Welcome to the CT View&GO Online Training.  In this training you will learn about the routine reading workflow of CT View&GO. We will take a closer look on the following features: User Interface (CT View&GO panel, Favorite Tools panel, Image area, Series panel) Image interactions (zooming/panning, rotating, scrolling, windowing) Measurements (Distance Line, ROI Circle) Automated reconstruction using ranges (Radial range) Printing Result distribution Please note: This Online Training reflects software version VA30. CT View&GO - Benefits CT View&GO is the viewing application that can be used to evaluate the scanning results, ensure optimal image quality during acquisition, perform basic post-processing operations, and distribute results directly at the scanner. With the help of CT View&GO you can: Check the image quality of your scans Generate additional results for the radiologist Get an overview of the scanned series and all post-processing results Select the right images for printing, distribution and archiving CT View&GO - User Interface The screen layout of CT View&GO consists of: Image area: displays the images in the selected layout CT View&GO panel: provides preferred layouts for organizing the image area ​Favorite Tools panel: provides preferred tools for viewing and post-processing of images  Series panel: provides an overview of the series and instances that belong to the loaded study CT View&GO Workflow Steps  Step 1: Load Patient into CT View&GO To load patient data into CT View&GO, you have three options after selecting a patient study in the Patient Browser: Double-click the patient study or click the CT View&GO icon in the toolbar or right-click on the patient study and choose Open or Open with > CT View&GO from the context menu.   Step 2: View Images You can navigate with the right mouse button and use the selected tool with the left mouse button. The middle mouse button / scroll wheel is used for windowing and scrolling.   Zooming and Panning Images Choose Zoom/Pan from the top left corner menu. To zoom, drag the mouse pointer in the outer area of the image: dragging up zooms in, dragging down zooms out. To move the image within the segment, drag the mouse pointer in the inner area of the image.   Rotating Images Choose Rotate from the top left corner menu. To rotate an image or volume in-plane, drag the mouse next to the image border in the desired rotation direction. To perform a 3D rotation of a volume, drag the mouse in the desired rotation direction.   Orientation Cube Click one side of the orientation cube to display the corresponding orientation. Click the orientation cube to rotate the cube by 90°. Double-click the orientation cube to restore the initial orientation in the selected segment. You can also right-click the orientation cube and choose an orientation from the context menu.   Windowing Images You can window images to modify their brightness and contrast: Press the middle mouse button and drag the mouse or choose Windowing from the top left corner menu, then click and drag the mouse. To adjust the brightness of the window, move the mouse vertically. To adjust the contrast of the window, move the mouse horizontally. CT Presets in the bottom right corner menu lets you apply windowing preset values from a list.   Scrolling Images You can scroll through images by using the scroll wheel or keeping the right mouse button pressed and moving the mouse up or down.   Measurements To measure lengths you can use the distance line tool: Choose Distance Line from the top right corner menu, then click the start point and drag the mouse to the desired end point. You can also draw a circle or an ellipse ROI (Region Of Interest): Choose ROI Circle from the top right corner menu. To draw a circle, keep the mouse button pressed and drag the mouse until the circle has the desired size. To draw an ellipse, press the Shift key while drawing.   Snapshots To create a snapshot of the selected segments select the Snapshot tool from the Tool Gallery or press S on the keyboard.   Table Removal and Bone Removal To generate an optimized 3D visualization of an angiographic exam use the Remove Table tool and the Remove Bones tool in the Tool Gallery.   Creating Ranges You can create parallel, radial, radial sliced, curved, spine and vascular ranges for different body regions. To create a radial range you typically proceed as follows: Depending on the application, for a volumetric radial range make sure to switch to a layout including 3D (VRT) in addition to MPR and / or MIP.  Select the segment, that defines the position and orientation of the range and choose Ranges > Radial Ranges from the top left corner menu or select the Radial Ranges tool from the Tool Gallery. To change the total coverage of the range, drag the handles of the range definition graphic or enter the values in the Number of images field, and the Angle between images field. Click Start to calculate the range. To save the output range, click Accept.    Step 3: Print Images To send images for printing, select the required images or stacks from the segments and click the Print Image / Print Stack icon. Or select the required study or series from the Series panel, right-click and choose Print Series from the context menu. You can also drag the required study or series from the Series panel to the film sheet. To open the Printing window, click the Printing tab in the Tab area. To print out all film sheets, click the Print icon. To print out selected film sheets, right-click a film sheet and choose Print Selection from the context menu.     