CLINITEK Novus® Analyzer Calibrating the System Video

This video provides instructions on how to calibrate the CLINITEK Novus® Analyzer, including how to print calibration reports.

There are a few requirements that must be met in order to calibrate the system. The status of the system may be not ready if the status log displays the message calibration required. The status log must be clear of all other yellow errors. White background information messages in the status logger OK. Waste containers should not be full and the rinse container should indicate at least 20% or more full. If the waste bottle and or rinse bottle are externally plumbed, a visual check of the bottles is required. If that option is set. The two icons will not be present on the home screen. To start the calibration, select the system button. Notice that the control and start buttons are grayed out there like this, because the system requires calibration. Patient samples and controls cannot be run until calibration is performed. The other buttons are ready to go. Select the calibration button to begin the calibration process. This screen will appear only if the option for system access has been enabled to prompt you for the operator ID. When a calibration control or routine run is ordered, this screen will appear before the run is started. A minimum of two characters are required with an upper limit of no more than 10. Touch the screen to type your initials. Now that they operator initials are entered, JM Select enter. If the displayed lot numbers do not match the lot you're running, you can change or add the necessary number by selecting the change button that corresponds to the level of calibrater. You can select the correct lot number from the list of lot numbers. If a lot number is not listed, you can add it select lot 2264. The lot number has been added to the box now that the lot numbers match the calibrater's being used, you can select next. This screen shows you how to place the calibrater's in the rack. It's important to place the tubes in the correct order or the calibration will fail. After placing the rack on the rack handler, select start. The SG well is cleaned first. The screen displays a progress bar for the three minute cleaning. As the calibration proceeds, the boxes are filled with information regarding which Calibrater is being aspirated. A timeline which continually updates appears for the duration of the procedure. Tests remaining and sequence numbers are filled in. Note that the system uses K for calibration. With these numbers running from K0001 to K9999. The rack number and tube number being aspirated are also indicated. The top box is filled in with number 4 because the instrument is aspirated calibrater #4. The tests remaining decrements by one while the sequence number increments by one and shows that this is the 333rd calibrater aspirated. Raquan is displayed as it's the first track of a run. Tube number is number 2 since Calibrater 4 is in this position. The system is now processing calibrater #1. The system is now processing calibrater #2. Tests remaining sequence numbers increment by two because calibrate yrs are aspirated twice each, the status box indicates that Cole #4 has completed its calculations. The system is now processing Calibrater 3. Cal #4 is complete. The instrument has completed the Cole number one calculation. The Cole number 2 second Aspiration has completed its calculations. The Cole #3 first aspiration has completed its calculations. In approximately 7 minutes, the calibration has completed and a report is stored in memory. By selecting the down Arrow, the last line in the report will be shown. The temperature at the time of calibration is displayed on the last page of the calibration report. Recalibration of the instrument is recommended when the system temperature changes by 5 degrees Celsius. By touching the print button, the report will be printed when the send button is selected. This report will be sent to the host computer LIS. Select exit to return to the system menu. Select the home icon to return to the home screen. The information seen on the home screen shows that they analyzer is calibrated and the status log has no errors. The status of the system is ready. Controls and patient samples can now be run on the system.
