How to Access and Adjust Dose Curves in CARE Dose 4D

How to Access and Adjust Dose Curves in CARE Dose 4D step by step

How to Access and Adjust Dose Curves in CARE Dose4D Computed Tomography Siemens' CARE Dose4D automatically adapts radiation dose to the size and shape of each individual patient. However, image quality is subjective, and as such the user/Radiologist may wish to further modulate dose for a particular body part or patient size population. The CARE Dose4D configuration curves allow the user more control over the mAs adaptation strength. 1. Access the CARE Dose4D configuration via Options > Configuration > Examination. The adaptation curves govern how aggressively CARE Dose4D modulates the dose away from/towards Average based on an individual patient's size. Tube current (eff. mAs) t very strong strong average weak very weak Quality ref. mAs Reference point (adult) + Attenuation Reference patient (70-80 kg) EXAMPLE: If all abdominal images of obese patients are too noisy, select a stronger CARE Dose4D curve in the Adult obese column for the Abdomen Organ Characteristic. This will enable CARE Dose4D to modulate stronger/more (increasing the dose) for abdomens on obese patients. EXAMPLE: If all abdominal images of children are too noisy, select a weaker CARE Dose4D curve in the Child column for the Abdomen Organ Characteristic. This will enable CARE Dose4D to modulate weaker/less (increasing the dose) for abdomens on child patients.