Step 4: Send and Archive Images To open the Send and Archive window click the Send and Archive icon in the Series panel. Select the check boxes of series to be sent. Click the Send button at the bottom of the window to directly send the selected images to the specified DICOM nodes.    Step 5: Close Patient To close the patient and return to the Patient Browser click the Close button on the patient tab and select Save and Send (results are stored on system and in archive), Save (results are stored only on system) or Discard Changes (results are not saved).   CT View&GO is the viewing application that can be used to evaluate the scanning results, ensure optimal image quality during acquisition, perform basic post-processing operations, and distribute results directly at the scanner. With the help of CT View&GO you can: Check the image quality of your scans Generate additional results for the radiologist, for example by creating ranges Get an overview of the scanned series and all post-processing results Select the right images for printing, distribution  and archiving In this chapter you will learn about the workflow in CT View&GO as well as interactions with various basic tools. We will guide you through the following workflow steps: Step 1: Load patient into CT View&GO Step 2: View images Step 3: Print images Step 4: Send and archive images Step 5: Close patient For each step you will get an overview with basic information and a screen video that shows you the corresponding user interactions. The screen layout of CT View&GO consists of an image area and several panels.  CT View&GO panel: provides preferred layouts for organizing the image area ​Favorite Tools panel: provides preferred tools for viewing and post-processing of images Series panel: provides an overview of the series and instances that belong to the loaded study Please note: To enlarge the image area, you can hide the various panels by clicking the x icon in the upper right corner of a panel. Screen layout of CT View&GO Explore the screen layout of CT View&GO Base ImageHotspotsText BlocksImage FileCT View&GO panel Provides preferred layouts for organizing the image area, for example, an overview layout (3x2) and a 3D layout (MPR/VRT). If required, you can add further layouts from the Layout Gallery. Access bar Displays the Scheduler, the Patient Browser, the Exam, and the CT View&GO tab. Favorite Tools panel Provides frequently used tools for viewing and post-processing of images. Provides access to the Tool Gallery, which includes all available tools for viewing and post-processing of images. Tools can be added to this panel via the Tool Gallery. Image area Displays the images in the selected layout. In each segment, corner menus are available. Series panel Lists all currently loaded data. ​From the Series panel, you can drag further series, other time points, or results into the image area. Provides access to the Send and Archive window to check the sending status, and to the Add Study dialog box to load additional patient data. Tab area Lists all available panels as a tab at the side of the screen. Provides also access to the Printing window. User Interface of CT View&GO Learn more about the User Interface of CT View&GO Tab TitleTextCT View&GO panel The CT View&GO panel provides icons for preferred layouts. A layout determines the number, size, and order of segments in the image area, as well as the data group displayed in the segments. You can add further layouts from the Layout Gallery, if required. To open the Layout Gallery, click the Layout Gallery icon. Layout Gallery The Layout Gallery contains all predefined layouts. (1) Private Layouts Collection of your own personal layouts. You can create, modify, and delete your own private layouts. Please note: If you do not have a Private Layouts section, you are not allowed to create private layouts. For more information, please contact your administrator. (2) Public Layouts Collection of layouts that have been predefined by a clinical administrator for your entire institution. From here, you can copy layouts to the Private Layouts section. ​Only administrators are allowed to edit public layouts. (3) Siemens Layouts (only visible for administrators) Collection of layouts provided by Siemens.  Favorite Tools panel The Favorite Tools panel provides your preferred tools and functions for image viewing and post-processing. You can access the Tool Gallery to add frequently used tools by clicking on the More icon at the bottom of the Favorite Tools area. The Tool Gallery provides all available tools, sorted according to their category, for example, Ranges Measurements or Display Types. (1) Activated tool Tool has been selected in the Tool Gallery and can be applied to the images (2) Section/Tool category (3) Active tools These tools can be applied to the currently loaded images (4) Inactive tool This tool cannot be used for the currently loaded images as some prerequisites are not given or fulfilled You can use the Tool Gallery to add frequently used tools to the Favorite Tools area. Thus, your favorite tools are always available. Another option is to open the tools directly from the Tool Gallery. Therefore, you can leave the Tool Gallery permanently open, or you can open it every time you want to use a specific tool.  Image area The image area displays the images in the selected layout. In each image segment, corner menus are available. They provide tools for image preparation, optimization, evaluation, and property settings. The corner menus can be opened by clicking or hovering the mouse over the segment corner.  They are indicated by a watermark and grouped by functionality.    