How to Perform a Wire Localization - VC20 and Higher Job Aid

How to Perform a Wire Localization MAMMOMAT Revelation VC20 and Higher The fenestrated compression plate and the laser crosshair device can be used to localize sus- pected/suspicious areas of the breast. A wire localization can then be performed in these areas. The fenestrated compression plate immobilizes the breast and has a biopsy window. The biopsy window contains an alphanumeric coordinate scale that is visible in the X-ray image. SIEMENS Mostheneers ? Fenestrated Compression Plate Laser Crosshair Device 1. Remove the face shield and mount the laser crosshair device by sliding it onto the rails and securing the latch at the back, then switch it on by pressing the ON/OFF button at the back of the battery compartment. 2. Attach the fenestrated compression plate. NOTE: when the fenestrated paddle is selected, the system automatically chooses Auto decompression OFF. Auto decompression will remain off for the entire study. OPDOSE 50-59 mm 29 kV - + WIRh . . . 50 mm Adv. Automatic decompression 3. Register the patient at the acquisition workstation.  Adjust the projection angle.  Position and compress the breast 4. Perform "scout" exposure. The Radiologist will review the image and localize area of concern. 5. To use the crosshair tool- select "Tools" from the top menu bar. Select "crosshairs" in dropdown. Slide the laser beams on each side of the laser cross device to the desired position according to the coordinates of the compression plate. Note: The laser positioner is manually moved to align to the paddle coordinates where the lesion is seen on the X-ray image. 8. The intersection point of the cross indicates the position of the suspect area. 9. Continue with the wire localization. When changing to FULL breast image and standard paddle, you DO NOT need to select Decomp OFF in Advanced settings and the laser crosshaire device does nto need to be removed.
