This training is directed to OR staff to maintain the highest level of safety, proficiency, and ownership of the hybrid environment. A full commitment by staff to follow the Siemens hybrid OR training program is necessary. This training increases the staff’s knowledge of equipment, systems, and skills to work safely and efficiently in the hy- brid OR environment. This training is essential to the daily operation of the hybrid OR and will aid in reducing equipment prob- lems that lead to hybrid OR down time and repair costs. Learning Objectives After completing this training session, you will be able to: • Understand the potential for damage to equipment. • Understand the correct operation of imaging equipment mechanical movements. • Understand collision avoidance. • Protect the stand/C-arm source and foot pedal from fluid contamination. • Correctly clean and disinfect imaging equipment. • Be aware of general imaging equipment precaution guidelines. 3 Hybrid OR Imaging Equipment General Caution for Unit Movements: Risk of colli- Notes Notes sion It is the responsibility of the operator to ensure that unit move- ments are released only if he or she is certain that neither the op- erator, the patient, third parties, or other pieces of equipment can be endangered by these movements. • Make sure you are standing outside the dangerous area. • Remove any objects or accessories, e.g., injector or infusion stand, bovie stand, kick buckets, surgical stands and tables from collision area. • Properly place anesthesia cables, IV tubing, respiratory circuit tubing, and accessories to respect clearances for /C-arm and table movements. Emergency Stop Buttons Where are the emergency STOP buttons? You will find emergency STOP buttons in the following locations: on the front side of any table control module STOP STOP STOP Control modules Operation of Imaging Equipment Movement Con- trols Table Operation Rule: Ensure that there is nothing underneath the table that will cause damage to the table or equipment when tilt- ing or lowering table. 4 Hybrid OR Imaging Equipment Operation of Imaging Equipment Movement Con- Notes Notes trols (continued) Table Control Module (TCM) and Manual Control for Table— table movements = Keys on the table control module • Perform table lift. • Perform table tilt. • Select lateral table tilt. * LED lights while function active. • Unlock brakes for table rotation. * LED lights while function active. • Set isocenter. * LED lights while function active. +9 • Lock lateral tabletop movement. * LED lights while function active • Select orientation. 5 Hybrid OR Imaging Equipment Operation of Imaging Equipment Movement Con- Notes Notes trols (continued) Manual control for table with lateral tilt You can adjust the height and tilt of the table and return the table to the zero po- sition by manual control. Movement of OR equipment around imaging equipment. * When moving portable OR equipment, avoid collisions with stand/c-arm, monitor boom and table to reduce impact damage, i.e. perfusion pumps, cell savers, bovie stands, and IV poles. 2. Placement of OR equipment in proximity to C-arm, monitor boom, and table. * Keep movable OR equipment a respectable distance from stand/C-arm, monitor boom, and table. 10 Hybrid OR Imaging Equipment Collision Avoidance (continued) Notes * Proper placement of anesthesia cables, IV tubing and accessories to respect clearances for stand/C-arm movements and spins. 3. C-arm movements vs. moveable ceiling-mounted sys- tems. • Operators and hybrid OR staff should be alert to stand/C-arm movements and collisions with ceiling-mount- ed systems, i.e., OR light, monitors, and accessory booms. 11 Hybrid OR Imaging Equipment Protecting Stand/C-arm Source and Foot Pedal from Notes Fluid Contamination Use covers Cleaning and Disinfection Caution: Risk of electrical hazard or damage to the system! Use of harsh cleaning agents, liquids, or sprays. • Use only substances for cleaning and disinfection, which are recommended. • Do not let cleaning liquids seep into the openings of the sys- tem. (e.g., air openings, gaps between covers). • Only use water or a lukewarm diluted household cleaning agent solution. • To clean monitors with anti-glare monitor screens (recogniz- able by the non-reflective surface) or LC displays, use only a cloth moistened with pure water without any cleaning agents. • Note: Sprays can penetrate the interior of equipment. This can cause damage to electronic components and the formation of flammable mixtures of air/solution vapor. 12 Hybrid OR Imaging Equipment Radiation Safety Notes This imaging equipment produces ionizing radiation. All Hybrid OR team members are required to wear appropriate radiation protective equipment, utilize lead shielding and wear dose monitoring devices as directed by their facilities radia- tion safety officer. Appropriate radiation protection equipment, when combined with: • Reduced exposure time. • Increased distance from the radiation source. This will help to reduce radiation dose to the Hybrid OR team members. Simple Imaging Equipment Precaution guidelines 1. Never try to move or push C-arm or table by hand. 2. Be alert for collision potentials. 3. When in doubt, ask someone who knows. 4. Commit dedicated staff to room to monitor equipment and staff. 13 Notes 14 Notes 15 On account of certain regional limitations of sales rights and service availability, we cannot guarantee that all products included in this brochure are available through the Siemens sales organization worldwide.