Top left corner menu Image manipulation tools Top right corner menu Measurement and marking tools Bottom left corner menu Visualization functions and display types Bottom right corner menu Window settings and modality-specific presets The tools offered in the corner menus depend on various conditions, such as current step, and image and display type. Series panel The Series panel gives an overview of the series of the loaded study and groups this data according to specific criteria. (1) Expand and collapse hierarchy icon (2) Change view icon Gives an overview of the data sorted into data groups. List view: Gives a textual presentation of the data groups. Thumbnails view: Gives a preview of the data groups. (3) Add Study icon Opens the Add Study dialog box for loading additional patient data. (4) Send and Archive icon Opens the Send and Archive window in which you can check the sending status of the current study. (5) Images listed according to data attributes The sorting is structured hierarchically and the different levels are usually sorted by image attributes, for example, modality and study date on first level, and series date and time on second level. (6) Result icon Indicator that a result series has been created. If you want to load patient data into CT View&GO, you have three options after selecting a patient study in the Patient Browser: Double-click the patient study.   ​Click the CT View&GO icon in the toolbar.    Right-click on the patient study and choose Open or Open with > CT View&GO from the context menu. The patient study opens in CT View&GO and you can start viewing the images.   Text explanation is visualized in this video snippet without audio. On the following pages, we show you how to work with the Viewer and how to access important functions with your mouse. In general, you can navigate with the right mouse button and use the selected tool with the left mouse button. The middle mouse button / scroll wheel is used for windowing and scrolling.  If you double-click a segment, it will be enlarged. A second double-click reduces it again. CT View&GO allows you to add frequently used layouts from the Layout Gallery to the CT View&GO panel so that they are instantly available if you want to switch the layout. Click the Layout Gallery icon in the CT View&GO panel. The Layout Gallery window opens. Drag the required layout onto the CT View&GO panel. Or right-click a layout and choose Add to Favorites from the context menu. The selected layout is now also displayed in the CT View&GO panel. To remove a layout from the CT View&GO panel, right-click the layout and choose Remove from Favorites from the context menu. To set your personal default layout right-click the required layout and choose Set as default from the context menu. Please note: You need the clinical administrator's privileges to adapt the CT View&GO panel.   Text explanation is visualized in this video snippet without audio. You can add frequently used tools from the Tool Gallery to the Favorite Tools area of the Viewer. In the Favorite Tools area, click the More icon to open the Tool Gallery. In the Tool Gallery, select an icon and drag it to the Favorite Tools area. Or right-click an icon and choose Add to Favorite Tools from the context menu. The selected tool is now also displayed in the Favorite Tools area. To remove a tool from the Favorite Tools area, you can right-click the icon and choose Remove from Favorite Tools from the context menu. Whether an image is zoomed or panned depends on the position of the mouse pointer in the image. In a segment, choose Zoom/Pan from the top left corner menu. The mouse pointer changes shape according to its current position. To zoom, drag the mouse pointer in the outer area of the image: Dragging up zooms in. Dragging down zooms out. To move the image within the segment, drag the mouse pointer in the inner area of the image until the desired selection is displayed.   Text explanation is visualized in this video snippet without audio. You can optimize the image presentation by rotating the displayed images, or the displayed volume to the desired orientation. In a segment, choose Rotate from the top left corner menu. The mouse pointer changes shape. To rotate an image or volume in-plane, drag the mouse next to the image border in the desired rotation direction: clockwise or counter-clockwise. To perform a 3D rotation of a volume, drag the mouse in the desired rotation direction.   Please note: You can always rotate MIP and VRT images using the right mouse button. An orientation cube indicates the anatomical orientation of the image.   You can window images to modify their brightness and contrast. This often helps to recognize suspicious anatomical structures on images. To adjust the contrast and brightness, you can: Window with the mouse Apply predefined window values The current window values are displayed in the bottom right corner of an image: W (width) defines the contrast C (center) defines the brightness   Text explanation is visualized in this video snippet without audio. About windowing Learn more about windowing Tab TitleTextWindowing tools The following tools are available for adjusting the contrast and brightness of images: Top left corner menu   Windowing Changes width and center values. In the images of most modalities the window is defined by width and center. In PET, NM, or SPECT images the window is defined by the position of the lower and upper window limit (bottom and top). Bottom right corner menu Reset Windowing Resets the window values (width and center) to the values the image was displayed with after initial loading. CT Presets Lets you apply windowing preset values from a list. Windowing with the mouse You can perform windowing interactively with the mouse: In a segment, press the middle mouse button (or the scroll wheel) and drag the mouse. Or choose Windowing from the top left corner menu, then click and drag the mouse. The mouse pointer changes shape. To adjust the center of the window, move the mouse vertically. To adjust the width of the window, move the mouse horizontally. Applying CT Presets You can apply predefined windowing presets to the displayed images. Windowing level presets are predefined sets of window values.  