Tab TitleTextVent Settings CPAP, PEEP, PIP, Tidal Volume (Vt) and Allen Test have been added to Sample Demographics.  These fields can be individually enabled/disabled and selected as required fields. To enable these fields, access Setup > Sample > Sample Demographics In this example, all 5 settings have been made "available" and Allen Test has been made "required". Vent settings are manually entered.  The entered data prints on the patient report and is sent to the Laboratory Information System (LIS).   Patient List Feature When the Patient List displays, the patient at the top of the list is no longer pre-selected.  The Continue button is disabled until you select a patient from the list. This new feature prevents you from unintentionally changing the patient ID when you enter the Patient List screen.  The default state of the Patient List feature is Off for new software installations. New Features on Ready Screen Additional features are available on the Ready screen.  Various features are available depending on your region.  One feature in particular, which may not be available in all countries, is the addition of pleural fluid pH testing on the RAPIDPoint 500 system. Measuring pleural fluid pH is a clinically useful tool for diagnosing and managing patients with pleural effusions. Selection of the pleural fluid sample from the Analysis screen is very easy, and when enabled the pH icon is highlighted on the screen. The user has the ability to set up separate correlation coefficients for pleural fluid testing, and no additional testing steps are required. Multi-byte Character Support The software supports multi-byte characters for languages including English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Finnish, Spanish, Swedish, Chinese, and Korean. Tab TitleTextDual Port Communication Serial and Ethernet configurations are selected under LIS Communications in the Setup screen.  This allows simultaneous connection to RAPIDComm and the LIS. Separate LIS Send and Print Functionality In the previous version of software, when the Print button was selected, a report was printed and the results were transmitted to the LIS.  These functions are now separated.   In the new software, the print button is used to print a report and the Send button is used to transmit data to the LIS.      Software Version Sent to RAPIDComm The instrument software version is sent to RAPIDComm. This information is displayed in the Device Status Summary screen in RAPIDComm v5.0 and higher. When complete, select the X in the upper-right corner to close the window and continue. The new 100 test Sample Measurement Cartridge helps reduce waste in smaller labs.  Use of the new cartridge requires two Wash/Waste cartridges that need to be utilized within 28 days.
