The MM Reading workflow is used to view and compare images and series of any modality, including 2D, 3D and 4D data sets. Opening the Workflow From the Patient Browser, open your selected dataset with the MM Reading workflow: Double-click on the patient name -or- Right-click and from the context menu, select Open with > MM Reading If the MM Reading workflow is not assigned to your selected dataset then use the Open with functionality. Select the markers on the right to learn how to open the MM Reading workflow. Workflow is assigned If a workflow is already assigned to a dataset, you can double-click the patient name. Workflow is not assigned Right-click and from the context menu, select Open with > MM Reading. You can either drag them to another predefined position on the screen or make them a floating window. Click the header of a panel and drag it to the required position on the screen (top, bottom, left, right). As soon as you move the mouse over a specific area on the screen, icons appear showing possible drop positions. Additionally at the bottom of this panel you will find the controls to Save and Send or Save and Pause the workflow findings. When completing the workflow with Save and Send the results are saved to syngo.via and sent automatically to the default archive, the PACS.  When completing the workflow with Save and Pause the results are saved to syngo.via only. vid_sv_vb50_essentials_olt_sy2_favorite_tools_panel.mp3 Video Script Tab 2: You can use tools from the Favorite Tools panel by just clicking the icon. To add tools from the Tool Gallery to your Favorite Tools panel simply click on the plus icon to open the Tool Gallery, select the desired tool icon and drag it with the left mouse button to the Favorite Tools panel. You can also right-click the icon in the Tool Gallery and from the context menu, choose Add to Favorites. To remove a tool, right-click and from the context menu select Remove from Favorites. vid_sv_vb50_essentials_olt_sy2_series_panel.mp3 Video Script Tab 3: To expand the images displayed in the Series panel click on the icon with the two triangles. You can also switch between the Thumbnail and the List view. The loaded series in the current layout will be highlighted blue in the Series panel. Depending on the layout, not all available data for the loaded patient may be displayed in the image area. Data that is displayed in the image area is indicated by a bold type in the Series panel.  To load a series in the currently layout simply drag and drop it from the Series panel. Click the Add Study icon to add further studies to the currently loaded one, for example prior studies. The prior examination is now seen in the Series panel and can also be dragged into the layout for comparison. Right-click and from the context menu, select Add Series as 2D or Add series as MPR. The prior examination is clearly marked as Prior 1 in the image segment. vid_sv_vb50_essentials_olt_sy2_findings_panel.mp3 Video Script Tab 4: To introduce you to the functions of the Findings panel, first locate a lesion on all three orientations - saggital, coronal and axial - using the 3D Reference point tool from the Favorite Tools panel. A measurement of the lesion can be made using the ROI Auto Contour tool. The ROI measurement automatically appears in the Findings panel. When you click the Single Image icon, the automatically generated snapshot of the lesion and measurement opens. Navigate through the images to locate a second lesion and create a ROI auto contour measurement. A second measurement is then automatically created in the Findings panel. When you click on the measurement, the images automatically navigate to the slice in all orientations where the measurement was made. Access Bar Select the markers on the left to learn more about the access bar. Top right corner In the top right corner, you can access Configuration, the Online Help, and other services. Patient tab The patient tab shows the open workflow with patient data. Patient Browser Click this icon to access the Patient Browser any time. Findings Panel In the Findings panel you can create and manage findings such as measurements, graphical objects, annotations and snapshots.   You can review and modify these findings at any time during the evaluation of the patients data. Later these collected findings can be included into the report and upon completion of the workflow sent to the archive for storage.   Depending on the configuration of how the findings should be handled they can be created automatically or manually. Series Panel The Series panel provides an overview of the series and instances that belong to the loaded study. The Series panel provides two views: 1. The List view gives an overview of the data sorted into data groups 2. The Thumbails view gives a preview of the images. Favorite Tools Panel The Favorite Tools panel provides a display of your preferred tools for viewing, creating results on images and as well allowing access to the Tool Gallery. The Tool Gallery includes all available viewing tools in syngo.via.  The tools available in the Favorite Tools panel are configurable.  Viewing Panel The Viewing panel provides a display of the preferred layouts for the type of images loaded as well as access to the Layout Gallery. MM Reading Image Area The image area displays the images and series in dedicated segments from the chosen patient. The displayed images depend on the layout selected in the Viewing panel. Select the numbered steps below to learn more about the image segments and the mouse interactions. 