epoc® Blood Analysis System Software Overview Online Training

Software overview includes identifying the steps to log in and out of the software, identify and describe the parts of the user interface and how to navigate through the software to access QC and patient test results.

Select records to view on a separate screen ​Testing Mode ​The following information is displayed when conducting a test: Test Type: Blood or QA Reader Battery Level: Green or Red depending on the charge level Progress Bar: Progress of timed events during a test is displayed Message Box: Displays text and error messages ​Main Reader Screen The Main Reader Screen displays all Readers available for use. The Main Reader screen can be accessed by pressing the epoc Readers tab at the bottom of the epoc screen. Reader Screen Test Results Page- The Test Results page displays all information and starts information in a test about a test in progress and the results of a test once the test is complete.  Test Information Page- The Test Information page allows for user input for optimal information for the test. Test Selection Page- The Test Selection page permits for the selection of analytes during testing.  Print Button- The print Button appears only if there are printers configured. Tap the print button to send test results to a printer connected to the Host. The print button is not enabled during a test.  Save Button- The save button is enabled only after a test is completed. Information enabled during a test is automatically saved as the test completes. Information entered after the test has completed must be saved by pressing the save button. Red X Button- Tap the red X button to cancel the test and close the Reader connection.  Test Results Page The Test Results page displays all information and starts information about a test in progress and the results of a test once it is complete.  Test in progress- The Progress Bar displays the progress of timed events and their title The color of the Progress Bar varies with each event The Message Bar displays all instructions, errors and messages during the test Completed test- Completed test results are displayed under three tabs: Gases+, Chem+, Meta+. Click on the tabs to display each set of results data. Results displayed depend on the Test Card type and tests selected.  Critical Values Page After completing a test, if one or more of the test results fall outside of its critical range and the Host has been configured to flag critical results, the results will appear in bold red with out-of-critical-range indicator and the Critical Actions button displayed. Tap the doctor button to open the Critical Actions Window, where actions by the operator may be entered.  Test Information Page Patient ID- Use Pat ID 1 and ID 2 fields to enter sample identifiers. Pat ID field can be accessed from any page. ID2 may be used to enter alternate sample identifiers such as an order number. Hemodilution- Use the Hemodilution field to select the hemodilution factor for Hematocrit. Selecting Yes corrects the Hematocrit result for the hemodilution. Sample Type- Select Sample Type to stamp the test record for identification purposes. Associated with each sample type are unique reference and critical ranges that are applied to the test results and are configured by the System Administrator.  Age and Gender- Use the green arrows located on each side of the page to enter the age and gender information of the patient.  Temperature- Use Temp to enter patient's body temperature to obtain temperature corrected values for pH, pCO2 and pO2. Temperature measuring units are set by the administrator to Fahrenheit or Celsius. Reject Test- If allowed to reject tests, the user can do so by selecting the Reject Test box. The EDM will mark this test record as rejected and will not send it to the lab information system. Comments- In the Comments box, enter test-related comments to save with the test record.  Test Selection Page The Test Selection Page provides the operator the option of which analytes to choose for testing.  Use the check boxes to select the proper analytes for testing Use the four quick buttons located on the right side of the screen to make multiple selections as described Healthcare institution policy may require selection of analytes for testing. Ploicy is set in the Host application by the system administration When required, analytes must be selected before the end of the test ​ Respiratory Therapy Parameters Use the green arrows at the side of the main Test Information page for entry of Respiratory Therapy parameters. Dropdown box choices: Draw site- Art line, R/L Radial, R/L Brach, R/L Fem, Central Line, R/L Heel, R/L Finger, R/L Toe, PICC, PA, RA, RV, Swan Ganz, UAC and UVC. Allen's Test- Positive, negative and NA.  Del. System - Adult Vent, Aeromask, AeroTX, AquinOx, Bagging, BiPAP, Cannula, CPAP, ET Tube, FaceTent, HFJV, HFNC, HFOV, Incubator, Neo Vent, NRB, Optiflow, Oxy Hood, Oxy Mask, Pedi Vent, PRB, Room Air, T Collar, T Tube, Vapotherm, and Venti Mask. Mode- AC, BiLevel, CPAP/PS, PAV, PC, PC/PS, PRVC, PRVC/PS, PS, SIMV, SIMV/PC, SIMV/PS, TC, VC, BiVent, NCPAP, NIV, SIMV(PC)+PS, SIMV(PRVC)+PS, SIMV(VC)+PS, VS. Units- Percentage and lpm. FiO2/VT/RR/RQ- Require numeric data entry.  