The Value of PET/CT Imaging for Head and Neck Cancers

Head and neck cancers are particularly challenging to diagnose and quantify. PET/CT is a key tool in helping to find and fight these types of carcinomas. In this webinar, the speaker discusses various types of head and neck malignancies and the FDG avidity of the various subtypes of these cancers, the broader challenges of PET/CT in the oncology world and the challenges unique to head and neck PET/CT imaging. The speaker will then discuss the various types of H&N PET/CT acquisition protocols and the benefits of using CT contrast in these images. Lastly, the session will conclude with a review of case studies and a discussion of reimbursement of these scans.

By the end of this session, the attendee will be able to: List the various types of head and neck malignancies and describe the FDG avidity of their various subtypes. Describe the challenges of PET/CT head and neck imaging. Describe the various head and neck protocols and the benefits of using CT contrast in imaging these types of cancers.
