VersaCell® X3 Solution with ADVIA Centaur® XP System Connectivity Online Training

This will familiarize the operator with aspects of operation that are unique when the VersaCell® X3 system is connected to an ADVIA Centaur® XP System.

Welcome to the VersaCell® X3 Solution with ADVIA Centaur® XP System Connectivity Online Training course. The goal of this course is to familiarize the operator with aspects of operation that are unique when the VersaCell X3 system is connected to an ADVIA Centaur XP system. Select Next to continue.   Describe QC and patient sample processing Identify the steps of the tube journey List the causes of common errors List the steps to perform startup Upon successful completion of this course you will be able to: Select Next to continue. From the QC Files window, you can view radar charts, Levey-Jennings charts and print QC reports.  Occasionally, you will need to backup and restore QC files from this window.  Select the links below to learn more about reviewing, printing, backing up and restoring QC.   Congratulations.  You have completed the VersaCell X3 Solution with ADVIA Centaur XP System Connectivity Online Training course.  Listed below are the key points that have been presented.  Take time to review the material before you proceed to the final quiz. Identify the steps of the tube journey The steps in the tube journey include: The robotic arm scans the tube barcode and transfers the tube to the interface wheel The VersaCell X3 system sends the order to the ADVIA Centaur XP system  The ADVIA Centaur XP sample probe aspirates sample from the tube on the interface wheel The tube is returned to a drawer by the robotic arm The results are sent from the ADVIA Centaur XP system to the VersaCell X3 system, and then to the LIS   List the steps to perform startup There are no additional start-up tasks required to establish communication between the ADVIA Centaur XP system and the VersaCell X3 system. On the VersaCell X3 software, the ADVIA Centaur XP system status will be "Running" if the system is ready to start processing samples. When the first sample is sent from the VersaCell X3 system to the interface wheel, the ADVIA Centaur XP system will automatically do a prime before the first sample is pipetted.   Describe QC and patient sample processing Controls: Control samples should be placed on the ADVIA Centaur XP system and ordered using the Worklist Schedule screen in the  ADVIA Centaur XP software.  Unresulted control test orders do not display on the VersaCell X3 system Test Results screen.  The test appears on the Test Results screen when it results. The operator must monitor the status of in progress control test orders from the ADVIA Centaur XP software. Patients: Patient samples may be loaded in a VersaCell X3 system drawer or loaded directly on the ADVIA Centaur XP system. The VersaCell X3 Test Results screen will display orders and results for tests ordered from the LIS. The VersaCell X3 Test Results screen will display only results for tests ordered from the ADVIA Centaur XP software. Repeat and Reflex Testing The VersaCell X3 system automatically resends sample tubes to an ADVIA Centaur XP system when the instrument generates a repeat or reflex test order. After the VersaCell X3 system resends the sample tube to the instrument, a system-generated order is created with Resend as the test code to indicate a pending resend request. This order is automatically cleared once the resend request has been honored. Once the test has completed, the results for the repeat/reflex tests will be displayed. The Test Results screen does not display interim information for the sample after it has been resent and before it results. Manual Orders If a test order is manually ordered on an ADVIA Centaur XP system, you can either manually load the tube on the ADVIA Centaur XP system OR load the tube in a VersaCell X3 system drawer and then use the Resend button on the Samples screen to send the tube to the ADVIA Centaur XP system interface wheel. Tests ordered manually at the ADVIA Centaur XP system are not displayed on the VersaCell X3 system. Only results are displayed. The VersaCell X3 system sends test results to the LIS. eHIV Control Bracketing The ADVIA Centaur XP control bracketing feature remains unchanged when the ADVIA Centaur XP system is connected to a VersaCell X3 system.  The  ADVIA Centaur XP system does not process HIV patient samples until it has acceptable results for the start-of-bracket controls and does not generate HIV patient sample results until it has acceptable results for the end-of-bracket controls. If the VersaCell X3 system sends the  ADVIA Centaur XP system an HIV test order and the  ADVIA Centaur XP system does not have acceptable results for open bracket controls, the  ADVIA Centaur XP system will not process those test orders and an order error will appear on the VersaCell X3 system. HIV tests will continue to have a status of "In Progress" until the  ADVIA Centaur XP system has acceptable results for the close bracket controls because the  ADVIA Centaur XP system will not generate results for those samples until the control bracket is closed. List the causes of common errors Causes of common errors with the ADVIA Centaur XP system connection include: Assay Errors: Missing primary or ancillary reagents Problems with the primary or ancillary reagents Sample Errors: Insufficient sample Sample with integrity errors When ADVIA Centaur XP system assay and sample errors post on the VersaCell X3 system, resolve them following the standard procedures for resolving these errors.  Refer to the VersaCell X3 System Troubleshooting Online Training course and the VersaCell X3 Solution Operator's Guide for more information.
