The Dimension Vista® System provides integrated technology, supports high volume test through-put, and can run different methods simultaneously. This is accomplished through the multi-tasking ability of various components on the instrument. An example of this is the instrument’s use of different probes during sample processing. These probes function as pipettes and are used to aliquot samples, perform dilutions and transfer sample to cuvettes or LOCI® vessels. In addition, they are responsible for the preparation of Flex® reagent cartridges and the transfer of reagent to cuvettes or LOCI® vessels. The probes are positioned on specific arms which move them to the appropriate locations when needed. In order for the probes to accomplish these tasks, they need to be able to move without obstructions and maintain precise positioning onboard the instrument. Weekly Maintenance includes the following tasks: Clean the outside of the HM wash probes Clean the outside of the R2 probe and nut Update the Maintenance log    TIP: Refer to the Operator’s Guide for details on how to perform each maintenance task. Clean HM Wash ProbesHTML  Remove any residue by cleaning the wash station probes weekly with water. With the system in Standby, start this maintenance procedure by going to the HM Pump Prime screen to prevent any automatic priming of the HM wash probes.  To display the Pump Prime screen, from the Operating Menu, select F4: System Prep, F7: Pump Prime and F7: HM. If the media does not automatically start, select the play arrow to begin.Clean R2 Probe and NutHTML  Perform this task from the HM Pump Prime Screen.  Clean the R2 reagent probe weekly using 0.1N sodium hydroxide to remove any residue.  Be sure to scrub the nut at the top of the probe during this cleaning procedure. Replace IMT Pump TubingHTML  The X tubing which stretches around the IMT pump assembly must be replaced monthly to compensate for wearing and stretching, which can affect sample positioning as the pump pulls air and fluid segments through the IMT system. If the media does not automatically start, select the play arrow to begin.Clean the IMT SystemHTML  The IMT system tubing and IMT port need to be cleaned with bleach which destroys sensitive electrode membranes in the QuikLYTE® multisensor.  In addition to monthly maintenance, the IMT QuikLYTE® multisensor is replaced every 5 days or 1000 tests. The system will alert you when this maintenance is required.   If the media does not automatically start, select the play arrow to begin.  Stylette HM Wash ProbesHTML  The HM wash probes are styletted to remove any protein build-up from inside the HM wash probes. Do not remove the probes when performing this procedure. Only stylette the aspirate (bent top) probe on each wash probe. If the media does not automatically start, select the play arrow to begin.Replace HM Pump HeadsHTML  HM pump heads are changed monthly to compensate for the wearing of the pump tubings. Only the HM pump heads on the wash station are required to be replaced monthly. The shipping plug (or “T”) must be inserted into the pump head before installing onto the motor to prevent damage to the pump rollers as the pump head is pushed onto the motor shaft. If the media does not automatically start, select the play arrow to begin.Replace Air FiltersHTML Replace the air filters to ensure air circulating in the instrument is free of dust and debris. There are 4 filters to replace: Cabinet filter on back (bottom right), Power Supply filter beside power switch (bottom left), Cuvette Ring filter located on the right side of the instrument (top left) and Thermal Chamber filter (top right). The air flow arrow on the new filter should point IN toward the instrument. The thermal chamber filter is not cleaned, but replaced every month. It does not have any air flow arrows and cannot be installed backwards.Update Maintenance LogHTML Update the Maintenance Log after completing monthly maintenance tasks. Select the X in the upper-right corner to close the window and continue. Cycle-based Maintenance refers to tasks that need to be performed based on a systems cycle counter and include the following: Clean the sample probe and drain Replace the cuvette diaphragm Replace the cuvette film cartridge Replace sampler and reagent probe tips (R1 and R2) To access the System Counters screen, select F4: System Prep, F6: Sys Counters.  