MI PET Biograph Advanced-Oncology Focus Classroom Course

The MI PET Biograph Advanced – Oncology Focus class is designed for the PET, NM or CT technologist who has been using the Biograph system for at least 6 months and would like to expand their knowledge of oncology imaging. Through the use of demonstrations, lecture, and hands-on console applications, technologists will be introduced to advanced oncology concepts. Topics will include an introduction to PET/CT and radiation oncology, list mode imaging fundamentals, fundamentals and concepts of respiratory gating, oncology and respiratory gating protocols, syngo.via MM Oncology application, CT contrast fundamentals and CT image quality and trouble shooting.

The classroom setting provides an optimal environment for learning without distractions and many opportunities for questions and answers. The course will enhance what the user will learn from the Clinical Education Specialist’s onsite visit.

Upon completion of this class, the attendee will be able to:

Describe the purpose and benefits of PET/CT imaging in the area of Radiation Oncology.

State the purpose of CT contrast and the methods that can be used in your CT workflow.

Describe the purpose of list mode imaging and how it is used in PET.

Describe the concept of respiratory gating and how it is beneficial in oncology imaging.

Demonstrate how to access the various PET/CT oncology and respiratory gated protocols and describe the differences in the various gating parameters.

Demonstrate how to use the syngo.via MM Oncology Application

Describe the advanced concepts of CT imaging.

Describe the purpose of CT contrast and how it can be used enhance CT clinical workflow.

Demonstrate how to identify various CT artifacts and image quality issues and describe how to fix or avoid them.

Demonstrate the use of the Biograph hardware and software for oncology and respiratory gated imaging.
