Handling Microalbumin/Creatinine Samples Video

This video provides instructions on how to properly handle Microalbumin/Creatinine samples on your DCA Vantage® Analyzer, including specimen collection and preparation for analysis.

When handling or processing samples, be sure to wear personal protective equipment, including safety glasses and gloves. Use universal precautions when working with bio hazardous materials. Remove a capillary Holder and plunger from the plastic bag. Inspect the capillary Holder and discard it. If it's missing the capillary starch, plug absorbent material or the plunger, or if the starch plug is at the bottom of the capillary tube. Unused capillary holders may be saved and used with any lot of reagent cartridges. If the urine sample was refrigerated, allow the sample to come to room temperature before running any tests. Mixed the urine specimen thoroughly before use. The capillary Holder requires 40 microliters to fill the capillary. The tube may be filled with urine from a container with a large sample volume or small sample volume. Immerse the tip of the capillary tube in the urine. Sample. Allow approximately 5 seconds for the sample to flow into the capillary tube and come in contact with the starch plug. Remove the capillary tube from the sample. If the urine flows back down the tube, re immerse the tube in the urine sample, allowing sufficient time for the starch plug to become saturated. Always inspect the glass capillary for bubbles and if present discard the capillary and repeat the procedure. Carefully insert the filled capillary Holder into the reagent cartridge until the Holder snaps into place. Avoid harsh insertion of the capillary Holder. This may dislodge the sample from the glass, capillary, or erroneous results may occur. Locate the dot on the instrument next to the barcode track. With the barcode facing to the right, insert the reagent cartridge into the barcode track above the dot. Slide the cartridge swiftly down the track. A beep will sound to signal a successful scan.
