Fast DIXON

This Job Aid provides an introduction of Fast DIXON.

Fast DIXON Job Aid Fast Dixon (TSE DIXON) Fast DIXON is used to reduce acquisition time and thereby reduce motion artifacts e.g. for Breast examinations. This dual-echo DIXON technique acquires in-phase and opposed-phase echoes consecutively within one echo train. This implies that the acquisition time is reduced whilst maintaining other imaging parameters. This sequence diagram depicts a Single Echo Train for a Fast DIXON sequence with a Turbo Factor of 3. Clicking the button to the right of the Dixon checkbox (1) launches a window with access to the additional selections detailed below. This can be activated through the Fat-Water Contrast. @ 5 sec Auto @ None @ 4.7x4.7x5.0 mm2 1.00 Routine Contrast Resolution Geometry System Physio Inline Sequence Common Dynamic TR 550,0 ¢ ms Fat-Water Contrast Fast Dixon 30,00 ms Fat Saturation Strong Dixon ? x Original Echoes Water Fat In Phase Opposed Phase Close Fast DIXON for 3T Systems Fast DIXON as implemented on 3T Systems has the ability to select Asymmetric echo acquisition to enable larger matrix sizes or smaller field of views. Asymmetric echo is located on the Sequence > Part 1 Parameter Card. When Asymmetric Echo is activated on 3T systems, it increases the distance between the inphase and opposed phase echoes.
