Congratulations.  You have completed the IMMULITE 2000 Troubleshooting online training course.  Listed below are the key points that have been presented.  Take time to review the material before you proceed to the final quiz. In this online training course, you learned how to: Locate and Review the Event Log and Day Error Log: The Event Log records and displays error messages for the past 90 days. The Event Log is accessed from the IMMULITE 2000 system startup screen. The Day Error Log contains all errors and system messages for a 24 hour period.  The Day Error Log is accessed on the Menu screen in the IMMULITE 2000 system software. Identify and Resolve Common Errors: Diagnostic Jams:  When a jam occurs while running a Diagnostic, using the slave motor chart will help locate where the jam is occurring on the instrument. Also, running Home All Motors can sometimes help to clear the jam. MCP Routine Error An MCP Routine Error occurs when a mechanical jam occurs during software initialization.  To resolve this error, check the Event Log to determine the component that jammed and then if possible resolve the jam.  Once the jam is cleared, the software can be initialized. Carousel Jams If reagent wedges, bead packs or sample racks are not positioned correctly, carousel jams may occur.  To resolve the error, investigate the carousel that is jammed and reseat any mis-positioned reagents wedges, bead packs, or sample racks. Clear Tube Indexer Jam Ensure the instrument is in Pause mode.  Open the front panel doors and verify that the proper reaction tubes are in the tube hopper.   Pull out the pin that connects the orientation brush to the orientation chute.  Lift the orientation brush and place it behind the orientation chute.  Be sure not to pull the orientation brush towards the front of the instrument to prevent the disconnecting of wires.  Take out and discard all reaction tubes in the orientation chute including any tubes that are in the tube indexer itself.  Place the orientation brush back in the orientation chute.  Put the pin back in place to secure the orientation brush.  Push the tube hopper back into place and place the instrument back into Run. Bulk Exit Chute Error: Ensure the instrument is in Stop mode and open the instrument top cover and the front panel doors.  Remove the Solid Waste Container and check to see if it's full.  Place a shallow container or an absorbent cloth over the Solid Waste Load Scale, toward the back wall.  Insert the Waste Chute Clean Out Tool into the Waste Chute opening from the bottom.  The Waste Chute Clean Out Tool should never be inserted into the top opening of the Waste Chute. Remove the tool.  The jammed Reaction Tubes and beads will fall onto the shallow container or absorbent pad.  Locate the Waste Chute Cover on top of the instrument behind the Wash Spin Station.  Using a flashlight, look into the opening for the presence of Reaction tubes. If tubes are present, manually remove them.  To ensure the blockage was removed, drop an empty Reaction Tube marked with an "X" down the Solid Waste Chute.  The marked Reaction Tube should travel freely down the chute to the tray or cloth in the Solid Waste Container area.  If the marked Reaction Tube does not drop through, repeat the above steps to dislodge the jam. Reagent / Bead Screen Errors The Bead and Reagent Status screens are used to check the status of the reagent wedges, allergen wedges, and bead packs on board the system. To resolve a No Matching Bead or Reagent message on the Reagent / Bead screen: Determine the lot number of the bead pack or reagent wedge that is missing, by accessing the Detail screen for the component that is loaded onboard.  To display the Reagent or Bead Detail screens while the instrument is in Run mode, select the square for the reagent wedge or bead pack in the Reagent or Bead Status screen. Once the missing bead pack or reagent wedge with the correct lot number is located, load that component. Put the system back into Run mode. To resolve a Not in Database message on the Reagent / Bead screen: Scan the kit lot barcode into the database. Select the Pause button to put the system into Pause mode. Select the Run button to put the system back into Run mode. Tip Jam Reagent Pipettor To resolve this error: Identify the reagent position with the error. Remove the reagent wedge from the system. Check the glide. Reload the reagent wedge. Select Run. Reagent Probe False Level Sense Error To resolve this error: Identify the reagent position with the error. Remove the reagent wedge from the system. Check the top of the wedge. Check for bubbles in the liquid. Reload the reagent wedge. Select Run. Sample Pipettor Level Sense Error To resolve this error: Identify the sample position with the error. Remove the sample from the system.  Add more sample or transfer to another tube. Reload the sample on the system. Bad Barcode Samples with damaged or missing barcodes can be seen on the Sample Tubes in Racks screen and Display/Edit screen. To resolve this error: Remove the tube from the system, fix the barcode, and reload the tube. Order tests on the unbarcoded tube by assigning the tube position.  