The system software has been enhanced by the addition of user accounts, user groups, and password security enhancements. This video will cover customizing minimum password length and resetting user account passwords, beginning with customizing the new minimum password length. The features of this video are only available to members of the laboratory Managers Group. Customizing minimum password length operator ID's assigned to the laboratory managers group can change the minimum password length in the security configuration menu. The default number of characters is 14. However, this number can be set to a value between 4 and 20 characters. Note changing the minimum password length applies only to accounts created or updated after the new minimum length is entered, existing user accounts and their associated passwords. Are not affected unless a new password is created for them. Please note all navigation paths going forward. Assume the starting point of the home operating menu and a log in as a member of the Laboratory Managers Group. You can reset the minimum password length for all new or updated user accounts by performing the following procedure from the home screen. Select F6 system config. F8 more options. The system displays the newly updated minimum password length. Note the system enforces minimum password complexity requirements, and each password must contain at least one uppercase character, one lowercase character, one numeric character, and one special character. The# or hashtag special character cannot be used for passwords. Resetting user account passwords only a member of the Laboratory Managers Group can reset passwords. Note the default Lab Manager password can only be reset when logged in with the lab manager operator ID. If the password for the lab manager operator ID is forgotten, contact your local Technical Support provider. You can reset the password for an individual user account by performing the following procedure. From the Home screen, select F6 system config. F8 more options. F2 config security. F1 user accounts. The system displays the user account, setup screen and all previously stored accounts. Select F2 reset password at the data entry prompt. Enter the existing operator ID for the user account in which you want to reset the password. Then press enter. Note when resetting the password for the account that is currently signed in, you must enter your old password before the new one at the data entry prompt, enter the operators new password. Then press enter at the data entry prompt. Re enter the operators new password, then press enter. The system displays data has been stored confirming the change has been made.
