epoc® Enterprise Data Manager Settings Online Training Course

Settings includes identifying the Users, Groups and Host Settings pages as well as how to identify and manage users in the EDM software.

Welcome to the epoc® Enterprise Data Manager Settings Online Training Course. The EDM settings tab allows the operator to customize the page options within the EDM software through the following options: User settings Host Settings Departments Configurations QA Schedules Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:  Customize users and groups through the user settings tab Manage epoc Host configurations settings using the host settings tab Configure and customize epoc Hosts for specific departments through the departments and configurations tabs Configure QA schedules through the QA schedules tab Manage EDM settings through the EDM settings tab Congratulations. You have completed the epoc® Enterprise Data Manager Settings Online Training course. Listed below are the key points that have been presented. User Settings Page Allows the operator to make additions and modifications to user accounts for the epoc Host and EDM.  To add a new user: Enter a User ID, Name, Password and confirmation of password into the appropriate fields Set an expiration date  Check off applicable group names. The task names that have been enabled will be checked off in the table Select Add  ​ Once added, the user ID, user name and account status will be displayed in the table on the left side of the screen. Group Settings Page The Groups page allows enabling of permissions for specific tasks and assigning them to a group. A user is assigned to a group to provide them with these group permissions. To access the Groups page from the top menu, first select settings, user settings, and finally, groups.  To add a new group, type the group name and description into the designated area on the right side of the screen and select Add when finished. To delete or modify a group, select the correct group name from the table on the left side of the screen. This will enable to Delete and Save buttons at the bottom of the screen. To delete a group, select Delete. To modify, select the Modify button at the bottom of the page. Next select Save to complete the changes or Cancel to exit the Delete/Modify mode.  The operator can assign specific permissions by selecting specific tasks listed in the table on the right side of the screen.  Host Settings Page epoc® Host configurations are managed through the Host Settings pages. There are separate pages dedicated to: Setting Units  Setting Ranges Loading Software Updates eVADS To access these pages, select the Settings tab from the top menu. Next, select the host tab. Finally, select one of the four menu items that appear on the side of the original menu. Departments Page    Configurations and epoc Hosts are assigned to departments to allow unique settings of a configuration to be used in a specific department. During synchronization, the configuration assigned to a particular department will be sent to each epoc Host assigned to that department. Test results and QA information received from epoc Hosts during synchronization can be sorted and filtered by the department to generate various reports. To access the Departments page, first select the settings tab from the top menu. Next, select departments. Configurations Page  There are a number of Host settings that may be configured uniquely and sent to specific Hosts assigned to specific departments. These Host settings are grouped together in Configurations, which can be then assigned as needed.   To access the Configurations page, select the Settings tab on the top menu. Next, select Configurations.    Click the Add button to create a new configuration Enter the new Name and Description under the Add New Configuration option and press Save Configurations may then be edited by clicking on a configuration’s row in the table under currently defined configurations. The name and description can be modified in the editable fields to the right. Press Update to retain the changes. The current settings for the selected configuration are displayed under Configuration Details and can be modified Configuration details are arranged with tabs for: Host settings, Test selection, Sample Types, 1D Barcodes, and 2D Barcodes. Open each tab to access editable fields. Press the Save button after finishing making changes. QA Schedules Page  To configure QA schedules, go to Settings, then QA Schedules. After a QA schedule is configured, it can be assigned to a department from the Departments page. Each department can have its own QA Schedule. It will apply to all Hosts assigned to this department. Refer to "Appendix E User Guide: Enhanced QA Features for the epoc System” at  the end of the epoc System Manual for details on configuring QA schedules.  Note: All required QA testing must be completed before enabling QA Schedules. EDM Settings Page The EDM settings page is arranged with tabs for: Hospital name, Sites, Language, Timeout, Unsaved test records, EDM interface settings, and About EDM (read-only). To access the EDM settings page, first select the settings tab from the top menu. Next, select EDM settings.   The Users page allows the operator to make additions and modifications to user accounts for the epoc Host and EDM. The Users page can be accessed from the top menu by selecting Settings, then User settings, and finally Users.  User Settings Page Learn more about the user settings page. Finally, select one of the four menu items that appear on the side of the original menu.  