Viewing Tests Mode View tests- To view test results, select the View Test option from the new menu.  Filter test results- Narrow test results by selecting the filter page option at the top left side of the page. Enter search parameters such as operator and/or date range to limit the results. Simple Search Results- Use the simple search page to search for test results using patient ID or Lot number.  Advanced Search Results- Use the advanced search page to search for test results by entering multiple parameters into the blank boxes. Simple Search Clear Selection- Tap the clear option to remove Patient ID or Lot number. Advanced Search Clear All Selection- Select the Clear All option to remove all entered text. Apply Parameters- Tap apply on either the simple or advanced view pages to view filtered results.  Dropdown box choices: Hold the stylus on the desired test result row momentarily. A new menu opens.  Select View this test  from the menu Go back to the list by tapping Tests at the bottom left corner of the screen to select a new test to view. Multiple tests open in separate tabs at the bottom of the screen to select another test to view. Tap the tabs to move between multiple test results.  ​Printing a test result: To print a complete test result: Hold the stylus on the desired test result momentarily. A new menu opens.  Select Print this test from the menu, or print the result by tapping the print icon in the upper right corner of the screen while on the Test results tab. ​Viewing Electronic QC To view Electronic QC, tap the toolbar at the bottom of the screen to open up the menu with four options.  ​View EQC- Select View EQC to display a list of electronic QC records. Select record- Press and hold the stylus momentarily on the row with the desired record.  View this record- A new menu window opens. Select View This Record from the menu.  Electronic QC- Go back to the list by tapping on Electronic QC at the bottom left corner of the screen to select another record to view. Tap tabs to move between multiple electronic QC records. Refresh the list by tapping the refresh button located at the top right of the screen if required.  ​ The epoc® Host login screen appears when the operator powers on the Host, after any Reset, or after the operator logs out of the epoc Host Application. To log into the epoc Host: Enter an administrator or operator username into the User ID area of the screen by using the supplied stylus or by entering it manually using the keypad  Enter an administrator or operator password into the Password area of the screen by using the supplied stylus or entering it manually using the keypad Select Login using the supplied stylus The epoc® Host has a simple, intuitive user interface. Tabs within the software allow the user to enable fields for text input. Buttons perform actions and enable fields for text input. The user interface has the following key areas: Toolbar Screen Tabs Page Tabs ​Note: The epoc® Host software needs to be updated every six months. Please refer to the System Manual for instructions on how to update the software. Host Application User Interface Learn about the application user interface Base ImageHotspotsText BlocksImage FileThe toolbar at the bottom of the screen contains Menu items and Toolbar buttons. The Text Input button is located here. Screen tabs are located near the bottom of the screen and allow the operator to toggle between different screens of the software. Screens are available for each connected Reader and for each opened Test Record. Page tabs are located across the upper left corner of the screen. The print and save buttons are located in the upper center of the screen which are unavailable for use when colored gray. Note: The QA testing option for users will depend on whether or not rights have been granted by the administrator.  The Main Reader Screen displays all Readers available for use. The Main Reader screen can be accessed by pressing the epoc Readers tab at the bottom of the epoc screen. The action dropdown contains selections for Notify Physician, Notify RN, Repeated Test, Sent to Lab, Expected Values and Other.Select Notify to enter text information such as the name of the physician who was notified. If Action is selected, a text entry is required for a valid action to occur. Select Yes or No to record the action of reading back test results. The time and date of the action is automatically recorded using the current time and date. Tap Change to edit the time and date.Tap Save to keep all text entered. The window closes after selecting the save option.Tap Cancel to close the window. No critical values action changes will be saved.  The Test Information Page allows for user input for optimal information for each test. Some calculated or corrected results may not be available unless data boxes are filled in. Use the optional fields on this page to enter test specific data. Enter patient information at any time during the test. Information entered prior to the end of the test is saved automatically with test results when the test is completed. Save any information entered after the test completion before the next test begins by tapping the Save button.
