How to Use the 3D Object Editor step by step

How to Use the 3D Object Editor Computed Tomography The 3D Object Editor is based on 3D region growing functionality. The operator can define independent 3D objects that can be either displayed or removed from the volume. With this feature it is possible to extract the bone from a data set and display only the vessels containing contrast media. 1. Starting the Editor: Open the 3D Object Editor from the top of the 3D screen via Settings > Editor Region  Growing, or (if available) from the dedicated Region Growing icon on the Volume tab in the 3D card. 2. Layout of the Editor: SIEMENS siemens.com/healthineers Healthineers . Job Aid |How to Use the 3D Object Editor Effective Date: 8/16/2016 | Quality 623  An MIP is displayed in the first segment with a magenta cutline that represents the position of the axial slice in the second segment. This line can be moved and the axial image will update automatically. The Image Type can be changed on the Type Tab card to a VRT, MPR, etc.  An MPR is displayed In the second segment. This image type cannot be changed The third segment contains the Object Editor dialogue box   The fourth segment displays the output/resulting image 3. Define a Threshold for the 3D Object:  To define the bone as its own 3D object, select an appropriate threshold using the slider bar, or enter the values manually. Bone density is typically within a 349HU-3071HU range This threshold should exclude the Vessels from being included in the 3D object  4. Start the Growing: Press the Set Seed icon to begin setting seed points in the second  segment. Add Additional Parts to the 3D Object: image 1 image 2  In this example, the spine and ribs have been included in the bone volume (shown green in segment four), but the pelvis has not (image 1).  Move the magenta line in segment one to see what has/has not been included in the threshold. Use the Set Seed icon to add additional seed points and the Add to Object icon to include new structures in the 3D bone volume The missing anatomy (pelvis) should now be included in the 3D object (image 2).  7. Remove the Bone from the Data Set: The sub-volumes that have been created will display in the Object Editor dialogue box.   To remove the bone from the data set, disable the checkbox in front of the volume and enable the checkbox for the Punched Volume.  Click the Update Masking button. All views will be updated and the bone is removed. Cortical bone can be removed using a dilate function  8.
