syngo.via - CT Colon Step by Step

syngo.via® CT Colon The syngo.via CT Colon workflow is designed to aid in the non-invasive diagnostic evaluation of the entire large bowel. Using low-dose, high-resolution CT images, CT Colon is useful for both preventative colon ex- ams and diagnostic follow up exams, and is also helpful when conventional optical colonoscopy is incom- plete, has failed, or is contraindicated. 1. From the Patient Worklist, load an appropriate data set into the CT Colon workflow: • If the examination has been correctly mapped, double click to load. • If manual mapping is required, right-click the examination and select Open With > CT Colon. 2. Various layouts are available for both single- and two-monitor viewing and offer 2D and 3D evalua- tion of axial, coronal, and sagittal MPRs, a trans- lucent/air filled global view, an endoluminal “fly” view, and a virtual dissection view. Additionally, layouts are available for supine images, prone im- ages, or simultaneous comparison of both. Navigation throughout the images is synchro- nized. 3. A 3D evaluation can be performed in the endoluminal segment. By default, the virtual endoscope is automatically positioned in the rectum and ready to navigate. “Fly” through the endoluminal view by holding down the right mouse button and pushing the mouse forward in the center of the segment. Drag using the left mouse button to rotate. 4. A 2D evaluation can be performed in the MPR segments. Drag using the right mouse button to navigate, or use the scroll wheel. The virtual endoscope can be quickly repositioned by clicking in another segment of the colon in an MPR view or on the global view, or use the Set Endoscope icon to both reposition and direct the view. 5. A variety of tools on the CT Colon Reading workflow step allow CT Colon Reading for a customized reading environment: Fit Auto • Standard View switches to the standard endo view. Marker Manual Auto Zoom • Round and Cube View are panoramic views that enable visu- alization behind the colon folds. Standard Round Cube Stool Polyp View View View Tagging Lens • Solid switches the transparent global view to solid. Show Show • Double Contrast switches the global view to double contrast. The Virtual Dissection view is automatically synched with the endolu- minal view and represents an “unrolled” view of the colon. This al- lows for more thorough evaluation of the colon surface. Navigate along the colon in this view using the left mouse button and dragging horizontally. The black vertical line in the center of the virtual dissection view cor- responds to the current view in the endoluminal segment. 7. The Stool Tagging feature will help differentiate a potential polyp from residual stool. This re- quires administration of an oral contrast medium during the examination preparation. Additionally, tagged stool can be removed using the hide/show options in the lower left segment menu. The Polyp Lens feature helps qualify lesions by color-coding the tissue below the surface. Turn on Polyp Lens and navigate the lesion into the center of the segment. Polyp Lens 9. PEV – Polyp Enhanced Viewing – is a second-reader tool that helps to identify suspicious solitary structures that are consistent with polyps. Once a manual evaluation has been completed, click Show PEV and a list of PEV results will be displayed in the Findings Navigator. Findings Navigator L Show Name Value Source PEV C1 ColPr CT ColPr.
