Table Positioning Strategies - Numaris X

The Table Positioning Strategy Job Aid defines ISO, Local Range, and FIX Strategies.  It also provides guidance and applications used on Numaris X software.

Table Positioning Strategy’s – Numaris X Job Aid Table Positioning Strategy’s – Numaris X During patient registration, the system is initialized with one of the three positioning strategies that will remain valid for the entire examination. The default positioning strategy depends on the selected Body Part and the measurement program. In case of a multi-study examination, the initial requested procedure (examination) determines the default strategy. The toolbar of the program control displays the positioning strategy that is currently active.  Table Positioning Strategy’s: ISO, Local Range, FIX  During Examination, selected positioning strategy can be changed using the “Table Positioning Strategy” step if measurement of preceding protocols was completed.  Slice planning is only performed on DIS2D or DIS3D Distortion Corrected images, no unloading of images from GSP.  GSP can only display distortion corrected images (e.g., exception Spectroscopy).  Global Table Positioning Strategy setting is located at the Region, Exam, or Program level in the Dot Cockpit under Edit Properties.  Table Positioning Strategy – always displayed top of Measurement Queue 1. Iso Center (ISO) – (e.g., Default Strategy) a. ISO table position calculated so measurement is performed at Isocenter i. Based on center point of all slice groups ii. Like “Scan Region Center” or “Scan at Center” b. Table moves to “Iso Center” of Slice/Slab Group after sequence is applied c. Set-n-Go Protocols always use ISO (e.g., Default) d. Applications – Larger anatomical regions (e.g., Spine, Abdomen, Pelvis, Long Bone) Brain Dot Engine ISO ℮ + 1 AAhead_scout 2 11_qtse_dark-fluid sag_p2 Table Positioning Strategy Select Table Positioning Strategy Iso Center Local Range Fixed Unrestricted 0 Published by Siemens Healthcare GmbH © Siemens Healthcare GmbH, 2020 SIEMENS Master Template Effective Date: 3/5/2020 | HOOD05162003074494 Job Aid Effective Date: 06/16/2020 | HOOD05162003093649 Healthineers Job Aid | Table Positioning Strategy’s Job Aid Effective Date: 06/16/2020 | HOOD05162003093649 2. Local Range (LOC) a. LOC is based on an examination-specific FoV Area and a Focus Position defining the center of the FoV/Slices in the z-direction. i. Slice groups within FoV/Slices Area are measured without repositioning the Patient Table b. Center of LOC Range – Defined by Light Marker Position (or) Reset Table Position c. Local Range Tolerance Criteria i. Slice/Slab Groups are Positioned “within” Tolerable Local Range – table doesn’t move to perform the measurement. ii. Slice/Slab Groups are NOT Positioned “within” Tolerable Local Range (slices too far from isocenter) – measurement is executed at ISO-center position and table moves. d. GSP Segments – small triangle indicates current Focus Position i. Define the Local Range Center Position by dragging the Yellow Triangle in the planning segment(s) to the body part. (OR) ii. Select one of the “Previously Used Positions” or “Enter a Position” in the Local Range Position Field. e. Applications i. Fixed (FIX) a. Fixed performs all measurements at a set table position (e.g., Table doesn’t move) i. Table remains in a fixed position even if the slice/slab group is placed out- side isocenter. b. GSP Segments – small triangle indicates the Fixed Table Position i. Note: The Fixed Table Positioning Strategy allows imaging outside of the homogeneity sphere, beyond the isocenter of the scanner. ii. This strategy may result in poor image quality if prescribed too far from isocenter. c. Applications i. Interventional Workflow (e.g., Biopsy, Ablation Exams).