They are configured according to the modality type and the scanned organ. In a segment, choose CT Presets from the bottom right corner menu. A menu is displayed containing all presets that are available for the modality on which the images have been made. Choose the desired windowing presets. Please note: The windowing presets can be assigned to keyboard function keys (F5 to F8). For assignment, point to a windowing preset in the bottom right corner menu, and click the settings icon. Then you choose a function key from the context list.   Saving window values You can save windowing values permanently for every image that is displayed in a segment. Click the Save Windowing icon in the Tool Gallery after adjusting the center or width of the window. Please note: It is important to save your results when closing the viewer, otherwise the new window values will be lost (even after clicking Save Windowing). Click the Save and Send icon or the Save icon in the CT View&GO panel.  The workflow is closed and the windowing values are saved in the DICOM header for every image of the series.  You can use the mouse to scroll through images: Use the scroll wheel. Or keep the right mouse button pressed and move the mouse up or down. You can also use the arrow up and down keys to scroll to the next or previous slice in space.  When you use the scroll wheel or the arrow keys, the images are scrolled one after the other without skipping images. When you scroll with the right mouse button it can happen that some images are skipped. If this mode is activated, the string Skip is displayed in the segment.  Please note: You can enable scrolling without skipping with the U key.   Text explanation is visualized in this video snippet without audio. CT View&GO offers several tools to evaluate your images. Let's take a closer look at two of them: You can use the Distance Line tool, for example, to evaluate the longest axis of a finding. You can use the ROI tool, for example, to evaluate the diameter of a finding.     Text explanation is visualized in this video snippet without audio. Drawing a distance line Learn more about measuring lengths with the Distance Line tool To measure lengths you can use the distance line tool. Choose Distance Line from the top right corner menu. The mouse pointer changes shape.   Click the start point and drag the mouse to the desired end point. The evaluation result is displayed next to the distance line and continually updated during line drawing. Please note: You can also draw distance lines in volumetric images, such as MIP and VRT images. These distance lines are marked with the extension “o.p.” (on projection), which means that the measured distance is correct but the exact depth within the volume cannot be determined. Drawing a circle or an ellipse ROI Learn more about drawing ROIs You can draw a ROI Circle, for example, to measure the diameter of a vessel. Choose ROI Circle from the top right corner menu. The mouse pointer changes shape.   To draw a circle, keep the mouse button pressed and drag the mouse until the circle has the desired size. To draw an ellipse, press the Shift key while drawing. The configured evaluation results are displayed, preceded by the graphic identification tag. Please note: To change the size of an ellipse or circle, select it and move the handles to resize the figure. When you grab the resize handle while you hold down the Alt key or the Shift key, the shape switches to an ellipse. When you release the Alt/Shift key, the shape switches to a circle again. To generate an optimized 3D visualization of an angiographic exam, it is possible to easily remove table and bones and thus obtain an occlusion-free view of the vasculature. You can use the Remove Table tool, for example, to visualize the body region of interest without interfering structures. You can use the Remove Bones tool to remove the bone voxels from the baseline of the scan and to achieve a vascular-only view. Click one side of the orientation cube to display the corresponding orientation.   Click the orientation cube to rotate the cube by 90°.   Double-click the orientation cube to restore the initial orientation in the selected segment.   Right-click the orientation cube and choose an orientation from the context menu.   Right-click the orientation cube and choose Reset position in all segments from the context menu to reset all segments to the orientation in which the images originally displayed after loading.   Text explanation is visualized in this video snippet without audio. Ranges allow you to reformat volumetric data as a series of images, for example, to create other anatomical planes or projections, or for better visualization. You can create parallel, radial, radial sliced, curved, spine and vascular ranges for different body regions.  To do this, select a Range tool from the top left corner menu or from the Tool Gallery. You can either define your own range limits, or use the range presets for the automated reconstruction process. Views for reconstruction are arranged around a pivot by defined angles. To create ranges for automated image reconstruction you typically proceed as follows: Starting radial range definition Repositioning the range (optional) Adapting the radial range Creating the range output Starting radial range definitionHTML Depending on the application, for a volumetric radial range make sure to switch to a layout including 3D (VRT) in addition to MPR and / or MIP.  