The System Counters screen also can be accessed from the Daily Maintenance Routines screen when other maintenance is required. Clean Sample Probe and DrainHTML Clean the photometric sample probe and drain every 20,000 samples to remove protein buildup and prevent residue from entering the system and to maintain the precision and accuracy of the photometric sampling system. In the Pos field on the System Counters screen, type the segment position where you will place the Sample Cup filled with undiluted bleach to clean the sample probe. Follow the screen prompts. The sample probe will move up and away from the drain to allow manual cleaning of the sample probe drain. Use a disposable drain brush and a 10% bleach solution to clean the sample probe drain. Use your laboratory‘s biohazard waste disposal procedures when discarding this brush.Replace Cuvette DiaphragmHTML  The cuvette diaphragm assists in the formation of cuvettes and should be replaced every 12,000 cycles. When working in the cuvette manufacturing area, be careful not to touch the U-seal solenoid which can be extremely hot. New cuvette diaphragms are packaged with new cuvette film cartridges. Look in the center of the cartridge and do not accidentally throw these away. If the media does not automatically start, select the play arrow to begin.Replace Film CartridgeHTML Replacing the film cartridge ensures the system has enough film to make cuvettes onboard the system. The cuvette film cartridge makes approximately 12,000 cuvettes. The instrument alerts you when there are 300 or fewer cuvettes remaining on the cartridge by displaying an icon in the Operating Conditions Status area.  With the new film cartridge in place and the new film correctly aligned and taped to the old film, hanging down from the instrument, select F1: Load Film. Wait for the counter to reset to 12,000 and movement to stop to complete the procedure.Replace Probe TipsHTML  Replacing probe tips ensures the accuracy and precision of the sampling and reagent delivery systems. Replace probe tips that have reached a certain cycle count as indicated on the System Counters screen.   If the media does not automatically start, select the play arrow to begin. These tasks are performed during Periodic Maintenance: Replace Photometer Source Lamp Clean Cuvette Windows Periodic Maintenance tasks Learn about Periodic Maintenance tasks. Replace Photometer Source LampHTML  Replace the source lamp in the cuvette thermal chamber when the lamp burns out or as part of troubleshooting. There are 2 procedures for cleaning cuvette windows: clean all or clean bad (dirty) windows. In the video, the access mode selected is: Access All. Listed below are the key points that have been presented.  Take time to review the material before you proceed to the final quiz.  Recall the Daily Maintenance tasks Daily maintenance tasks consist of cleaning the sample area, emptying the cuvette waste, checking for Other Maintenance requirements on the Daily Maintenance Routines screen, running a System Check and Updating the Maintenance Log. The tasks must be performed at least once every 24 hours. Identify Weekly Maintenance tasks Clean the HM wash probes: Use water to remove residue from HM wash probes. While performing this task, use the HM Pump Prime screen to prevent automatic priming of the wash probes. Prime HM Wash following cleaning.   Clean the R2 reagent probe and nut: Use 0.1N sodium hydroxide to remove any residue from the R2 reagent probe and nut at the top of the probe. Identify Monthly Maintenance tasks Replace IMT pump tubing: Replace the X tubing around the IMT pump to compensate for wearing and stretching, which can affect sample positioning across the QuikLYTE® multisensor.   Clean the IMT system: Bleach the IMT system when it’s time to replace the QuikLYTE® multisensor and update the count. Bleach destroys sensitive electrode membranes, so be sure to change the QuikLYTE® multisensor AFTER the bleaching procedure has been completed.   Clean and replace instrument air filters: All filters can be cleaned and reused except the thermal chamber filter, which must always be replaced.   Stylette the HM wash probes: Remove residue from inside the probes. Identify Cycle-based Maintenance tasks Clean the sample probe and drain: Use undiluted bleach to clean the sample probe, and 10% bleach solution to clean the sample probe drain.   Replace the cuvette film cartridge: If 300 or fewer cuvettes remain on the cartridge, an icon appears in the Operating Conditions Status area on the system computer monitor.   Replace the cuvette diaphragm: Before removing the cuvette diaphragm, on the System Counters screen, press F2: DIAPH CHANGE to de-energize the U-seal solenoid. New cuvette diaphragms are packaged with new cuvette film cartridges.   Replace sample and reagent probe tips (R1, R2): Sample and reagent probe tips fit inside sample and reagent probe nuts. Always replace the probe locking nut when you replace a probe tip. After the sample probe tip is replaced, perform a probe alignment. Identify Periodic Maintenance tasks Replace the source lamp: Before replacing the source lamp, be sure to perform a Controlled Power Shutdown. After replacing the source lamp, you must also perform a photometer alignment, mAU offset calibration, run a System Check, run QC, and recalibrate all turbidimetric test methods.   Clean cuvette windows: Use the Window Check screen to select cuvette cleaning options, such as cleaning all or only bad cuvette windows, or replacing windows for cleaning at another time.
