CLINITEK Advantus® Urine Chemistry Analyzer Sample Processing Online Training

Perform patient testing using urinalysis test strips and recall stored data results.

Welcome to the CLINITEK Advantus® Urine Chemistry Analyzer Sample Processing Online Training course. Performing urinalysis provides physicians with valuable information to help detect metabolic and kidney disorders and diagnose many other medical conditions. Several different Siemens urinalysis strips can be used with this analyzer. Urinalysis test strips allow technicians to obtain semi-quantitative results for a variety of test parameters.   Describe how to recall stored results Identify products approved for use List the steps to perform a urinalysis strip test Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to: Congratulations. You have completed the CLINITEK Advantus® Urine Chemistry Analyzer Sample Processing Online Training course. Listed below are the key points that have been presented. Perform Routine Strip Test Learn about how to perform a routine strip test. Slide NumberText BlocksCalloutsAudio ScriptImage File1Select a Urine Strip Select the appropriate test strip Verify the system test strip selection (if applicable) Software version 3.1 and higher has Siemens' Auto-Checks functionality for automatic strip detection and strip integrity checks   Note: Only use Siemens brand urine strips. Use of other strips may cause erroneous results.     Select Next to continue. Note: If audio does not automatically start, select the play arrow in the top left to begin. The first step when performing a patient strip test on your CLINITEK Advantus Analyzer is to select the appropriate urine strip type. If you’re using software version 3.1, or higher Siemens' Auto-Checks functionality will be enabled on your CLINITEK Advantus, which will automatically detect your strip type as well as check strip integrity for any possible deterioration. For earlier software versions, verify that your system has the appropriate test strip selected on the Ready/Run screen. Select Next to continue. 2 Check/Change Sequence Number Verify the sequence number is correct Select the SEQ# key to change the sequence number Select Next to continue. If specimen IDs are not used and color and clarity results are reported and display, the analyzer automatically enters the run mode when you place a strip on the platform. In this case, the analyzer will sequentially assign a sequence number. Select Next to continue. 3 Change the Technician Identification Tech ID display only on the Ready/Run screen If technician ID is active on your system To change the tech ID navigate to: Menu > Tech ID Select Next to continue. Callouts Enter Tech ID Changing the technician ID step will be available if technician IDs are active on your system. To change the tech ID, navigate to the Menu screen, select Tech ID, and enter the new tech identification number. Select Next to continue. 4Enter the Color and Clarity Use the Cycle key to set the color and clarity Use the barcode reader to scan the color and clarity   Note: Default COL/CLA values are YELLOW and CLEAR if run is set to on.     Select Next to continue. Callouts Color - cycle key Clarity - cycle key The color and clarity can be entered two different ways if your system is set up with this option. To manually enter the specimen color and clarity, use the cycle keys on the Ready/Run menu. The barcode reader can also be used to scan the barcoded symbols provided with the barcode reader. Note: the default color and clarity values are set to yellow and clear if the run setting is on. Select Next to continue. 5Prepare the Strip Test for Analysis Completely immerse all of the reagent pads into specimen Immediately remove  the urine strip Run the edge against the side of the container when removing the strip   Note: Do not blot the edge of the strip. This could affect results.     Select Next to continue. Next step is to properly prepare the urine test strip for analysis. Completely immerse all of the reagent pads on a Siemens urine strip into a fresh, well-mixed, uncentrifuged urine sample. Immediately remove the urine strip. While removing the strip, run the edge against the side of the container. This removes excess liquid. Note: Do not blot the edge of the strip. This could affect results. Select Next to continue. 6Place Strip Test onto the Loading Station Place the urine strip onto the loading station Place to the right of the push bar Ensure the end of the strip is against the back wall of the platform Note: Improper placement may cause the analyzer to jam or the strip to incorrectly align under the readheads. When complete, select the X in the upper-right corner to close the window and continue. Place the urine strip onto the supports of the strip loading station, with the reagent pads facing up. Place the strip to the right of and parallel to the push bar. Ensure that the end of the strip is against the back wall of the platform and that it is not touching the bottom of the strip loading station. Note: Improper placement may cause the analyzer to jam or the strip to incorrectly align under the readheads. When complete, select the X in the upper-right corner to close the window and continue. The CLINITEK Advantus® Analyzer uses Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics test strips to perform a single test and obtain semi-quantitative results for a number of different test parameters, such as:   Albumin Albumin-to-Creatinine Ratio Bilirubin Blood Creatinine Glucose Ketones Leukocyte (white blood cells) Nitrites Protein pH Protein-to-Creatinine Ratio Specific gravity  Urobilinogen Note: The CLINITEK Advantus Analyzer uses Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics Test Strips that have been validated for use on the system and prevents the use of non-validated test strips.
