Compression Changes by More Than 15N on MAMMOMAT Revelation Job Aid

This job aid discusses when Compression Changes by More Than 15N on MAMMOMAT Revelation.

Compression Changes by More Than 15N MAMMOMAT Revelation MAMMOMAT Revelation If the compression changes by more than 15N, the following message window appears to indicate that the targeting may have changed: WH AWS The compression force changed by more than 15N or dropped below 15N. Sufficient compression for accurate target positioning cannot be ensured. Do you want to keep the current compression group? Yes No Click Yes to continue the examination – or – Click No to interrupt the examination. 1. NO = new scout. Select NO whenever a new scout is obtained for targeting after a stereo pair and/or tomo bi- opsy image has been taken. Example scenario- patient is positioned in the CC approach. a) Stereo scout and stereo pair are taken, the target is not reachable. Decision is made to reposition to LM approach. Compression is raised for repositioning. b) Select NO to onscreen message. All remaining stereo pairs will go away. You must add scout, pairs, etc. in LM approach. Note: DO NOT select YES in this, or a similar scenario. Targeting accuracy is not guaranteed. 2. YES = continuing with the exam (ex. needle is in the breast). Select YES to this message using the following scenarios as a guide. SIEMENS Healthineers Example scenario 1- patient is positioned in the CC approach. a) The area of concern is not in the biopsy window. You must reposition. b) Select YES to the onscreen message. It is recommended that NEW be selected on the scout image before repositioning. The message will not populate if this recommendation is followed. Note: This is ONLY applicable if a stereo pair and/or a tomo biopsy image has NOT been taken. Example scenario 2- patient is positioned in the CC approach. a) You compress to 55N. Needle is in the patient’s breast and during the procedure the compression changes to 39N. b) Select YES to the onscreen message and verify that the target has not changed. This can be done by taking a stereo pair and retargeting if necessary. c) If the target is the same, no further action is needed. Note: If the target has changed significantly, you will need to raise the needle out of the breast BEFORE transmitting the new target (over-ride + Z up or over-ride + X out). i. Once raised, transmit the new target. ii. Press the over-ride button and the needle holder will move to the newly transmit- ted target. iii. Stop when the needle nears the breast to ensure it is entering in an anesthetized location. iv. After confirming, proceed by pressing the over-ride button until it stops at new target. Zero hand-box. v. Take another image to confirm or proceed as directed. Example Scenario 3- Biopsy is complete. a) Post biopsy images are done under the same accession number as the biopsy. When compression is released, select YES to the onscreen message. This will allow you to con- tinue with non-biopsy images. b) If NO is selected, you will need to close the exam and open a new procedure to take the post images. Reason: The first image in a biopsy must be a scout.
