The robotic arm transports the sample tube to a carrier on the Atellica Magline® Transport 4. The tube characterization system scans the tube If there is currently an order for the tube, and the calibrator or QC sample contains a single assay: 1. The Atellica Magline Transport transports the tube to the appropriate analyzer for sample aspiration 2. When all aspiration is complete, the Atellica Magline Transport transports the tube to the cal-QC storage area If there is currently an order for the tube, and the calibrator or QC sample contains multiple assays: 1. The Atellica Magline Transport transports the tube to the appropriate analyzer for sample aspiration 2. The analyzer aspirates all the replicates for 1 assay for each calibrator or QC level 3. The Atellica Magline Transport transports the tube to the cal-QC storage area 4. The Atellica Magline Transport transports the tube to the appropriate analyzer 5. The analyzer aspirates all replicates for the second assay of each calibrator or QC level 6. The Atellica Magline Transport returns the tube to the cal-QC storage area 7. The system repeats this process until the analyzer completes aspirating all of the assays associated with the calibrator or QC materials 9 *This procedure is continued on the next slide Effective Date: 3/31/2019 | HOOD05162002998037 Unrestricted © Siemens Healthcare GmbH, 2019 Atellica® Sample Handler SIEMENS Healthineers Hardware Overview Sample Processing Sequence for Calibrator / QC Samples that are stored in the Cal-QC Storage Area (continued) If there is not currently an order for the tube: 1. The tube will travel once around the Atellica Magline Transport to allow time for the system to receive orders after the barcode is read 2. When the tube returns to the Sample Handler, the robotic arm transports the sample tube to the cal-QC storage area 5. When a test is ordered for the material, the robotic arm will retrieve the tube from the cal/QC storage area and transport it to a carrier on the Atellica Magline Transport for aspiration by an analyzer. When the onboard stability expires for the material, the robotic arm can transport the tube to a drawer where the operator can remove it from the system NOTE: When tubes are placed in the cal-QC storage area, the robotic arm will place a cal-QC tube cover over the tube to help prevent evaporation of the sample. NOTE: Only calibrator and QC samples that are in an appropriate container (only 12x75mm round bottom sample containers can be used; sample cups cannot be used in the cal-QC storage area) and that have been designated for onboard storage will be stored in the cal-QC storage area.