1 1 1 2 2 2 MM Reading Image Area audf_sv_vb50_essentials_olt_sy2_image_area.mp3 Base Layer Audio Script: The Image area displays the images and series in dedicated segments from the chosen patient. The displayed images depend on the layout selected in the Viewing panel. Select the numbered steps below to learn more about the image segment and the mouse interactions. vid_sv_vb50_essentials_olt_sy2_image_area_mouseinteractions.mp3 Video Script Tab 1: To enlarge a segment simply double-click in the segment of choice and return to the layout configuration by double-clicking again. By default, the Zoom/Pan tool is already activated for 2D and 3D images when you use the left mouse button. When the mouse is situated in the middle of a segment, the cross hair indicates that the pan functionality is active. When moving to the corners of the image segment, the mouse cursor changes to a Window on Window icon indicating that the Zoom functionality is active. To navigate through the images in the dedicated segments, you can use the mouse wheel to scroll through each slice, or hold down the right mouse button to quickly scroll through the images. The left mouse button enables you to activate the selected tool – e.g. the Distance Line tool.  Click the tool again to deactivate it or simply press the Escape key on the keyboard. The middle mouse button or scroll wheel is used for windowing the image in the selected segment. Click and hold the mouse scroll wheel and move the mouse right and left to change the width, and up and down to change the center. You will notice in the bottom right corner the blue marked figures indicating the window width and window centre values. vid_sv_vb50_essentials_olt_sy2_image_area_imagesegments.mp3 Video Script Tab 2: Within the image segment in the top left corner, the following information is displayed if configured in the Display and Behaviour tab of the Configuration Panel: Patient Name Patient ID Patient Date of Birth, gender and age If the images loaded are current, prior or later series The Series Name  Accession Number Date and time of scan/image acquisition Image number and position Moving down the left hand side in the middle we find the Orientations: R for right, L for left, A for anterior and P for posterior the Image type, for example, 2D, MPR, MIP etc. Simply click to toggle through different Image Display options. the Contrast enhanced image and the Exposure factors or other acquisition related parameters. Then moving across to the top right hand corner you can see, if available in the DICOM header, the   Institution Name and the software version, dependent on DICOM information coming from Imaging Modality On the right side in the middle you can see the Scaling bar. One unit represents 1 cm. And then in the right side down the bottom you find the:   Orientation cube which indicates anatomical orientation (F = Feet, H = Head) and the Windowing values W (width) and C (Centre) Additionally any text highlighted blue is interactive and can be changed easily by dragging the mouse up and down with the left button held or by double-clicking on the text to enter the desired value. Image Segments 2 Mouse Interactions 1 Where to Find the Corner Menus Corner menus are available in each corner of each segment and allow you to select tools without leaving the segment. They are fixed and provide tools for image preparation, optimization, evaluation, and property settings. Select the colored callouts on the left to learn more about the functionality behind the corner menu. Where to find Corner Menus audf_sv_vb50_essentials_olt_sy2_location_corner_menu.mp3 Audio Script: Corner menus are available in each corner of each segment and allow you to select tools without leaving the segment. They are not configurable and provide tools for image preparation, optimization, evaluation, and property settings. They automatically adapt to the type of acquisition or image filter displayed in the selected segment. For example, the Anatomy visualizer tool, which allows to perform 3D segmentations, is only available on the corner menu of a segment displaying a VRT image. Select the colored callouts on the left to learn more about the functionality behind the corner menu. Accesses the window settings and modality-specific presets. Accesses the measurement and marking tools. Accesses the visualization functions and display types. Accesses the image manipulation tools. Corner and Context Menus Select the tab arrows to learn what’s behind the corner menus and the context menu. Image manipulation tools Visualization functions and display types Measurement and marking tools Window settings and modality-specific presets Context menu More options and properties Corner and Context Menus audf_sv_vb50_essentials_olt_sy2_corner_context_menu.mp3 Audio Script Base Layer: Select the tab arrows to learn what’s behind the corner menus and the context menu. vid_sv_vb50_essentials_olt_sy2_context_menu.mp3 Video Script Tab 5: To activate the context menu simply right-click in any of the image segments.   To send your favorite tools to the context menu, right-click on a tool in the corner menu and choose Send to Context Menu.   Once the context menu is activated you can also scroll with the mouse wheel to locate the tool of choice and choose it by clicking on it.   You can also configure the position of the tool in the context menu by simply dragging it up or down in the list with the left mouse button pressed and remove it at any time by dragging it with the left mouse button out of the context menu.  