Fluorospot Compact Module 4 - Managing Studies and Images

The Fluorospot Compact (FLC) is the name given to the digital imaging platform associated with our Radiography and Fluoroscopy systems. This training is designed to familiarize the user with all tabs and buttons on the FLC.   This training is designed to familiarize the user with the tools to manage Patient studies and images.  The training will also cover the tools to manage patient studies and images.  In this module we will cover the tools designed to manage, review and archive patient studies.

Welcome to the Fluorospot Compact web based training series. This series of four modules will cover examination workflow, study and image handling, basic system setup, and postprocessing functions. In this module we will discuss tools for study handling, tools for image handling, and tools for reviewing and archiving images. You should now be able to: Successfully modify, delete, protect and archive patient studies. Review, film, mark, store images Import/Export images Utilize system management tools By the end of this module, you will be able to: Successfully modify, delete, protect and archive patient studies. Review, film, mark, store images Import/Export images Utilize system management tools In this section we will cover all the tools the FLC offers to handle patient studies. To modify a patient study, highlight the desired patient and select the “Modify Study Data” button Make desired changes to the study information, making sure all bold fields are populated Select “OK” to keep the changes, which will immediately display All modifications are occurring to the entire study, not the individual image To activate “Protection” of a study, highlight the desired study and select the “Protect Study” button. To remove the protection, select the patient study and deselect the “Protect Study” button. When a study is “Protected”, it cannot be deleted To activate a filter within the Examined Patients list, highlight the patient study and then select the “Filter Study List” button In the pop-box, check mark the desired filters (Printed, Sent, Archived, CD-R, Closed, Retrieved, Worklist, or Protected) that apply to the desired outcome Choose to either “Show” or “Hide” the studies To reset the filters select the, “Reset Filter” button within the pop-up box   MPPS stands for Modality Performed Procedure Step To use this function select the desired patient within the Examined Patient tab, and then select the MPPS button Any patient study that has been completed will have the “C” in the flag column Any study that is marked as Completed or Discontinued can no longer be added to or modified There are several tools available for image handling These tools include Image import/export, marking images, image deletion and processing. The button to import images is represented with three rectangles and an arrow pointing to a computer The Export button is represented with a computer and an arrow pointing to three stacked computers When Importing/Exporting images a pop-up box will display with multiple options Images can be imported via CD/DVD/USB/Query Retrieve (option) Image can be exported via CD/DVD/USB/DICOM Node Be sure to check the status of the import/export prior to removing the device being utilized The functions to Mark/Unmark are located in the Documentation tab and the Select Subtab The Siemens default setting is for all images to be Auto Marked This is represented by a numbered white dot in the upper left hand corner Images can be manually marked or unmarked via right mouse click or using the buttons Via the “Unmark All” button, the user can unselect all images at once Via the “Mark All button”, the user can mark all images for transfer Via the “Mark” button, the user can either mark or unmark an image   To manually delete a Patient Study, highlight the desired patient from one of the three main tabs (Preregistered/Examined/Archiving) and select the “Delete Patient Study” button. The first Pop-up box will ask if you are sure you want to delete the study, simply select “OK”. A second Pop-up box will display if reject analysis is enabled via the user settings.  Select the reason for deleting and the User initials, and then select “OK” Select the link below to view a demonstration of this function   Demo - Delete Study Demo - Delete Study   Individual images can be deleted from a study via the Documentation tab. To delete an image(s), open the study and select the “Delete Images” button. Select the image(s) by left mouse clicking in the image (a white X will now display over the image), select “OK” If Reject Analysis is enabled via the User Settings an additional box will display asking for the Reject Reason and the User initials, select “OK” when finished Note any images not sent to PACs prior to deletion will move to the Recycle Bin Images in the Recycle Bin can be retrieved if needed There are several tools that can be utilized on the FLC for reviewing and Archiving images. The tools are as follows Monitor split Save image(s) Reviewing images/series Start loop Display images Film Send Exam Protocol Monitor split allows the user to change the display size and number of image thumb nails displayed. To adjust the monitor split view, select the button and choose the desired option.   After making changes to an image the User is able to save the images by using the “Save Image” button. Once the image is saved it will display in the “Documentation” tab with an “SM” on the bottom left corner of the thumb nail Four buttons to show previous or next series/image (of a study) and previous or next image of a series. Displayed with an icon of a head along with a plus or minus sign. Plus sign indicates moving to the “next” image of a study or image of a series Minus sign indicates moving to the previous image of a study or image of a series. The two buttons that appear stacked are for moving through the series/image of a study. The two buttons that are one single image of a head are for moving to an image of a series. Once a fluoro loop or a multi frame per second acquisition is performed the start loop button can be utilized to replay the loop on the monitor The loop can be paused and restarted at any time Play back speed is determined on the acquired speed The “Display Series Overview” button allows the User to toggle the selected image from the overview of the images in the Documentation tab to only the selected image in the Postprocessing tab. This is the same function as simply double clicking the thumbnail in the Documentation tab. This button will also open a saved series of images, showing each image of that series. The Film subtab is where images can be sent to print. Within this tab the user can view the images that have been sent to the Film sheet, check the status of filming, and send the images to be printed. The default printer settings are set up via the User settings. The Send subtab is located in the documentation tab. All settings are typically predefined via the User settings. Typically the Target 1 is already set up for the PACs destination. A Structured Report or SC image (Secondary Capture image of the dose report) can also be sent to PACs. These reports can also be set up via the User Settings to auto mark for sending. The Override configured settings allows the user to change the default set. When the override box is checked all options will become available. The button that has the computer (FLC) pointing to three computers is the “Send” button. The button with the question mark and three computers is the send status. Select the link below to view a demonstration of this function. Demo - Send Study Demo - Send Study   The exam protocol is the dose report from the study. This report can be sent to PACs as a DICOM Structured Report or as an SC Image (screen capture of the dose report). The report can be viewed on the FLC by selecting the exam protocol button located in the tools sub tab of the Documentation tab. The settings for the exam protocol are set via the User Settings. The exam protocol displays each event of radiation and all the technical factors that go along with the occurrence. The Accumulated Values for Dose Area Product (DAP) and Entrance Dose are also displayed. This report can be exported or sent to PACs. The Processing Parameters button is located in the “Select” subtab. This button allows the User to apply processing from one image to other images. This is typically used when multiple images are of the same anatomy and location. Select the link below to view a demonstration of this function.     Demo - Processing Parameters Demo - Processing Parameters   The Shutter/Pan button is located in the “Select” subtab. This button allows the User to apply manual image shuttering and panning from one image to other images. This is typically used when multiple images are of the same anatomy and location.
