Smart_C DICOM Connectivity Setup

This job aid will guide the user through the correct steps for setting up the
DICOM connectivity between the hospital and the Smart-C

Smart-C DICOM Connectivity Set Up SMART-C The following guide can be used to to install, configure, and test DICOM network connections on the Smart-C in a typical healthcare environment. The Smart-C supports the following DICOM features: DICOM Store: Transmits DICOM patient and image data to PACS servers for long term storage and archival. DICOM Modality Worklist: Allows users to import patient data from the network prior to an exam to reduce text entry errors and improve workflow. The system may be configured to allow DICOM data to be sent through a wireless network when in range, and/or through a wired network connection when the tablet is placed in the tabletop docking station. 1) Prerequisites: Confirm the customer DICOM network supports the following: a. Wired network requirements i. Ethernet Network supporting at least 10Mbit/s or 100Mbit/s wired connectivity ii. Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) iii. Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) (1 IP address) b. Wireless network requirements i. Wireless communication protocols: 802.11ac, b, g, n ii. Wireless Authentication: WPA2-PSK iii. Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) iv. Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) (1 IP address) 2) Complete the required values below for DICOM installation. Obtain the following information from the IT department or systems administrator and complete the form below. Note: some data is optional and not required as indicated. Connecting to a wired network i. Turn off the C-arm. ii. Login to the Tablet as User = Admin and password = admin or User = Service and password = service. iii. Go to the Settings/Network screen. (Figure 1) iv. Connect the power adapter to the back of the docking station. v. Connect the ethernet cable from the DICOM network to the docking station. vi. Place the tablet on the docking station and confirm that a wired IP was assigned to the tablet form the DICOM network DHCP server. vii. Confirm the Ethernet box is green and shows the IP address assigned, MAC address, the wired connection status bar. b. Connecting to a wireless network i. Turn off the C-arm. ii. Login to the Tablet as the Admin or Service User. iii. Go to the Settings/Network screen (see figure 1) iv. Press on the white Network box that says “PACS SSID” this will open a list box showing the wireless networks detected. Select the wireless DICOM network and press the check mark. v. To connect to Hidden network select Hidden from the list box. Enter SSID. vi. Enter the wireless network password in the same box. vii. Remove the Tablet from the docking station if connected. viii. Confirm the wireless box shows the wireless IP address assigned, MAC address, and showing connected with a green background on the wireless connection status bar. When connected to the wireless DICOM or C-arm network the signal strength is shown on the box. See Figure 2. ix. Confirm that the Network Log for the wireless network shows “Connection Complete”. Note: To delete the wireless settings for a network including password push the back arrow when the network is selected. The check when pushed will force the reconnection to the wireless network and update the password after deletion.