The six options in the bottom of the context menu are factory tools that cannot be removed or repositioned. More Options and Properties Select the markers on the left to learn how to access more options of a certain tool and how to find extra properties. Settings icon Some tools have extra settings which are indicated by an icon next to the tool. Click the icon and select Properties from the menu. A Properties dialog box opens where you can change certain parameters of the tool. More options Some tools have additional variations or options. This is indicated by a small triangle. Context Menu The context menu is like one of the corner menus; however it can be customized specifically to your needs, allowing you to have your favorite tools all in one place. The beauty of the context menu is that it is conveniently accessible by right clicking in the image segment.  Window Settings and Modality-Specific Presets In the bottom right corner menu you can access the window settings and other modality-specific presets. Measurement and Marking Tools In the top right corner menu you can access the measurement and marking tools. Here you can also activate measurement tools such as the distance line tools, ROI, VOI, and marking tools such as arrow, marker, and angle. Visualization Functions and Display Types In the bottom left corner menu you can access the visualization functions and display types. Here you can change the image display type to MIP, VRT, 2D etc. Image Manipulation Tools By hovering or clicking in the top left corner you can easily access the image manipulation tools. When the tool is highlighted grey it indicates that this tool is currently active. To activate a tool click on the tool. To deactivate click on the tool again or press the Escape key on the keyboard. Keyboard interactions There are many shortcut keys to access tools and functionality. These can be found by accessing the Online Help (press F1) and searching for “Shortcut”. You can also hover over a tool or functionality icon. The tool tip shows the shortcut key. For example, hovering over the Movie tool in the top left corner menu, shows the tooltip and the shortcut key to activate the movie functionality. In this case press the spacebar. Additionally, certain keys have shortcuts, for example the C key activates the ROI Circle tool. Keys Keyboard Interactions audf_sv_vb50_essentials_olt_sy2_keyboard_interactions.mp3 Audio Script: The keyboard allows you to access functions quickly. It can be used to perform a specific action or to change the behavior of the mouse interactions. There are many shortcut keys to access tools and functionality. These can be found by accessing the Online Help and searching for “Shortcut”. You can also hover over a tool or functionality icon. The tool tip shows the shortcut key. Selection of Shortcuts and Function Keys Save Findings In the Viewing panel, click one of the two buttons: Save and Send All results are saved and sent to the configured archive (default PACS). The workflow is saved in its current state and layout and closes. Save and Pause All results are saved in the syngo.via software but not sent to the configured archive. The workflow is saved in its current state and layout and closes. Save Findings audf_sv_vb50_essentials_olt_sy2_save_findings.mp3 Audio Script: When you are finished with evaluation and findings creation of your opened workflow you have two options to save the findings and complete the workflow. Discard Findings Click the X button to close the patient. The Close Patient dialog box opens. Select Discard Changes. No results are saved or sent to the archive. The workflow closes and is remapped to its original status. Discard Findings audf_sv_vb50_essentials_olt_sy2_discard_findings.mp3 Audio Script: When you are finished with evaluation and findings creation of your opened workflow you can also discard your findings to complete the workflow. The shortcut key can also be found by hovering over the tool or functionality icon and seeing the shortcut in the tool tip. ​ Corner Menus and Context Menu You have learned: Where to find and activate tools to enable image preparation, optimization, evaluation and property settings. How to activate the context menu and configure to your own individual needs and preferences. How to access further tool options and configure properties of certain tools, for example, the ROI Properties and similar ROI options like ROI Circle, ROI Freehand and ROI Auto contour. ​ MM Reading Image Area In the image area, images and series from the selected patient are displayed. The images displayed depend on the layout selected in the Viewing panel. You have learned: How to use the mouse to zoom/pan, adjust the image window levels, activate a tool, scroll through images and enlarge a segment. To explain the displayed text within the image segment in line with the DICOM attributes sent from the modality.   Panels Panels with different functions are available: Viewing: Change the way the images are displayed in different layouts. Favorite Tools: Have the most used tools at hand and add other tools you would like to use frequently. Series: Display the series and images available for the loaded patient and add more if needed. Finding: Display your result findings and navigate to find them on the images where you create the finding. Access bar and Patient tab: Access other workflows, the Patient Browser and the Configuration Panel at any time. Opening a Workflow MM Reading is a basic workflow where 2D, 3D and 4D images can be viewed, compared and results created. You have two options to open a particular patient from the Patient Browser into a workflow: If no workflow is assigned, right-click the patient and select Open with in the context menu. -or- If the workflow is already assigned, simply double-click the patient.