Instructions for ordering tests on unbarcoded tubes can be found in the Sample Processing online training course. Damaged Probe To replace a damaged probe: Remove the probe tube retaining clip from the reagent/sample arm column. Unscrew the probe from the arm mount, and remove the probe from the arm. Unscrew the black probe extension from the manifold block, turning both the entire probe and extension piece together. Unscrew the probe extension from the probe. The extension piece will be reused to mount the new probe. Attach the probe extension to the fitting of the new probe. Attach the probe extension to the manifold block by turning both the entire probe and the extension piece together. Insert the probe into the arm mount and tighten securely. Verify the tubing is on the left side of the sample/reagent arm and secure the tubing into the probe tube retaining clip on the reagent/sample arm column. Clot Errors To resolve a gel or hanging clot:   Open the main cover Visually inspect the probe – If necessary, replace or clean the probe Close the main cover Prime the DRDs Locate and remove the sample Select RUN to resume system operation To resolve air in the system:   Open the main cover Visually inspect the probe Close the main cover Select STOP Prime the DRDs Run the Clot Prime diagnostic Initialize the software and select RUN Select Next to continue. If the part is not accessible to the operator (for example, the PMT shuttle or luminometer chain), then contact technical support. Select each checkbox to learn more about resolving diagnostic jams. Run Home All MotorsHTML Run the Home All Motors diagnostic if the problem was resolved using the Slave Motor Chart: Select Load Program at the top of the screen to exit the current diagnostic and return to the list of diagnostic programs. Select Home All Motors from the list. Press Run in menu bar to start. Verify if Home All Motors completes successfullyHTML If Program Complete displays at the top of the screen, then Home All Motors successfully completed.  Rerun the diagnostic that had jammed by selecting Load Program and selecting the diagnostic from the list.  If the system jams while Home All Motors is running, contact technical support. When complete, select the X in the upper-right corner to close the window and continue. If a mechanical jam occurs during software initialization, the software will close back to the Windows desktop. The Event Log will post the following errors: An error that the main control program (MCP) has shutdown. If reagent wedges, bead packs or sample racks are not positioned correctly, carousel jams may occur. Carousel Jams Learn how to resolve carousel jams. Tab TitleTextReagent Carousel Jams The following error message will require checking the reagent carousel for a jam:  "Reagent Carousel has jammed during bar code read going into Pause." To resolve a reagent carousel jam, open the main reagent carousel door to ensure that the reagent wedges and carousel tray are loaded correctly in the carousel: Align the lines on the carousel tray and post and click tray into place Tilt the barcode side of the wedge down as the wedge is placed in a carousel slot Press down on the narrow side of the wedge to lock it in place Ensure the glide moves freely Close the main reagent carousel door and select the Run button to put the system back into Run mode Bead Carousel Jams  The following error message will require checking the bead carousel for a jam: "Bead Carousel has jammed during bar code read going into pause." To resolve a bead carousel jam, open the bead carousel door to ensure that the bead packs are loaded correctly in the carousel: Place the bead pack in a carousel slot with the barcode facing out Tilt down the side of the bead pack opposite to the barcode label Snap down the barcoded side of the bead pack to lock it in place Close the bead carousel door and select the Run button to put the system back into Run mode   Sample Carousel Jams The following error message will require checking the sample carousel for a jam: "Sample Carousel has jammed." To resolve a sample carousel jam, raise the main cover: Check that all sample tubes and diluent tubes are seated correctly in the sample racks Check the movement of the pipettor is not obstructed Check for unauthorized tube sizes in the sample racks Check that the sample probe is not bent Ensure that the sample racks are loaded correctly in the carousel Close the main cover and select the Run button to put the system back into Run mode   When complete, select the X in the upper-right corner to close the window and continue. Errors involving reagent wedges and beads will be reflected in the Bead and Reagent Status screens. The status of each position is indicated by the color of its square: White = No errors Gray = Empty position Light brown = Warning (few tests remaining, overdue adjustment) Red = Error Condition (no tests remaining, never adjusted, no matching bead pack or reagent wedge, not in database)   Reagent/Bead Screen Errors Learn about the No Matching Bead/Reagent and Not in Database error conditions. Tab TitleTextNo Matching Bead or Reagent In order to run a test on the system, both a bead pack and a reagent wedge from the same kit lot must be loaded.  If either kit component for a particular lot number is missing, there will be an error message on the Reagent or Bead Status screen.  For example, if a bead pack is loaded, but the corresponding reagent wedge is missing, then the Bead Status screen will display the message "No Matching Reagent" on the position for that bead pack. To resolve this error: Determine the lot number of the bead pack or reagent wedge that is missing, by accessing the Detail screen for the component that is loaded onboard.  