This video provides an overview of the ACUSON P500 system control panel functions.

In this section we will give you an overview of the acuson P 500 system control panel. The control panel provides access to system features, an workflow tasks. A touch pad provides access to the onscreen functions. The keys and controls are logically arranged to require a minimum of hand and eye movements. The control panel also includes customizable keys. We will begin the control panel overview by starting on the upper left side with the power on off control. The system is powered on and off by pressing the on off button. The control panel becomes backlit when powered on. The backlighting increases when a control becomes active. The system powers up in less than 30 seconds. The softkey controls are located across the top of the control panel. These keys correspond to imaging parameters settings. A selection of measurement methods, and also allow you to perform review functions. The monitor displays the functions assigned to each key. The alphanumeric keyboard can be used to enter text needed for patient registration or anatomic identification on images. The keyboard also includes special function keys such as clear screen text or body markers. The depth gain compensation or DC is located on the upper right of the control panel. This control allows for compensation of the signal due to absorption of sound waves. The deeper the sound travels, the more absorption occurs, resulting in an image that appears darker in the far field. To compensate for this, you can adjust the dog to create an image with an even brightness. The behavior of the dog slide pots can be customized on the display tab of the configuration menu. You can select whether or not the dog curve changes when flipping the image and when the dog curve displays or if the curve displays on the image death being used or the maximum image depth. Located on the right side of the system is the death Zoom push Rotary button. To change the image in depth, rotate the control. Pressing the button activates or deactivates the zoom function. When Zoom is active, there are four green brackets at the corners of the image. Rotating the control changes the image magnification. The direction of how the depth and zoom DOB functions can be changed on the custom keys page of the configuration menus. The clockwise or counterclockwise rotation can be assigned to either increase or decrease the depth of magnification factor depending on your preference. Located to the right of the measure button, the Clips store button saves Essanay clip when pressed. This key can be configured for the length of capture, the type of capture an, the compression used in the Clip Store page of the configuration menu. Compression can be set at low, medium and high. The capture types available are perspective where the acuson P 500 system captures the clip as it occurs. The retrospective option captures a clip that has already been imaged. Clip length allow selection of either time beat or are wave only to determine how the system captures the clip. This button can also be programmed to capture an image on the Custom Keys page of the configuration menu. The print store one and print Store 2 buttons can be programmed on the Custom Keys page of the configuration menus. Simply select the desired function from the pull down menu using one of the select keys. Click save. The freeze button color changes depending on its state. Bright blue indicates a frozen image, while a dim button indicates alive image. The TEQ button or tissue equalization technology automatically adjusts the image during real time image Ng. The mode button labeled 2D is the dual function button. Rotating the outer portion increases or decreases the overall brightness or overall gain of the image. Pushing the button in the center return due to 2D image Ng from other modes such as color Doppler or M Mode. Pressing the center of the C button activates the color Doppler velocity mode to increase or decrease the overall color gain, rotate the outer portion of the button. To move the region of interest or ROI, simply move your finger over the touch pad. To change the size, click the button next to the touch pad, changing the function from position to size, then use a pinch like motion on the touch pad. Take note the center icon on the monitor indicates a change in the button function when pressed. The functions available during color are located at the bottom of the monitor and adjusted using the soft keys located on the control panel. The color ROI is an overlay on the 2D image of the Doppler information. This allows you to adjust parameters for each portion of the image. Here you see the active color parameters with the real time image to change whether you are adjusting the 2D image or the color ROI. Press the central button on the round soft key. Now the 2D parameters are active. Another method to determine the active mode is through the color change of the icon located in the upper left of the monitor. The active mode displays as a lighter blue. This function is also available on the frozen image. Activating the color Doppler Energy mode is done by pressing the soft key that corresponds to the CD CD key. To exit color, simply press the center of the C or 2D button. The M mode button behavior can be programmed to bypass the cursor mode to activate M mode when pressing the central button. Check the bypass cursor mode box on the display page of the configuration menu. For this demonstration, we will leave the bypass cursor mode unchecked. Pressing the center of the M button activates an mode cursor mode. This allows you to align the M mode cursor before activating M mode. To move the M line, simply use the touchpad. There are two methods to activate the M mode. Tracing an reference image, you can either press the center of the M button or press the update button located at the top of the touch pad. To increase or decrease the overall M mode gain, rotate the outer portion of the button. The functions available for the M mode tracing are located at the bottom of the monitor and adjusted using the soft keys located on the control panel. Notice the functions available for the key surrounding the touch pad. You can adjust parameters on both the Mo tracing and the two D reference image. Here you see the active M mode parameters with a live tracing. To change whether you were adjusting the Mo tracing or the real time 2D reference image, press the update key above the touch pad. Now the 2D parameters are active. Another method to determine the active mode is through the color change of the icon located at the upper left of the monitor. This function is also available on the frozen image. To exit, simply press the center of the M or the 2D button. The post wave or PW button behavior can be programmed to bypass the cursor mode to activate the PW tracing when pressing the central button. Check the bypass cursor mode box on the display page of the configuration menu. This can be useful when imaging in an emergency situation to help shorten the exam. For this demonstration, we will leave the bypass cursor mode unchecked. You can also select the units of measurement used to determine the speed of sampled blood flow. Simply select the frequency or velocity radio button for your preferred method. For this demonstration, we will select velocity and the Doppler frequency velocity line pressing the center of the W button activates the cursor.
