Table Positioning Strategy - Eline

The Table Positioning Mode Job Aid defines ISO, FIX, and REF Modes and provides guidance and applications used for each mode.

Table Positioning Modes – E-line Job Aid Table Positioning Modes – Eline Positioning Mode determines how the table is positioned for the selected protocol and which reference images should be loaded.  Positioning Modes: ISO, REF, FIX – located on “System > Miscellaneous” Parameter Card  Slice planning is only performed on DIS2D or DIS3D Distortion Corrected images, no unloading of images from GSP.  GSP can only display distortion corrected images (e.g., exception Spectroscopy).  Global Positioning Mode setting is located at the Region, Exam, or Program level in Dot Cockpit under Edit Properties.  Positioning Mode (PM) – always displayed top of Parameter Cards (e.g., PM: FIX) 1. Isocenter (ISO) – (e.g., Default Strategy) a. ISO table position calculated so measurement is performed at Isocenter i. Based on center point of all slice groups ii. Table moves to “Isocenter” of Slice/Slab Group after sequence applied  Like “Scan Region Center” or “Scan at Center” iii. Patient-specific Adjustments performed again after table move b. Set-n-Go Protocols always use ISO (e.g., Default) c. 2D Distortion Correction automatically activated when ISO Positioning Mode selected. i. Distortion Correction must be used in combination with ISO for all sequences or images will unload or disappear in GSP segments. d. ISO Positioning Mode cannot be used in combination with FIX or REF positioning modes when planning sequences within a protocol i. ISO Positioning Mode when combined with REF or LOC in a protocol results in images unloading or disappearing in GSP segments. ii. ISO Positioning Mode when combined with REF or LOC results in the inability to see reference lines on a PACS system. e. Applications – Larger anatomical regions (e.g., Spine, Abdomen, Pelvis, Long Bone) TA: 2:42 PM: ISO PAT: 2 Voxel size: 0.5x0.5x4.0mm Rel. Fixed (FIX) – Fixed Table Position a. FIX Positioning Mode performs all measurements at a Set Table Position i. Table doesnt move ii. Distortion Correction not automatically selected b. Table can be moved manually to a specified position when using FIX Positioning Mode i. Table Position  Select from Dropdown Direction H/F; L/R; A/P (selections depend on orientation selected)  Enter Table Move in mm ii. Table moves after sequence is applied iii. Patient-specific Adjustments performed again if table moved manually c. REF Positioning Mode Table Position is linked to a Reference Image i. Similar to “Scan at Current Table Position” ii. Table moves when Slices or FOV moved in Head>>Foot Direction iii. Patient-specific Adjustments performed again if table moves or as needed (e.g., fat saturation) iv. Distortion Correction not automatically selected b.