Select the segment, that defines the position and orientation of the range and choose Ranges > Radial Ranges from the top left corner menu or select the Radial Ranges tool from the Tool Gallery. The layout for defining ranges is displayed. Repositioning the rangeHTML If the position or orientation of the range does not match your needs, you can reposition the range or change its basic orientation: You can zoom and pan the preview in the preview segment. This helps you to display the required image section before you start the calculation of the range output, for example, in cardiac examinations. To change the orientation of a range, you can also use the options on the Orientation tab. Adapting the radial rangeHTML To change the total coverage of the range, drag the handles of the range definition graphic or enter the values in the Number of images field, and the Angle between images field. To change the field of view, drag the handles of the FoV graphic. To rotate the range, drag the outer parts of the range center line To move the range, click the pivot or the inner part of the central range line and drag it. Creating the range outputHTML In the Ranges preview segment, choose the desired display type from the bottom left corner menu. On the Image tab, select the required Image Resolution from the list: Normal or High. Click Start to calculate the range. To save the output range, click Accept. The output range is saved with the entered name. The new range series is available in the Series panel. Measurements like Distance Lines or ROIs are laid over the images and can be saved on a snapshot. To create a snapshot of the selected segments: Select the Snapshot tool from the Tool Gallery or press S on the keyboard. The snapshot is displayed in the Series panel and also in the Send and Archive window.   Text explanation is visualized in this video snippet without audio. With the print functionality, you can expose images on film at a DICOM printer, or print them on paper on a standard Windows printer.  Printouts can be used for reporting, archiving, documentation, and treatment decisions. You can send images for printing, for example, from the image area and from the Series panel. You can scroll through the available film sheets.Tools areaFilm sheet The film sheet for the currently selected thumbnail is displayed. If required, you can modify the film sheet before you print it out. Printing of images Learn more about Printing of images Tab TitleTextSending images from image area In the image area, you can select images or series that you want to print out. These images are sent for printing, including, for example, all measurement results. To print single images, select the required images from the segments and click the Print Image icon. To print the images in a stack, select the required stacks from the segments and click the Print Stack icon. The selected images/series are sent to the printing film sheet. Sending images from Series panel From the Series panel, you can send original images or results for printing. Select the required study or series, right-click and choose Print Series from the context menu. Or drag the required study or series to the film sheet. Opening printing window After you have sent images for printing, they are available on the film sheets in the Printing window. To open the Printing window, click the Printing tab in the Tab area. Printing To print out all film sheets, click the Print icon. To print out selected film sheets, right-click a film sheet and choose Print Selection from the context menu. A print job is started. You can get information about the progress via the status icon in the status bar. Please note: If you don't want to print every image of a series, right-click an image on the film sheet and choose Smart Print from the context menu. In the Smart Print dialog box, select the Retain Every Image option and enter a number that represents the factor. For example, if you enter the number three, every third image of the series is printed. The other images of the series are deleted from the film sheet. The Send and Archive window provides an overview of the available series and results of the current study and shows the sending status of these series. During an evaluation, you can inspect all available data of the study, as displayed in the Series panel. You can exclude or include data for sending to the specified DICOM nodes. Results that have been created using CT View&GO are automatically selected for archiving. Tip: When you select the check box in the DICOM node column header, all series check boxes are selected automatically. Send series to DICOM nodesHTML Click the Send button at the bottom of the window to directly send the selected images to the specified DICOM nodes. If you want to send the images after you have completed the evaluation, click the Save and Send icon in the CT View&GO panel. The workflow closes and the selected series are sent to the specified DICOM nodes. Finally, close the patient and return to the Patient Browser. To do so, click the Close button on the patient tab and select one of the following options: Save and Send Results are stored on the system and sent to your archive Save Results are stored only on the system Discard Changes Unsaved results will be lost    Please note that the learning material is for training purposes only!
