DCA Vantage® Analyzer System Overview Online Training

Locate major system components and determine their function, navigate main screens to run test sequences, and backup, transfer, and restore system settings.

Welcome to the DCA Vantage® Analyzer System Overview Online Training Course. The DCA Vantage® Analyzer measures the percent of Hemoglobin A1c in blood, low concentrations of Albumin in urine, Creatinine in urine, and the Albumin/Creatinine ratio in urine. Tests performed using the DCA Vantage® Analyzer are intended for in vitro diagnostic use. Upon successful completion of this course you will be able to: Identify key areas of the Standard Curve screen. Describe three ways to perform calibrations on the Sysmex® CA-7000 System. Identify the steps required to set up and perform a calibration and List key points when evaluating a new standard curve.   Congratulations.  You have completed the DCA Vantage® Analyzer Online Training course.  Listed below are the key points that have been presented.  Take time to review the material before you proceed to the final quiz. In this online training course, you learned how to: Identify system hardware components and their functions The analyzer consists of four functional areas: The Reagent Cartridge compartment holds the reagent cartridges. Tests are run in this area. The analyzer can run HbA1c and Microalbumin/Creatinine reagent cartridges The onboard barcode reader calibrates the system and scan the reagent cartridges and control cards The interactive touchscreen displays messages, options, and requests for information. Operator response is made by selecting the appropriate key symbol on the touch screen The internal thermal printer provides a record of the completed test results The power cord is connected into the power cord receptacle. The system is turned on by pressing the power switch to the ON position. A Fuse Holder is located between the power cord and the power switch. The following interface connections are located on the back of the instrument: RJ45 for Ethernet devices USB for flash drive devices 9 pin for optional external barcode scanner RS232 (serial) for printer or LIS connection An air filter compartment located on the back of the system houses a removable air filter. Identify system software components The DCA Vantage® Analyzer software uses a consistent layout. Responses are entered using a numeric or alphanumeric keypad or system buttons and icons. The DCA Vantage® Analyzer does not support the connection of an external computer keyboard or a mouse to enter data. When the system is not in use for more than 30 minutes, the Power Save Mode automatically turns on. Simply any location on the screen to resume operation. The Home Screen displays after initialization of the system. This screen displays the state of the system and is the starting point for Patient and Control Test Sequences. A Test Sequence is a series of software user interface screens that guides the operator through the tasks required to perform a test on a sample. System Responses are made by selecting the appropriate key symbol on the screen.  If the analyzer is in the Not Ready state, Patient or Control Test Sequence cannot be initiated. An alert message will display the reason why the system is not ready. If the system is in the Ready State, a test can be initiated by scanning either an HbA1c or a Microalbumin/Creatinine test cartridge. The Recall Menu and the System Menu are accessed from the Home Screen. Responses are made by selecting the appropriate key symbol on the screen. Identify symbols and buttons and their functions The Home screen also displays the Navigational and Contextual Help Button Area. The Navigational Buttons include: The Menu Button provides access to Control Tests, System Maintenance, System Setting, and System Tests Calibrations and System Tests Menu allows access to the Calibrations or System Tests Menu Data Recall Menu provides access to the Data Recall Menu Help displays a Help screen with information about the screen. Help is not available on all screens Notifications or Error messages display at the Home Screen of the DCA Vantage® Analyzer, and provide you with information about the state of the system. An Event Notification window displays at the Home Screen when a maintenance task is due, an error event occurs, or a required or optical control test notification is posted. Follow your laboratory specific guidelines for the frequency to process QC material.  Siemens has several QC guideline examples, including that 2 levels of QC material be run at least every 24 hours to verify system performance and QC be done following every calibration. Siemens recommends that following a lamp change or the change of the RRV cuvettes, all analytes be calibrated and QC be performed. Lastly, Siemens recommends that following field service preventive maintenance or troubleshooting, all analytes must be calibrated and/ or QC be performed. Select the links to learn about loading QC material on the system, ordering QC tests, and monitoring inprogress QC samples.   The DCA Vantage® Analyzer Home Screen displays after initialization of the system.
