the detector housing and can be removed for example for pediatric examinations.    Keypad The Cios Spin is equipped with electromagnetic brakes that you can lock and release with the buttons on the keypad (1-4). The buttons are marked with different colors according to the graduated scales on the system.  Release the brake by pressing the respective button:  blue: to allow orbital movement  yellow: to change angulation  green: to allow horizontal movement  orange: to swivel the C-arm For easy system positioning, you can use the laser light localizer (optional). Press the button (5) to turn the laser light localizers on and off.  Handles The handles for manual C-arm movement and positioning are located on the front (1) and on both sides of the detector housing (1).   Integrated in the single tank are:  X-ray tube unit  Collimator system  Dose measuring chamber (DAP meter)  Exit windows for laser light localizer Learn more about the dose measuring chamber Learn more about the dose measuring chamber The dose measuring chamber (DAP meter) is integrated in the single tank of the Cios Spin. The DAP meter determines the dose area product (DAP) and air kerma values. Tab TitleTextHorizontal support arm You can move the horizontal support arm back and forth with a maximum range of 20 cm.    Lifting column You can lift and lower the C-arm via motorized movements to three positions: Position 1 = highest level Position 2 = intermediate position  Position 3 = lowest position  To lift and lower the lifting column by motor control, press the arrow buttons on the C-arm system control unit. Ensure there is nothing in the hazard zone when lowering the C-arm.  Steering lever With the steering lever, you operate the brakes of the C-arm wheels and steer the C-arm in the required direction.  You can lock the steering lever into three positions depending on the direction you would like to move the system.    Footswitch holder You can store the footswitch in the footswitch holder on the front of the main unit during transportation.  Place the footswitch into the holder and roll up the cable onto the cleat provided.  Handles Use the handles of the main unit to move and transport the system.  The handles on both sides of the main unit are equipped with a holder for the hand switch.  Please note that the learning material is for training purposes only!
