This Job Aid reviews components of the Pediatric 16 Coil and how to position the coil with and without the infant cradle on the MR Table  This coil is used for neonates and infants to produce diagnostic images of the head and neck. 

Pediatric 16 Coil Numaris X Job Aid Pediatric 16 Coil – Numaris X The Pediatric 16 Coil is used for neonates and infants to produce diagnostic images of the head and neck. The inner diameter of the Pediatric 16 has been adjusted to the dimensions of a neonate or infant head. 1. Coil Components – 2 Main Parts a. Head Coil b. Infant Cradle – infant cradle is used especially for positioning neonates. i. Remove Upper Part of Head Coil 2. Position 16 Coil on Patient Table 3. Infant Cradle a. Position Appropriate Cushions in Infant Cradle i. Firmly attach Cushions with Velcro straps to Infant Cradle b. Position Neck Elevation Pad in Front of Head End of Infant Cradle (e.g., if neces- sary) c. Position Patient in Infant Cradle d. Important Hint: To carry the infant in the infant cradle, always support infant cra- dle (e.g., with your arms under cradle, do not carry infant cradle holding only the sides of the cradle) e. Apply Appropriate Straps to Secure Patient f. Position Infant Cradle on Patient Table i. Upper Part of Infant Cradle is Positioned in Lower Part of Coil 6. Upper Part of Coil a.
