After completing this course, you will be able to: Select Next to continue. Congratulations. You have completed the Clot Check course for the Dimension®  EXL™ with LM Integrated Chemistry System. Listed below are the key points that have been presented. Take time to review the material before you proceed to the final quiz.  Identify the components of the clot check. IMT Port: The clot check feature adds a new IMT port that includes a clot check drain. After the system detects a clotted sample, the contents of the aspirated sample are not returned to the sample container. The remaining sample is dispensed into the IMT clot check drain during the clot check recovery sequence. Clot Check Transducer Board: The clot check pressure transducer board is mounted underneath the sample wheel hub. To access the board, open the 2 doors on the front of the instrument. Open the latch to the pump panel. Clot Check Sample Tubing: Clot check sample tubing consists of two pieces of sample tubing. The right piece of tubing is installed from the 100 µL syringe and is labeled "To Pump" on the clot check pressure transducer board. The left piece of tubing is installed from the sample probe and is labeled "To Sample Arm" on the clot check pressure transducer board. Clot Check Bypass Sample Tubing: Clot check bypass sample tubing consists of a single piece of sample tubing. If the clot check feature is not functioning properly, the clot check function can be temporarily deconfigured. The clot check bypass sample tubing must be installed to continue processing samples. Describe the function of the clot check. The clot check system utilizes the clot check pressure transducer board to check for clots. This action occurs during sample aspiration. The instrument will perform an automatic clot check error recovery when a clot is detected. The remaining sample will be dispensed in the drain port located in the back of the IMT sample port. The system will verify that the clot has been cleared, perform a bleach and wash sequence, rinse, and then return to sampling. Perform Clot Check Monthly Maintenance. With the instrument in Standby, press the Pause key and raise the IMT lid. Fill a disposable pipette with undiluted bleach and dispense approximately 1 mL into the clot check drain 10 times. Allow the clot check drain to empty itself before each subsequent addition of bleach. Fill another disposable pipette with water and dispense approximately 1 mL of water into the clot check drain 10 times. Allow the clot check drain to empty itself before each subsequent addition of water. Document that you have cleaned the clot check drain on the Monthly Maintenance log sheet. Access on-screen troubleshooting help. There are 5 new error system error codes for the clot check system. Press Alt/M on your Dimension® EXL™ with LM Integrated Chemistry System any time you see an error message to get on-screen troubleshooting help. The new codes are: (864) Sample Probe Clot - unable to clear (865) Clot Check Error - sample aborted (866) Clot Check hardware failure (867) Clot Check Error - hanging clot (868) Sample probe failed to enter the drain Reprocess samples with clot errors. All clot check errors will populate the new clot check status in the Load List. Samples with clot check errors can be rerun from the Load List. Select Next to continue.     The Dimension EXL® with LM™ Integrated Chemistry System now has the ability to check for clots during sample aspiration.  Clot check is performed on every sample. Clot check is performed during sample aspiration. Clot check does not affect turnaround time, time to result, or throughput. Clot check functions with CSF, serum, plasma, whole blood, urine, and QC sample types. Select Next to continue. Clot check functionality adds additional system error codes.