To display the Reagent or Bead Detail screens while the system is in Run mode, select the square for the reagent wedge or bead pack in the Reagent or Bead Status screen. Locate and load the missing bead pack or reagent wedge with the correct lot number on the system Select the Run button to put the system  into Run mode. Not In Database The kit lot barcode should be scanned into the database before loading beads and reagents onto the system. If beads and reagents are loaded for a new lot and the system is put into Run mode before the kit lot barcode is scanned, the message "Not in Database" will appear in the box for those components in the Bead and Reagent Status screens. To resolve this error: Scan the kit lot barcode into the database. Select the Pause button to put the system into Pause mode. Select the Run button to put the system back into Run mode. When complete, select the X in the upper-right corner to close the window and continue.  If the reagent pipettor cannot access the reagent wedge, two error messages will appear: "Tip Jam Reagent Pipettor" indicates that the reagent pipettor could not access a reagent wedge properly. "Marking Reagent Pack as Bad" indicates which reagent wedge has the error. Tip Jam Reagent Pipettor Learn how to resolve the tip jam reagent pipettor error. When complete, select the X in the upper-right corner to close the window and continue.    If the reagent pipettor level senses on a film at the top of a reagent wedge or on a bubble, two error messages will appear: "Reagent False Level Sensed." indicates that the reagent pipettor level sensed at an unexpected height. "Marking Reagent Pack as Bad" indicates which reagent wedge has the error. Reagent Probe False Level Sense Error Learn how to resolve the reagent false level sense error. If more sample is not available, the sample can be transferred to a tube top cup or a microsample tube if enough sample is available.  The dead volume of microsample tubes is 50uL, while tube top cups have a dead volume of 100uL.  For more information on processing these samples, see the Sample Processing course.   Reload the sample on the systemHTML When the sample is reloaded on the system, select the Run button to put the system back into Run mode.  The system will automatically try to run the test again. The sample or reagent probe will need to be replaced if it is damaged. The probe angle diagnostics can be used to determine if a probe is damaged: Sample probe angle - daily maintenance Reagent probe angle - monthly maintenance Additionally, if a problem with one of the probes is suspected, either diagnostic can be run at anytime.  Refer to the Routine Maintenance course for information on running these diagnostics. Welcome to the CentraLink Data Management System version fifteen quality control online training course.  This course will explore the new features available in the CentraLink system including the ability to configure QC blocking and QC duration, displaying patient samples between QC points and configure patient moving average at the method level. The sample carousel positions for samples with damaged or missing barcodes can be seen on the following screens: Sample Tubes in Racks screen - a white color indicates unbarcoded tubes Display / Edit screen - if an order exists for an unbarcoded tube, the status will be "No Sample" To resolve this error, either: Remove the tube from the system, fix the barcode, and reload the tube. Order tests on the unbarcoded tube by assigning the tube position.  Instructions for ordering tests on unbarcoded tubes can be found in the Sample Processing online training course. Select Next to continue.   The configurable quality control duration allows the CentraLink system user to define the number of days for which current QC results are kept in the current statistics.  The QC close out function and the QC purge can be automated since the Current Days to Keep setting allows a consistent number of days for QC results to remain in current statistics. Select next to continue. Sample clots occur when the clot remains in the sample. The system successfully draws a slug of air after the clot is detected, indicating the pipettor is not obstructed. The system will remain in Run mode and continue processing other samples. The operator needs to remove the clotted sample, fix the problem, and reload the sample to run those tests. A clinging clot occurs when the clot is stuck to the sample pipettor. The system is unsuccessful when it draws a slug of air, indicating the pipettor is obstructed. In addition to the error messages above, another error is posted:  "Clot detected in sample tube.  Clean exterior of sample probe before resuming operation." The system enters a pause state in which no new samples will be pipetted until the clot is removed. There are three possible causes for this type of error message: Gel clot:  The pipettor entered the gel in a gel separator tube. Hanging clot:  A clot is hanging on the end of the pipettor. Air in the system:  Air is present in the clot detection module. Gel Clot Learn how to resolve a clinging clot error that is caused by a gel clot. Allow the diagnostic to run for several minutes to ensure that all of the air is eliminated.   Initialize the software and select RUNHTML Initialize the IMMULITE 2000 system software and select the RUN button to resume system operation.
