CT For Hybrid Imaging Workshop Part 1-PET

This workshop module for PET/CT will provide the attendee with information on basic x-ray physics and production, CT instrumentation hardware, CT acquisition and parameters. The topics included are x-ray physics, x-ray production, parameters and characteristics of the x-ray beam, and x-ray interaction with matter. hardware and instrumentation of a CT scanner. The topics included are x-ray physics, x-ray production, parameters and characteristics of the x-ray beam, and x-ray interaction with matter, the generations of CT scanners, the CT hardware, which includes the tube, high voltage generator, and collimation. CT detectors CT scanning methods such as the topogram, sequence scanning, spiral scanning. Also, factors that affect image quality will be presented that will include mAs, kVp, slice thickness, pitch and isocentering. Lastly, an overview of dose measurement in CT, techniques for increasing safety and reducing dose to the patient, CARE and FAST features as well as some advanced
algorithms that improve image quality while reducing the x-ray dose to the patient and techniques to reduce patient dose. Demonstration on the SMARTSimulators will follow the PPT instruction to view the features discussed in the presentations.