Note: Software upgrade files can be accessed from the Siemens Laboratory Diagnostics Document Library as well as via epoc Live Update Service (eLUS).  Host Settings Page Learn more about the host settings page. Tab TitleTextUnits The Units button is selected from the drop-down menu in order to modify units of measurement. Once complete, select the Save Changes button to display the new range values.  Ranges The Ranges page displays reference and critical ranges for all analytes and for selected test and sample type.To change the Range Values, select your choices for Test Type and Sample Type. Enter new values into appropriate areas and press Save Changes. Changes may be applied to more than one sample type by checking desired sample types displayed on the right of the Main Range Values Table. Software Updates Use the Software Update page to upload software updates for the epoc Host and Reader:   1. Press the Browse button to select an upgrade file supplied by the Siemens representative. When the file is selected, the file path is displayed; 2. Press the Verify button to upload the file to the server. If the file contains a valid Software Update, the Host and Reader Update Versions are displayed below the Verify button; 3. Press the Accept button to accept the file 4. The new software update is now available to be uploaded to each epoc Host Software upgrades can be automatically downloaded to the epoc Host at the next synchronization by checking the applicable boxes on the right side of the screen.  eVAD Update Electronic Value Assignment Datasheets (eVAD) are available for download at the Siemens Laboratory Diagnostics Document Library. After obtaining an eVAD file and verifying its version, use the eVAD page to upload eVADS to epoc Hosts.  To load the new eVAD file into the epoc Host: Press the Browse button and find the valid eVAD file Press the Verify button to validate the file and display details Press the Accept button to store the valid file Synchronize the host with the EDM  Configurations and epoc Hosts are assigned to departments to allow unique settings of a configuration to be used in a specific department. Select the Add button. Next select a name for the QA schedule and select update.  Quality ControlHTML To define the Quality Control settings, select a Defined QA schedule from the menu on the top of the screen. In schedule settings, select the quality control tab and fill in the information to set a new quality control schedule. Select save to save the schedule. Be sure, to select Lock or Ask in order to fill in the information needed to schedule quality control.  Calibration VerificationHTML To define the Calibration Verification settings, select a Defined QA schedule from the menu on the top of the screen. In schedule settings, select the Calibration Verification tab and fill in the information to set a new calibration verification schedule. Select save to save the schedule. Be sure to select Lock or Ask in order to fill in the information needed to schedule calibration verification.  Electronic QCHTML To define the Electronic QC settings, select a Defined QA schedule from the menu on the top of the screen. In schedule settings, select the Electronic QC tab and fill in the information to set a new Electronic QC schedule. Electornic QC tests can be scheduled by the following schedule choices: fixed weekly, monthly and/or bi-annually.  Select save to save the schedule. Be sure to select lock or ask in order to fill in the information needed to schedule Electronic QC. When the operator selects Lock, the Electronic QC will perform automatically at the specified date/time as locked into the EDM software. If the settings are set to Ask, the software will ask the operator if they would like to perform Electronic QC as scheduled.  Thermal QAHTML To define the Thermal QA settings, select a Defined QA schedule from the menu on the top of the screen. In schedule settings, select the Thermal QA tab and fill in the information to set a new calibration verification schedule. Select save to save the schedule. Be sure to select Lock or Ask in order to fill in the information needed to schedule Thermal QA.  The EDM settings page is arranged with tabs for: Hospital name, Sites, Language, Timeout, Unsaved test records, EDM interface settings, and About EDM (read-only). To access the EDM settings page, first select the settings tab from the top menu. Next, select EDM settings.  EDM Settings Page Learn more about the EDM settings page. Enter the name and address. Select Save.  SitesHTML Enter a new site name by selecting the Sites tab. Enter the site name into the box then click Add. The site name will appear in the box below the clear button in the software. LanguageHTML To select the language the EDM will display in, select the language tab at the left side of the screen. Select the preferred language from the drop-down menu and select Save.  TimeoutHTML To set the idle timeout time, select the Timeout tab on the left side of the screen. Select the time from the drop-down menu. Select Save.  Unsaved Test RecordsHTML To access the unsaved test records folder, select the Unsaved Test Records tab on the left side of the screen. The folder web address will be listed in the middle of the screen. Interface SettingsHTML To set the EDM interface settings, select the EDM Interface Settings tab on the left-hand side of the screen. Check off the necessary boxes (or uncheck to remove) and select Save. About EDMHTML The current version of the EDM software and the date it was installed can be viewed on the About EDM tab.
